I know from personal experience that you can be educated, intelligent, etc. and still be susceptible to being lured into a cult. Not many people truly know what it's like since they've never been in one themselves and spreading misinformation like this is dangerous and probably makes people more vulnerable to being lured into one for this reason. The key is targeting the things which make us ALL vulnerable as human beings. You can brainwash and manipulate anyone through psychological means if they aren't able to recognize the tactics being used against them and/or lack the willpower to resist the tactics (fear is a major one).
