Kick-ass!! Driving from MT back to Texas I stopped by Cuchara on Oct 3 to just check it out.....can't wait to see this video!! Anglefire got 40 inches so I suspect Cuchara was near that.
Weirdly, cool town and hill. Glad I got to ride there when the lifts were spinning in ‘96. My understanding is they built the lifts on the wrong side of the mountain where the snow doesn’t deposit as much (which kind of makes sense), or so I was told by a patroller that I met while riding “Burnout.” Hope Cuchara can get the lifts spinning again.
@@johnfitzgerald1879 yeah being on the front range it’s really windy. I could notice that the wind in the sun had already reached pretty good havoc on the 46 inches. The slopes near lift 5 face direct east but a few trails by lift 3 have a better aspect. The Burn looked like fun but definitely avalanche terrain so I didn’t check it out!
Tough snow with not much pitch, but you handled it well. Fun to see Cuchara alive again. Hope they can make it work.
Earn those turns buddy. A great way to spend a day.

This is the story I grew up hearing! Unfortunate because it really is a hidden gem. Been visiting since the 90’s

Great skiing, dude! I know that snow feels really strange, haha.
@@ashtonsuire8836 it was variable. I definitely had a few really good turns up there at Cuchara! Very special I got to ski all that snow up there!
CC you are an animal! The stoke has started!
I used to live there! Still my favorite place in the world.

I have skied Cuchara. In 1998. I think? I have a pin.

@@bobfdowd that’s awesome! That pins got to be worth some money!
Looks like the ski area will need some work before they can open it.
