    I am so *FURIOUS* that I forgot to cover the M3s returning to service in my Periodical, and I'm a Long Islander too! I wasn't sure if the battery powered SD40 was new for August so I decided to skip it, along with the Metra MAC since I couldn't find an official article on it.

    I saw a Charger on the California Zephyr while I was visiting Denver from college. As much as it's exciting to see a new locomotive on my local Amtrak line, it still feels sad that the Genesis are going to be retired and mostly scrapped. I do hope that if there's a last run of the Genesis locomotives, that I could be there to witness that last run.

    • @SlackActionBumble
      @SlackActionBumble Год назад +3

      At least the Chargers are objectively decent looking locomotives. Better looking than the Genesis tbh, if you put away the nostalgia rose tinted glasses.

      @@jayzowandzel9077 i totally agree. But still... for the last 50 years (since the F and E units got retired), it's been a cycle of one ugly engine replacing another. And we complain and hate the new engine, but then 20 years later we cry when it gets replaced by an even uglier engine.
      At least this time I'm not hearing a ton of complaints about the Chargers, prolly cuz the bar has been set so low

    • @saibattu7745
      @saibattu7745 Год назад +2

      @@SlackActionBumble Seems most of the complaints about the Chargers looks are reserved for the SC -44. The ALC-42 probably also benefits from the fact that we've seen it's face already on the ACS-64.
