Normally, it will interrupt/shorten the animations of specific aspects of a character. The most obvious example is Link's midair down-smash where he stabs down. When he lands, he has a long, vulnerable animation of him pulling his sword out of the ground. Say the animation takes 0.7 seconds (Not sure how long it actually takes), L-cancelling will likely make that animation about 0.1 or 0.2 seconds long, if that. This makes Link a much more competitive character, as it does for any other one.
The Sheik to Falcon combo was fucking insane! Falling N-air to 3 D-Tilts -> reverse Jab -> F-tilt? -> D-tilt -> D-throw -> needle -> Back throw -> Jab -> Needle resets across the stage likw 4 times Finishing with Cancled first hit F-Smash -> Needle (for canceled knockback I assume) -> F-Smash -> F-air Jesus christ man. That Roy combo was probably the next best one. Great music choices, I've always wanted to hear Dies Irae in a combo vid.
Gotta say, save for the explosions destroying and distorting the sound in the 1812 Overture, the audio editing on this was fantastic. Oh and dat Roy Combo tho...

I've been playing with sheik my whole life in melee (almost 12 years) so when i saw sheik/zelda combo i was like "Dude that cannot be possible!" That's turbo mode, obviously is. But some yoshi's combos are real, marth, jigglypuff, pikachu and falco are real too.Wavedash with missile and plasma beam was cool btw.
I feel like this is a function that should be implemented. It should be called hyper mode and it should not last long also it should damage you and it should be optional (toggle off and on in options), it should be button activated. I feel like there would be some sort of meter that would decrease over time but also fill up from damage more so from combos and when someone is pounding the shit out of your shield. I also think hyper mode should reflect a character persona.
