    I was towing my boat with a 1998 Ford Expedition XLT 4.5L thinking I was going to have a nice day fishing and all of a sudden while driving to my destination, the hose on the left side of the radiator blew up! Seriously, blew up. Big hole where the hose clamped onto the radiator and took a chunk of plastic out from the hose connection. Got towed back home and immediately ordered a new radiator and came across your You Tube channel. I am very pleased the way you did this video instruction. I cannot wait to get my radiator for replacement. Outstanding video and thank you again! I subscribed....!!!!!

    BRO! you were sharp! i can tell you love what you do! a true mechanic. i also have a 1999 expedition..my radiator core support bracket rusted out.. i took to a body shop to make the repair..i go to pick up my vehicle..first thing i see , a oil leak , a big spot i didn't have before . it looks like it could be trans or power steering fluid . i didn't pop the hood to check myself, but he's going to send it to a repair garage to make repair. they knew they caused the leak. i hate shops like these. i'll tell you the name of shop once problem is solved. i do most of my repairs ,but i don't have the time or a garage where i could do the work myself. bottom line i stay on top of my vehicle . he the asks me! what i want him to do! i'm like come on man! i want it without the leak it didn't have when i dropped it off~it's hard to find honest mechanics out here. anyway ! again ! bro! you are on POINT! THANKS TO YOU IF I NEED TO REPLACE MY RADIATOR , Thanks to you, im going to walk right through this.

    Oh Lord ! I have a 98 Expedition in the Philippines: You have no idea how fun it is to try to work on it with no American Parts store on every other block, and even simple things like hose clamps sub-standard. been watching your video, just in case, as I'll be going back soon I hope and may take some extra radiator hoses. Love to take a new radiator, just in case... Last time it was a fuel pump...Oh my god, the FORD dealer on the island wanted $300 !!! .. Luckily, I found an in-tank pump for a Mitsubishi that was exactly the same for $40....... I was aware of those stupid lower hoses....only from watching another video. Thanks so much for the video...... I'll stock up on hose clamps for sure before I go...... adapt and overcome !!

      WOW, once you go back, it would be great to send us some pictures. I don't know what came over ford to make those hoses like that. Thanks for the comment, and can't wait to see some pics.

      Sent you a private message Timmy, with a link to Google Maps, satellite view , that actually has the Expedition in it WAY up in the boondocks in the mountains!!! Hard to believe they mapped up that unpaved , almost 4 wheel drive road !!!

      I am still looking at the scenery, such a wonderful place. Do you have to worry about snakes, or other animals?

    • @firemandkdkdk
      @firemandkdkdk 7 лет назад

      There are Poisonous tree vipers, I have yet to see one...like to keep it that way ! There are Pythons, again, haven't seen any in the wild, but they are there ....seen a few people kept as pets...not a snake guy myself..I worked 2-1/2 years as an animal control officer...before going permanent in the Fire Service... The tiny red ants are the worse...itchy , red patterns, the bigger red ants are more like red bumps..not fun..the caterpillars with hairs, oh god, stay away ...welts and so itchy... they have huntsman spiders, big and brown, more scary to look at than anything else.... banana spiders, black with yellow...poisonous.... your more likely to get bit by the neighbors dog...lol
      Right now, they just had an encounter with the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group in Bohol, which is too close for comfort, two islands east...they are way away from their base in the southern Philippines where my ex wife was from....Mindanao, Sulu, and Basilan. They are bad Ju-Ju, a Philippines version of ISIS that has pledged allegiance to Isis...
      I hope they deal with them once and for all..the country has more poverty and problems than they need , most people are good , hardworking folks trying to feed their families .
      I broke my arm in 3 places on my dirt bike there ...bad slow speed fall on slick concrete in the mountains..thank god my wife was alright ... I had given her Mom and Dad $400 to buy a Carabao (Water Buffalo) to use in their rice field . Theirs was poisoned by someone because it strayed into an adjoining field and destroyed some crops.
      When I broke my arm, her mom gave me the money back....that's what kind of people they are ...that doesn't happen often there ... $12,500 US dollars in surgery ( that blue shield paid back finally ) at Saint Lukes in Manila ( good hospital) , and two months later my wife was pregnant with our boy , who was born in August 2015. Finally a dad at 53.... and my parents grandparents at 80 ! So we have been back to California since December , 2015... I miss her family terribly as does she ... I hope we can go back soon...

    How do you put on a new hose using the OEM style Quick Connect factory installed in the hoses? The ones I have tried seem to be just barely too small to work onto the radiator. No matter how I rotate it, I can only get it on 1/8", about the thickness of the lips at the end of the 4 metal 'fingers' on the radiator male fitting. 2001 Expedition, 5.4L AWD, Auto Trans.

    omg man i have the same truck and having the same issue with my radiator. .. i had it. for a while now .. i dont really know much at all about cars but tend to look on line for video like these to fix certain issues myself.... i recently put some coolant in because it was bone dry and gave a smell through the vent when the ac was on but it turned into a brown gunk in the tank im guessing i put in the wrong kind but my question is can i flush it out and just put in the right fluids or should i just replace the whole radiator ... this is not my everyday car just a cash car i had for a while and dont want to get rid of

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  7 лет назад

      Official CKB, yes you can flush it out by using a regular garden hose. just flush the system out one way, then put the hose to the other end and do the same thing. It is EXTREMELY important to flush the system both ways, hope this helps!

    That was the best video I've seen. However, my problem is my 98 Ford expedition won't engage in drive but goes perfectly fine in reverse. I've changed the torque converter and still nothing. That tool you used to pop off the fan, where did you get it and what's it called? Thanks for your input , it was very informative.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you! The tool is called a fan clutch removing wrench set. As far as your transmission, if the fluid color was dark before you replaced the converter, that is a sign of something broken inside the transmission.

    • @corvettebob96

      Yup. I know his surprise at 11:59 . I was in the junk yard pulling a radiator. I too met my first Ford quick connect radiator hose. I snipped the heat shrink clamp off with side wire cutters. I got home and searched you tube. I removed the old one and now understand the concept. They take brute force(large channel locks and prybar) to get the quick connect hose off the radiator after being there 15 years. Anyone not familiar with the quick connect: There is a tab accessed from the bottom. Bend the tab straight, twist the hose 45 degrees either way and it is supposed to slide off. There is a small line on the bottom corner of the radiator. Align that tab with the line.

      I did yesterday. Just disconnect the fan shroud, disconnect the radiator and pushed the shroud as far back as I could. Tight squeeze and saved time. Its unnecessary to remove the fan in my opinion. Good video though.

  • @ManicMechanic007
    @ManicMechanic007 8 лет назад +3

    After bending back a small metal tab positioned on the ring, use a pair of large channel lock pliers to grasp the plastic collar and turn it 45 degrees to the left and it should pull apart. Yes, it is still difficult to release even after you have done a few. Stupid design, just like some heater hose disconnects, what a joke.
