    For me I'd go for the utility room and eliminate the 4th bathroom. Maybe make the 3rd bathroom larger. I'd also like to see a bench with a sink in the outside cockpit for cleaning and preparing fish. Most cats don't cater for this, and most days while cruising your catching sizeable fish. There needs to be a place to gut and clean them which isn't going to make a big mess of your boat.

    Wish these kind of Catamarans came with small internal navigation stations, dont think you would need much just for those bad at sea days ! and you're not stuck up top with a plastic barrier. These are great catamarans !

    • @pred7949
      @pred7949 2 года назад

      it does have an interior nav station. I assume you meant interior helm station. Sailing from an interior helm position requires a whole differently styled and designed boat and that is not the market that leopard is after.

    Thanks Wiley, another great vid. For me Leopard have pretty much nailed it with the 50 - take your advice on the galley and the only quibble I would have is, as others have mentioned, the size of the beds which is a theme with most modern Leopards. But the styling, lines, the excellent front cockpit and the pose of the flybridge! Sold. Have a great Show at Annapolis.

    I really don't like the galley layout, the stairs to the forward cabin seem to be right in the way and almost a hazard while underway trying to prep food. At the very least the stairs being where they are reduce your usable counter space by quite a bit.

    • @maldwindrummond6158
      @maldwindrummond6158 6 лет назад +2

      Good point about the galley. I don’t use my galley, so didn’t notice. Perhaps a gate would be a worthwhile addition to avoid falling down the companionway.

    Have to agree with galley layout issues. I can see lots of tumbles and turned ankles especially under way. I like the owners 4 cabin idea but seems really limiting for appointments in most of the areas except outside.

    I really liked this boat at the show, particularly the salon which felt more panoramic and open than many other boats. I like the location of the nav station, and think I would like the forward cockpit, although intuitively it feels like a bad idea on a blue water boat. I also like the 4 cabin master layout for it’s greater crew carrying ability. I didn’t like the flybridge couch because it was uncomfortable, but it might be fixable by changing the cushions.
    Best,
    Maldwin

    The cabinetry is a bit hit and miss on that. I like the new trend towards lighter, less glossy finishes, but there are a lot of hard edges there. That forward galley workspace looks a bit precarious and should have been moved aft. It looks like a great charter, but I don't think it's my cup of tea for a blue water cruiser. Has anyone come up with a 360 berthing camera system system like most luxury cars have? If not, I have a business idea.

    • @sgrsgrsgrsgrsgr
      @sgrsgrsgrsgrsgr 6 лет назад +1

      I agree with you on the sharp edges everywhere: that's gonna hurt a lot.
      I have not set foot on her, nor seen her IRL, but I have the odd feeling that she's more a lounge on 2 hulls rather than a (practical) boat.
      Small cockpit, weird access to the mast (happy reefing!) and why in gawd's name would you put the electric panel in the stairs? it's hidden from view so you don't break the line of the stunning interior, but trying to flip a switch in bad weather is going to be fun. Another thing that drives me nuts is Yanmar showing 5000 rpm on the Tachi when the engines are 3000 RPM @ WOT

    Hi Wiley, really appreciate all your videos and the comments are great. Given your experience with charters and used boats, of the big three manufactures (FP, Lagoon, and Leopard) in your opinion which one builds boats that hold their resell value the best. So there are multiple factors I would guess, boats that are popular with buyers, sail well, and are well constructed.

    if you get a chance to do a tour on one of the leopards with three cabins in one hull, and owners hull w/laundry room forward i would love to get a sense of how that all flows together

    • @jennmitchell4993
      @jennmitchell4993 6 лет назад

      We are a family of 5 so we were liking the kids Hull and then the parents Hull. We also know that we want laundry on the boat to make life on hook more comfortable. There would be that extra head but that could be a day head for the boat or perhaps converted into a laundry space as all the plumbing is there. As a boat with kids there will likely be all the things that need stowing from bins with lego to bikes and spare crafting supples. So the forward part of one hull for storage and maybe a simple berth if really needed Would keep the rest of the boat free from Clutter. Also any additional systems that you need a little room to add would be nice to be able to install with room for servicing.

      We are also looking at monohulls just because of the cost savings in being able to look at boats in the 60' range that are bluewater capable and a bit older. We are really starting at the top of the list and then coming down as budget will dictate. Loved the pod cast you did with teddy J on Sail loot. We are not quite ready to leave yet so that got the gears turning.
      Dream List
      4-5 cabins
      Pilot house / All weather sailing in comfort. Possible Centre cockpit with enclosure
      We want to be able to live aboard in a northern climate an take north so insulation
      An engine room a big guy can get into to work.
      Rig type we are open to most but at 60' most are ketch or schooner maybe cutter or solent

    Why ADD a letter to a word that means what you want only to confuse it with existing slang that is literally associated with pain? Is pain a subliminal a boat seller wants to associate with the product he's trying sell? Does embracing ignorance of a word needed in one's profession improve professional image?
    Look up "pan" in Webster's. Scroll down to the 5th of 9 definitions.

    There is a point, as with all things where, things like this just become faintly ridiculous. This boat clearly caters to an American market, where size is everything. It's like going "camping" in one of those monstrous huge American RV's. The whole point of going, camping or blue water sailing, is not to transplant your condo onto the road, or water. It is to experience quality sailing. I would submit that a boat like this is about as far from real sailing as it is possible to get. Clearly the company that commissioned this monstrosity, have no sense of humour. The joke is well and truly on them !!...

      Charlie, check out Randy Smith's comments on the Leopard site re. his 48 (also has a RUclips vlog 'Sailing Happy Together'). He's a former mono sailor , bought his cat and in the first week had 12 knots in 10 knots of wind: 15.5 knots from 20 knots of wind and loves it. We were introduced to sailing 10 years ago and informed by friends that Oyster's / Swans were the benchmark. Used to think cats were ugly lumps of plastic also but if we were to traverse oceans - and that is the plan - then I would certainly want all the creature comforts - and extra stability - of a cat. And I would argue that sales figures would reflect that in markets other than the US. Like the biking world, no one wants sports bikes any more. Why be cramped and uncomfortable when you can have as much, if not more speed, with a lot more comfort and safety? Tastes change and I personally think monohulls as cruisers will become more outdated and outnumbered. Fair winds. Phil.

      Most streets in the UK are narrow and most houses are tiny. So, what's the point? As we tend to say here in the US: Go big or go home. ;-) All joking aside, those cats are meant to sail in the Carribean or Mediterranean, not the North Sea...
