Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary is a fantastic place to do bird photography and video, or just birding. Located on Chicago's Lakefront north of downtown, it's easy to get to.

I say in the video that the sanctuary got it's start when the district allowed dunes to form on Montrose Beach, but apparently native species of plants friendly to birds were planted on the point a few decade earlier.
Also, I mention Europeans arriving in the area a few hundred years ago, but I should point out the first non-native person to settle in the area was Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, who was of African descent. More about him here: en.wikipedia.o...
