This is fascinating. Genetically we are all ‘in’ Adam and participants in Adam’s sin. We can be critical of Adam, but not one of us would have done any better.

Dawn, you could not have said it better! The only way in which we can be made truly righteous is through the path of redemption that God has laid out for us: regeneration (by believing the gospel), progressive sanctification and becoming more like Jesus through the challenges of daily life, the work of the Spirit, and our cooperation (Romans 8:28-29, Philippians 2:12-13, Galatians 5:22-23), departure from these bodies in which our sin nature resides (Romans 7:23-25), and finally glorification through resurrection (Philippians 3:20-21). The ultimate goal will be what John refers to when he says in 1 John 3:2, "Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be; but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." What a wonderful prospect, and what an amazing grace!
