The Robotic Musicians known as: Intel's Industrial Control in Concert | Intel

I remember the original CGI version of this. Whoever thought of actually building a physical analog - even if it doesn't actually play - my hat's off to them.
That's ATI/AMD Radeon
After more than 10 years of dreaming if this were possible....Intel comes and does this...AND TOTALLY REDEEMS ITSELF! WOOOOOOOOOO!
Now, if it only played the instruments instead of fake plastic ones we'd finally be there.
@@idontwanttopickone true, but that's a story for 2023
How about that banana in the shot at 0:55?
for scale
the fact that im seeing real life pipe dream from animusic makes me very happy
oh my god that was awesome. now all i need to buy are 7 netbooks and industrial off the shelf parts
Pipe Dream IS REAL! :D
Actually this was a fake machine and it’s just a sound track and balls flying everywhere, but sure intel had there shot and decided to fake it
@@lachyness how do you know that? please share
This is what happens when enginners have too many cofee brakes...
Coffee brake = that moment when you stop working (or doing nothing) to enjoy your coffee. That's what it means. Welcome to planet Earth.
Alex C Did you just argue with yourself
Alex C Wow. The words you were looking for were Coffee Break. Not Brake.
😜😜😜👀👍
😆😆😆
My music teacher showed this to my class today. I had to watch it again, it was just too cool :)
This is awesome. It won't be long now before they make live animusic concerts. I'd better start saving money for tickets now so by the time the concert comes out I might be able to afford a back row seat.
It's sadly only 0.01% of the views a kitten would get if it were chasing a piece of string
Technology+Physic+Music = Great style of mighty music
That's all fine and dandy, but can it run Crysis 3?
Atom are garbage. Right now total intel cpu lineup is overpriced garbage. They try gimmicks like these to make people think its all powerful.
All this could have runned by single raspberry zero but machine itself is very good.
No it can't run crysis or it will run it very poorly since crysis only scale up to 4 threads and 1 thread doing most of the job, even today those igpu's can't help each other so game runs on single igpu.
Very bad performance at least
@@Pixel_FX no u
@@mrtuvok5578 One year later now my statement is even more valid :V
I hate the people that disliked this. this is awesome! great copy.
I spent 30 years doing this kind of automation but nobody was willing to pay to do THIS. What FUN it must have been! Thanks INTEL. Big win!
@barlowcj If you didn't notice, the song played is the actual MIDI that is played when the ball bearings hit the touch sensitive instruments. The tone is exceptionally different from the original, and if they had recorded the performance live, the sound from the exposition would completely overshadow the music.
OH MY GOD!
I watched the original video when I was like 7 or 8!
And now its here; AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH. SO HAPPY!
Bro intel brings effing pipe dreams alive and the people watching were like ok nice I guess
I used to fantasize about that machine being real. I spent hours devising ways to make it happen. Seeing it actually come to life brought tears to my eyes.
Intel, you are amazing. But I have one question. WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG!?
AMAZING WHAT CAN BE DONE WITH THE COMPUTER!
Animusic ftw
Amazing! They actually brought the concept to life
those balls just flying everywhere, one more greatest challenge would be get those balls back in a funnel. Like the one in 3d version
I noticed they were all falling on the floor, but if you look carefully it appears that the floor is sloped allowing them to be collected possibly at a central location.
The piece reminds me of Zappa's "Jazz From Hell" album.
As an Army Veteran of 27 years, I can think of lots of practical applications for machine guns. Protecting my men and me is the most important.
AWESOME & BRILLIANT!!!!
Okay - wow - just - wow.
Here's an idea, lets stop spending so much on wars and stuff and give it all to Intel to build more cool stuff :D
Queue banta.
Pretty sure intel's technology(e.g. cpu) is also powering war machines.
How about stop turning every comment into a moronic political statement.
There are only two words that can fully describe how amazing it is. One of them is amazing of course... and second word starts with F and ends with ING...
Happy 10th anniversary, Intel Pipe Dream!
this IS the best advertisement in existance
Heh, slightly more than their usual 4-note wonders ;)
IDC that this is nearly 10 years old. Making that IRL is STILL impressive to me.
amazing for a prototype but hope they fix some of the notes especially the low notes cause the high notes are what you hear the most in this.
THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD FULLY REALIZED
I was thinking of building one but it would take years and i'm only 10! But I have great knolledge when working with fire alarm systems commercial sound systems, microcontrollers, visual basic program writing, computers, burgular alarm, and circuits.
Hmmm the soundtrack seems dubbed.
In real life, I bet it sounds like Optimus Prime giving Robocop a tug in the bargain bin at a hardware store.
Sometimes I still wish people would just stop, watch, listen and enjoy.
I missed the scoops collecting used balls, but this was very nicely done - thank you!
I'd love to see it play the drums to YYZ by Rush.....
imafuckoffer love ur name 😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍😎🤘😝😁😊
Also, they're fun and look cool; like Harley Davidsons, Lamborghinis, monster trucks, private jets, speed boats... all things that have no practical value, but much sporting and recreational value.
A good technology and research brings this to life...
Great! Liked it!
Great build! (Now where did I put that box of 65C02's.... Hmmm...)
I'm blown away! I showed this to all my closest friends!! Channelintel, this is amazing!!
If television commercials were a tenth as impressive as this, I wouldn't need a DVR. My compliments to the Intel marketing department...
EPIC WIN FOR INTEL!!!!!
At 34 seconds there is a really handsome man standing behind all the people taking pictures.
Fun...and futuristic...
Intel marketing have it nailed!
My teacher used to play this as a clean up song.
Cowbell and Woodblocks are Fire
@cybermaster2000 the animated video is at least 11 years old. It was released on DVD in 2001.
So basically it just a giant high tech music box
this is creativition AMAZING..............
They should really put this on iTunes
It can severely reduce the cost of industry, which can itself be a precursor to stopping major wars from ever happening as it reduces energy needs. It can also improve packaging, reduce cost of crop distribution, and generally make industry more efficient in general, which can help reduce world hunger. The machine you see above is designed to showcase Intel's industry control system, which can process multiple IOs at alarming speed.
@Strongit i think you're right, but the balls are landing on the right notes, given that these would be synth instruments, it looks entirely possible to run it in real time
im surprise that creation hasn't crashed
I'm curious, I didn't see all the instruments there. For example, the crash cymbal and snare drum. I mean, I saw the crash cymbal, but I never saw it move, and for it to give that good of a crash, it would really have to be moving. Unless of course those balls are antimatter.
An electromechanical simulation of a visual simulation! ;-)
My only expressions throughout the entire video ranged from O.O to =D to ='D because I kept my eyes open too long.
This is absolutely amazing.
Your next challenge: Heavy Light.
Mind = Blown
This is the best Demo i ever heared! ♥
it still looks cool
@IrishThunder
Many of the instruments are electronic instruments that play their sounds through speakers when they are hit. This includes all of the drums and I would assume some of the symbols from what i saw in the video, although their us at least one that may be real. I guess it's even possible for all of the instruments to be electronic based on the computing system. Actually, that's almost definitely the case.
@rot8ing saving energy by using less consuming materials and using new technology which requieres less energy to perform better. They are saving.
I don't envy the person who had to pick up all the marbles the machine fired off after the performance
@themeaningofbobalina If you watch the original video, this happens too. The marimba's wooden bars/keys were not arranged chromatically, but chronologically.
jaw.dropped.
As much as i love this and as impressive as this is, im fairly sure this could be achieved on AMD as well :)
RMJ1984 Could be done on many processors actually :) Even older ones.
+RMJ1984 creativity is part of marketing bla bla bla u got me right :)
This is brilliant ! Sensational!!!!
Ever have an Erector Set?
7 years old, sneaking downstairs at 3am to watch the PBS donation drive, tripping balls to Animusic.
omg. total amazement.
Four years old? The animation is at least 8 years old!
This is the preamble, get ready for what coming!
@AndyYankee17 THANK YOU! finally someone understands!
spectacular!!!! it just goes to show with the knowledge and know how on what the human mind can accomplish through the world of science and innovation way to go intel keeps those minds thinking!!!
A-W-E-S-O-M-E .. no more words needed...
True, but knowledge in macro-physics, engineering, and programming can help create robotic limbs, safer cars, more better medical equipment, etc. An engineer can do as much good as a surgeon, if he chooses to create things that benefit people. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with one taking a few months off to create a cool contraption like this, though.
Realy cool!
Y’all have done an Extraordinarily amazing job on that! 😃
果然如果你毫无理由的喜欢一件东西,一定有它的原因,也一定你不是一个人~
Animusic: haha u cant make it real it’s digital >:)
Intel: hold my technology
If it was actually a real instrument it would have been more impressive. still nice attempt intel very impressive.
except that this is in fact a real instrument. A musical instrument is a device created or adapted to make musical sounds. In principle, any object that produces sound can be a musical instrument-it is through purpose that the object becomes a musical instrument. This clearly makes a musical rhythm that people can enjoy for their entertainment, therefore it is in fact a musical instrument.
Im pretty sure this isnt producing any sound
...well except the thuap of plastic on plastic.
Your voice is an instrument too. So, what you are gonna do?
***** What has that got to do with anything?
sacredgeometry I'm with you on this... people are stupid.
Within the realm of possible, but less than realistically comparable to the work that went into building this contraption.
If robotic surgeon proxies operated using a level of precision anywhere near that of this machine, the patient may as well have volunteered to have a running blender dropped into their innards.
Excellent!
@cybermaster2000 The original animation is almost ten years old by now!
No one:
Anyone else:
Winterganta: hold my marble
Now let's see them do Future Retro.
One does not simply take a photo of the masterpiece.
well im impressed.
Atomプロセッサで全部処理してんのか...すげえな
that's the closest it will get....they have to have someone re-fill the hoppers after every performance.
i think i like this one's instrument's more than the original, i wish i could get a mp3 of the whole thing
Im waiting to see if they recreate future retro
made in just in 3 months.. I would spend 3 years to imagine it in my mind...
Good to see Intel doing something useful ...
Wow, that is outrageous :)
I’d LOVE to see this irl
The last time I heard...are we in the future?
@AndyYankee17 I think it's more advertising their creativity and problem solving, and of course they'd use their own processors.
the video that intel was playing on the tv says the original animusic was from 2004... it was from 2001!
