I just looked up Safi'jiiva's name and found out in Wyvern it means "Perfect Life", makes for quite a fitting opponent for (Perfect) Cell and explains the title.
Another Perfect Cell Track! Hell yeah! We are getting spoiled today boys!
Would love if a death battle had an elder dragon from mh, I was even recently speculating on who would be a good opponent for Fatalis.
I've gone with Nidhogg from final fantasy. Two dragons who have a deep hatred towards humanity, one because of nature, the other of tragedy.
A good match up but Fatalis would lose hard.
Yeah, unfortunately for Monster Hunter, any matchups the wyverns and elder dragons are very much stomps because of how powerful they really are in comparison to other dragons and wyverns in media. And this is coming from a fan of MH and would still love to see them in a DB or other Vs series.
@deusxmachinaxx1332 Oh yeah, I haven't looked much into Nidhogg's feats, but I know he is smarter and has magic. Final fantasy also has a higher power ceiling than monster hunter.

It's refreshing seeing Cell get some love. Being one of my personal fav DBZ villains
The Perfect being gains another track. Hmm, I have this mental image of Imperfect Cell accidentally travelling to Monster Hunter instead of back in time (blame faulty time machines) and getting beaten up by monsters just like the players.
Assuming he was nerfed to a point where the monsters CAN actually beat on him, I cant see him making it past Teo and Kushala
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey Well in the scenario I gave he would be initially nerfed as he had to revert to his larval state to use the time machine and then absorb people to get his power back just like in canon Dragon Ball.

Now I know I say that relatively often but on the ladder of wacky matchups, Dragon Ball VS Monster Hunter for sure reaches the top of it. But damn does that track name slaps, I love it.
I'll be totally honest, as a Monster Hunter fan that matchup is... Uh... Not good. I mean, technically it has connections but those are some r/DeathBattleMatchups level connections (AKA really bad). Regardless, like I often say the matchup doesn't make the song so I was quite looking forward to listening to it given that both Cell and Safi have really good themes associated to them.
And in the end I'd say the song does justice to them both relatively well. It's undeniable that the track focuses much more on Cell than Safi, proof being that Safi'jiiva's signature motif doesn't even really play throughout the song while Cell's "theme" (in quotes because it's a fanmade one even if it's the most popular one associated to him), and I do think it's a bummer, especially since Safi's theme is really quite iconic. But the track does make up for that in other ways I'd say.
For one there's obviously the use of Cell's associated theme which I mentioned above that's appreciable as I think it's the first time it's directly referenced in a commission on this channel ? And of course it sounds really nice. Its inclusion is relatively standard meaning that it isn't bad but it doesn't stand out massively in how it's used but it doesn't make it unappreciable at all.
And the second thing that does make the track stand out is its general structure. I did say that I would have enjoyed if Safi'jiiva's theme was included directly in the track but the song manages to go partially past that by making it still feel fitting to both characters and not just Cell. How it manages this is by giving the track a very grandiose and slightly mysterious feel to it. Sure the track does feel antagonistic to a point which is just to be expected here but it doesn't stop at just this and instead goes further by making the track have very elongated and relatively low pitched main melodies that give it a lot of weight and mystery, something that perfectly fits Safi'Jiiva as it's reputed in-lore to be an extremely peculiar and unique species that defies the laws of physics even by Monster Hunter Standards. This feeling is especially notable at the end starting at 3:40 but more on that later.
Another thing that I want to mention before getting to that would be the 1:18-1:38 segment (and by extention other parts of the track that use it) which is one of the few moments in the track that feels like it references Safi'jiiva's theme and that's because of the "heartbeat" that can be heard with the percussions in it.
For those that don't know, Safi'jiiva's fight in Monster Hunter World has a special mechanic where, at some points, Safi'jiiva will be enraged and target a single player which'll change its theme for the targeted player to a more "muted" version of the song with a powerful heartbeat being audible. And I really like the fact that Brandon added that detail in the track here. It doesn't quite make up for the lack of the signature motif and the powerful percussions that are iconic of Safi'Jiiva but it still gives a lot of personality to the track.
In fact, I really like how the heartbeat was included in this song as it's clearly audible that, contrary to the fight in the game, here it isn't to signify rage but more so a purely tense and enigmatic segment, as if Safi isn't quite enraged at the enemy it's facing but more so confused and curious about what it's been put up against. It's a very original way to introduce that part that does make the song stand out a bit for sure.
But undoubtedly the most notable segment of the song would be the ending starting at 3:40 because it's where the track really takes the gravity and scale that it should have. It's at that point that the whole entire song picks up to signify how powerful and destructive both those characters are and how a battle between the two is one of absolutely epic proportions. On one hand I absolutely love that segment because it's almost everything the track should be but on the other hand I feel a bit bummed out because this "almost everything the track should be" only plays for the last third of the song.
It does make the last third of the track much more notable and impactful but ironically the fact that it's so appreciable makes the rest of the track feel proportionally a bit underwhelming, which is a bummer. Mind you, being in the shadow of a really good segment isn't exactly an issue so I can't fully fault the track for it. Just something to note.
And besides, I don't want it to seem as if I hate the song because I don't. And that last segment is proof of that as it's extremely enjoyable to listen to. As said above it perfectly conveys the power and scale of those two. And you'll note that in this segment we finally get the percussive bursts that are befitting of Safi'jiiva and that were missing from the rest of the track (I mean, they weren't absent but they didn't have the impact or feeling fitting of Safi) which truly makes this part the pinnacle of the matchup as it perfectly balances out how much both characters are represented instead of being like the rest where Cell is vastly more present in the track. So that all results in this final third of the song being generally really good and a great conclusion to the track, even if it does come at the cost of making the rest of the song feel a bit underwhelming.
Overall this track is about as weird to me as the matchup it represents but for completely different reasons. On one hand I really like quite a few parts of the song and it's for sure enjoyable while also fitting the characters. But on the other hand I do feel like it doesn't nearly live up to the potential of a track like that due to the few issues it has which I mentioned before. Now of course this comes from the point of view of a biased individual as I'm much more well versed in Monster Hunter than in Dragon Ball but I do genuinely feel like it could have been better. Is it a sin that the track isn't perfect ? I mean for the matchup involving two creatures named "the perfect life form" maybe (also Cell VS Destoroyah when ?) but on a more serious note it absolutely isn't so I can't fault the song too much. Sure it isn't a perfect track, but that doesn't make it bad at all as it's generally quite enjoyable and it does have some depth to it. Great job with this for sure.
Wow cell’s 3rd soundtrack. Cool! Hey can you also do one of Majin buu (Dragonball) vs Doomsday (DC comics)

If death battle season 11 manages to come out I’ve got a feeling that cells gonna be in it
Interesting choice in mashup… I’m fan of both but I don’t really see any big connection. One a narcissistic bug man made from the the dna of the strongest fighter, capable of destroying planets by flicking his finger.
The other a giant red dragon with no real motivation or agency capable of absorbing the bio energy around him for his own benefit. Also he at best a continental level threat so there no real fight between these two.
The Music cool
I guess the main theme for them is they both gain new looks upon absorbing something (Cell absorbing people and Safi'jiiva absorbing Bio-Energy)

As for cell, my preferred matchup for him is cosmic Garou from one punch man. Both copy techniques and are considered "monsters" and push the protagonists beyond a point no one before had- not to mention garou killing genos lines up with cell killing trunks or goku's sacrifice.
As for who'd win between cell and garou, I genuinely believe Garou does. Him and saitama are galaxy level on a LOW end compared to cell being put up there via scaling to broly/gohan, but garou has advantage with how quickly he learns and masters techniques. Not to mention garou being radiated actually plays into the fight! Cell can't quite regenerate if his cells become cancerous/die from radiation

Connections
Ancient unstoppable reactive evolution monsters of their respective verses.
Both have lived for nearly millions of years since the prehistoric times.
Their powers are centered around their reactive evolution and regenerative powers making them almost unkillable and allowing them to adapt to nearly any levels of threat, becoming even more stronger and destructive ether as the fight prolongs or from each death.
Created through a reckless and dangerous usage of an experiment leading to mankind to accidentally create them into being biological weapons of mass destruction (Doomsday's creator wanting to create the ultimate lifeform and the Oxygen Destroyer used to kill the original Godzilla which lead to something worst which in this case Destoroyah).
They're the villainous destroyers and evil opposites of their respective universe's heroes who protect humanity from evil (Superman and Godzilla).
Deep within their DNA, there contains traces of the hero themselves (Doomsday is heavily believed to be of Kryptonian origin which more than likely means he is a Kryptonian himself and Destroyah has Godzilla DNA thanks to Godzilla Jr.).
Proven themselves to one of their respective heroes's most powerful and dangerous adversary they had ever faced and pushing them to their limit, even being responsible for their deaths at one point in time.
They're the harbingers of destruction who seeks to eliminate all life and even when killed they continue to return, becoming stronger and seemingly larger then ever, constantly evolving and adapted to whatever has killed them before, making them terrifying forces of natures who cannot ever be stopped by conventional means.

I know which track we need. Cell vs Meruem!
This was not a crossover I was ever expecting but god damn if this ends up as a death battle I'm all for it (even if its unfortunately a slaughter on the side of Cell)
Yeah, cell wins.
Both Elder Dragons and Androids are dangerous threats, but these two stand head and shoulders above the rest, especially in their true and perfect forms
Given if I recall, Safi'Jiva is able to regenerate on a seemingly indefinite level (keyword being seemingly as I haven't played in a while) and the lore itself states that if it wasn't constantly being beaten down by Hunters and creatures like Nergigante, it could easily grow so powerful that it'd wipe out all life on their world, with genuinely unparalleled ease, this might be one hell of a fight for Cell. Though I never thought this would be a fight I'd imagine. I also don't know much about Cell, so.
Cell has the exact same powerset but on a larger scale. He is able to regenerate from virtually anything as long as a single cell from his being remains. And he has the Saiyan ability to get stronger with every near death experience he undergoes.
can't say it's a matchup I enjoy. Cell is absolutely galaxy level at least and safi, even scaled to fatalis, is around planetary. MAYBE star level if you stretch things.
That being said, amazing music as always
