@alstonpmaroon Palmer was a great character and James Mitchell was also I believe a singer, dancer and of course actor with a very long career in movies and TV.
Angie & Jesse. The Male/Female Jackie Robinson of Soaps who kicked the door open for other African American Soap Couples like Gilly/Hamp Kat/David Marcus/Dahlia (Guiding Light), not to mention Neil/Drucilla Y & R.
Adam also stayed in Pine Valley, PA because he knew he'd have to pay "Less" on his Taxes like Palmer Cortlandt. Those two may have hated each other, but they showed it's not where you come from that's important but where you end up. Not bad for two guys who were once thought of as "Trailer Trash".
"Short story arc"... wish it were a contract... but I'll take what I can GET! AMC has been so piss-poor quality lately that ANYTHING in the right direction (ie: putting Opal back on contract) will keep me tuning in.
Does anyone know what buiding "Chandler Enter." actually was? Supposedly they used "Wayne Manor" from "Batman" as exteriors for the Cortland mansion. I have watched AMC since 1979. (very loyal fan in the 1980's and early 1990's but now only catch it once in a while). Speaking of Batman I don't like Catwoman playing Mrs. MArtin (Tad's adoptive mother, right?)!
By today's standards if Ryan had said "I Fell In Love With A Woman" folks would have said "Why couldn't you say I Fell In Love With My Soulmate" I told UK Soap Fans that Chadwick Boseman left the role of Reggie Montgomery because he didn't want to be a Thug. Michael B. Jordan replaced him and of course they became legends in "Panther". Michael was a Hit on The UK Chat Show Allan Carr, they loved him, in fact Cheryl Ann Tweedy formerly of Girls Aloud flirted with him.
Here's another funny Co-Incidence that All My Children has in Common with Britian's Coronation Street, they recycle folks. Think about it, Jesse McCartney played Young JR Chandler who came on the show after his Group disbanded and became a Teen Idol. He did a Scene with Jacob Young (JR Chandler) as an adult. In The Uk William Roache who has been playing Ken Barlow on Coronation Street since it's debut in 1960 worked with his Real Life Son Linus Roache in the 1970's who played his TV Son Peter Barlow, he "Left" then Linus comes back as Alex Ken's Long Lost Son by his College Sweetheart Susan Cunningham. He did a Scene with The Longest Running Peter Barlow #7 played by Chris Gascoyne.
Remember how MEAN he was back in the 80's? PC was OFF THE CHAIN! Telling his daughter she was going blind so she wouldn't marry a man he didn't like. . .turning the dogs on his ex-wife. . .Damn! Sorry to hear that he passed the other day. He has certainly been missed on the show over the past few years.
When I saw the beginning of this to 1:35 I knew it wouldn't be like the other anniversary shows AMC have done in the past, so I didn't watch. Way too much focus and input from new characters instead of indulging in the shows rich history and memorable characters and storylines. I know shows like to cater to younger viewers because its an important demographic group, but still.. for older viewers like me, it just wasn't good.
Great episode! I especially loved the Hubbards and Martins.
This was the best thing of '10 for sure. I loved how it was filmed in the mockumentary style. :)
40th
This gentleman that portrays JR gets more handsome every year! Gorgeous!
It was a great episode, watched it earlier. Wish there were more flashbacks, but it was great nonetheless. Looking forward to a better year for AMC...
i stopped watching amc some time ago but i had to watch this episode! good stuff, i just might have to tune back in
Brooke didn't die. She moved to China to be near her daughter Laura. She's actually returning to the show for a few months starting on the 23rd.
I love the opening
All my children the daytime soap opera of all time

This was the final appearance of James Mitchell (Palmer). He passed away a couple weeks later.
It was good to see Palmer one last time.
Pine Valley was voted the best town in America?? How the HELL did that happen?
Angie & Jesse. The Male/Female Jackie Robinson of Soaps who kicked the door open for other African American Soap Couples like Gilly/Hamp Kat/David Marcus/Dahlia (Guiding Light), not to mention Neil/Drucilla Y & R.
Where did you get your info about Brooke coming back for an actual story arc... is this REAL??? If so, EXCELLENT!
@TimothySEnglish Her daughter Laura with Tom died. Then she adopted another girl named Laura.

@GenXorcist1976 Oh it's official alright. I've seen in o pretty much ebery soap website.
"Short story arc"... wish it were a contract... but I'll take what I can GET! AMC has been so piss-poor quality lately that ANYTHING in the right direction (ie: putting Opal back on contract) will keep me tuning in.
If pine valley was only a real place
Kelly Robinson Right because I would move there for real right now
Me too!!! :)

@ackgh73994 i was glad she returned to reprise her role in AMC
@travis082185 She can't. Mary Fickett is bedridden and suffering from memory loss.

I know this is way late, but Dream Street was formed the year after he joined AMC, and they dissolved the year after he left.
@prckay Yeah and?

Still now too. RIP JM.

I hope Erica Kane never meets up with Stefano DiMera.
