As a fellow revert, I relate to the struggle to wear hijab full-time. It took about a month after I made shahada before I did and I knew that certain members of my family would not approve (they still don't). At the end of the day peoples issues with Islam is their issue not ours. We make the best decisions for us and I'm glad you finally stepped into your truth. May Allah swt continue to bless you and your lovely family :)

I think its hard for some because they're scared of what people might think. I am a Muslim convert from Texas, I've worn hijab for 7 years now and ill say it's been easy alhamdulillah. I mean I was paranoid at first but I found that most people don't really care about it . They may ask where I'm from and why I wear it, or if I'm hot. But thats really about it. Alhamdulillah Allah makes it easy for the ones with the rights intentions. And may Allah keep our hearts always steadfast.

I'm a revert living in London now, but originally come from a small village in Worcestershire. I definetly get the looks when I visit back home, but in London i've had no issues at all since wearing the hijab (or before... bare in mind I put hijab on 5 years after converting!) I was so so paranoid what people would think and say, I was so terrified I only told my one friend and just turned up to university class, and meeting with my friends, in hijab without any warning. And nobody said a thing! I think the people closest to you will know you're an independant, smart women and not insult you in thinking someone else has had the power to influence you so much! And unfortunately, as a white woman, there will always be a number of people who assume you converted or put hijab for your husband, whether that's now or in 20 years time! Best of luck, and you look beautiful mashAllah.

Dear Sister, I’m a convert as well and it is very hard at the beginning and putting on hijab. I live in the US in Texas where there’s a lot of Islamic phobia! Like you said in your video this is a choice you made for yourself and be proud of who you are and feel confident as well! I have had positive and negative responses from family or friends but at the end of the day I know Allah is always with me and has made a plan for me. He guided you to him and that is the biggest blessing! With the difficulty with family just keep trying and show them love you will have hard times and difficult conversations and there might be conflict but I can say turning to Allah helps you through these moments. Insha’Allah Allah will make it easy for you! My heart goes out to you! If I can help anyway please reach out!

Congratulations Rachel, I actually had a gut feeling that you'll be wearing a hijab the next time we see you (after your Ramadan video), because you said that you fasted with intention, and because you haven't made videos for a while. Apart from the spiritual aspect, which is obviously the most important one, I think this sends out a beautiful message to outsiders about your positive experience living in a Muslim / Arab country and immersing yourself with its culture and people as it clearly plays a big part and reflects heavily on making such an important life decision.
Mabrook :) this is your decision and it's not up to anyone to question you about it or try to bring you down. Best of luck and I hope you continue studying and learning about Islam InshAllah! We are all behind you.

      @KDCO92 4 года назад

@@Batya-Grace I am very much aware that other faiths fast with intention. But she stated that in her Ramadan video...so one can safely assume she's fasting as a Muslim (since she's doing it during the Muslim holy month). If for example she was fasting during lent, one would assume she's fasting according to the Christian tradition.

Hey, It’s Jesse from school. If you remember me! I totally understand where you are coming from with the atheist stuff. I was also raised to feel like faith was silly and not for thinkers, but that has changed for me and it can feel difficult to talk about with my family and friends of old. But I’m often surprised by how many of our peer group are open about it and also have been through heart changes in this way. I think the challenges of adulthood and parenting can really calm the callousness of youth and find people seeking comfort, meaning and journeys that are deeply personal. Our lives are full of rituals. We are all very superstitious however “logical” we might think we are. Rituals are how we think and how we deal with day to day life. Head coverings are part of that. People sniffing at them has become fodder for politicians and the press. But for everyone else just getting on with life it’s just another ritual. You are brave and courageous and real. You also rock the head covering. Love from Norwich x

God gives u that courage. But then suddenly people remind u every once in a while how it's weird for them & u start asking urself if they're treating u differently because of the hijab or for other reasons. Hard to distinguish. Anyway, I LOVE it, it's become a huge part of my identity & even on the bad days I remember that I SIMPLY wear it because God wants me to. Simple as that. U don't owe anyone any explanation. Think: what would God want me to do? And then u immediately know what's best for u. That's the beauty of it. Don't be hard on urself tho, small steps 💛

I just want to say that I think that you're fantastic. I started watching your videos cuz I wanted a little bit more inside from a person that is not originally from Jordan because my fiance is palestinian-jordanian. I live in America and myself I learned the history of Jordan and the Islamic faith I've read the Quran several times just to have a better understanding. I did that for myself. My fiance has never said when we marry do you have to become Muslim will be strictly up to me so what you're doing is very positive. I'm looking forward to your new videos keep up the good work.

    Hi.
So this is the first time I've ever commented on any video I've ever watched..
I hope you don't get any negative comments and that this video is met with happiness and support.
Coming out in any faith can be a very tricky thing.
I was raised in a Catholic family and when I converted to Buddhism, some of the elders in my family were very angry and confused and still are to this day despite having converted over 15yrs ago.
But with support of loved ones, the journey got easier and I hope you have the same experience.
Don't let anyone make you feel bad about converting, you do you and ignore those who would try to tear you down.
I also understand exactly what you meant about the area you grew up in, in regards to how people feel about the Muslim faith.
I grew up in Australia and there is still alot of hatred towards those who are Muslim..
I myself had alot of unjustified hatred towards them until I met a girl from Lebanon who changed the way I viewed the faith and women in the middle east and since then I've been educating myself about Islam.
And whilst I'm a Buddhist, I still participate in Ramadan as I think the message behind it is beautiful.
I think more people need to educate themselves about the faith so they can realise it's not about hatred and repression of women and all the other horrible stereotypes that go around..
Best of luck on your journey and thanks for the videos, I love them..

I'm unequivocally against hijab being forced on anyone, and I believe most whom wear it do so not by choice. A good percentage of women do it out of pressure from parents or society, it's not just following their religion.
My opinion on it is that it's another way to control and oppress women.
But I totally respect you choice. The keyword here is CHOICE.
P.s: my 2 sisters whom both over 30 (I'm 34), wear hijab and they wish they'd the freedom to not wear it without causing a sh*tstorm. I always tell them that I support their decision no matter what. No one should live their life on someone else's expectations.

Rachel you're really brave for making this video, thank you for sharing this decision with us, I know it must have been really hard but it'll get easier with time once you grow into your new skin and feel more grounded in your decision and beliefs. It doesn't matter what people think or say, don't let it bother you, just in one ear and out the other. It's true that words can be hurtful, sometimes even looks or change of behavior of those we love and care about around us would be what hurts the most, but you have to keep reminding yourself that you made this decision because you believe it's what's best for you, don't let anyone ever take that away from you or make you feel bad about it. It's not an easy decision to make, but hopefully it will reflect well on your life and your peace of mind later on. There's great peace and strength that comes with knowing there is a creator that takes care of us, forgives us and hears our prayers and pleas when we're in need. It's a journey, and a beautiful one, and I hope you will keep exploring and learning about Islam and what kind of Muslim you want to be.
I don't know you personally, but I can tell from your videos that you are a great, loving mother and I'm sure a wonderful wife, as well as a smart, gentle woman, so I wish you and your family the best in life and know that you will be in our prayers
P.S. you look absolutely beautiful in your hijab

I'm so proud of you for wearing it, it was hard for me as a Muslim arab girl so I can't imagine how it would be for you, but know that you're so brave ❤❤

I personally admire your journey, the process of how you came to Jordan knowing nothing about it, challenging environment, becoming on a religion unlike your family and people you have always known, and ended up wearing hijab after you've been on social media for a while. expecting to be anything but easy. you made your choices, bravery, truly admiration. I think u need not to worry about how the process went, no plan ever made it for me 😅
