I don't do vintage pens, because they intimidate me too much. So I got this plum Parker 51 Deluxe with a fine nib and just like you I am so impressed with the writing experience - and I don't have anything to compare it with. It's now in my top 5 favorite pens for sure! The only thing I don't like about it is that because the cap is not airtight, the ink in the converter evaporates quite quickly. If you're using it a lot and going through a converter or cartridge quickly, that is no issue, but if you rotate several pens like I do, you'll just see ink disappear from this one. But I like how it writes so much that I deal with it.
I like the grip and the style, colour, trim and the 18k. I like a screw cap but I HAVE to post. I was just in store and the sales person talked me out of it, saying the vintage was better, its changed too much. At that time I didn't try it, darn, (usually I dip them to see how they write before I buy them). I bought a Cross Peerless instead, and I love it. Maybe I will get this too though, down the line. I don't count this pen out, I'd have to see if it can be posted, if it was balanced although you thought it wasn't as comfortable posted. I enjoy getting good old Cross, Parker - American pens. I enjoy their history, as well.
Gourmet Pens: gives a very honest and balanced review praising the pen’s performance. Every commenter (who has probably not tried out the pen): I hate it, don’t buy it, it’s poison.
The aerometrics are reliable, hold lots of ink, and are readily available on eBay etc., so I think these are only for people who haven’t become interested in vintage pens.
It's OK. I wouldn't shell out for it, knowing that money could be stashed away for a GOAT pen. I have a few pens in that price range already and the truth is they don't see enough action. Why does Yama Budo always go stewed plum awhile after writing? So disappointment.
Parker "reimagined" without imagination! Gimme a break! LOL .. Actually I would buy the Waterman Carene instead of this boring pen. The inlaid nib on the Carene is so much more attractive and approx same size and weight, in fact a tad heavier than this I think. Sorry Parker, this is lame.
I have a vintage Parker 51 Demi from 1948 and I have two of the new Parker 51s. I love all of them!
The nib of this modern parker 51 is really awesome. Very comfortable. I liked it.

Ha! I was just looking at vintage on eBay this morning 🤪

in your opinion, does it write better/smoother than a Lamy 2000?

Thanks for your review! Based on what I heard, the new Parker 51 is not worth the price. There are other better pens with the same price.
At this price , there are many better alternatives.

Just doesn't excite me, though it isn't unattractive :)
Short title: Boring pen, fabulous writer.
Pretty much!

Old wine in new bottles. Overpriced and gilding the lily. I'm outta here...😂
Mediocre pen with an exagerrated price...
I don't buy it...
