She was more strong than flexible, I'd say. She definitely had an amazing flexibility, of course. But all the acro she did was more about strength and tumbling, not exactly contortion, like Brook, for example, did. As someone who is struggling each day to learn dance by myself at a too small home, it makes me sad to see a dancer regress and loose passion, but everybody has different choices and goals.

When anyone gets older being flexible if not so naturally requires lots of training and stretching. Also if she branched out into different forms of dance it would require different set of muscles and skills. If she wants something she will have to practice and stretch.
Losing certain skills from early on in her dancing when she was young is not negative as it helped her get to know herself and her body. As long as what she is dancing and doing is purposeful fir her than please leave her be

We also need to realize that having that flexibility without the strength to support it is dangerous to our alignment. I’m not saying she lost the strength but it’s very possible if she hasn’t danced to much. And honestly looking back at her younger days, I would say she fully had the strength to support it then. I used to be hyper flexible just like her until I became a dance major in college and they taught me how to gain strength. I ended up losing a little flexibility but overall my technique and alignment has improved!! Moral of the story is flexibility won’t do any good without the strength to support it!!

Relatable . I used to learn traditional and folk dancing during my childhood and I was one of the few male dancer in the class that can do contortion tricks (most male dancers focus on leg flexibility more than backbending) . After I quits dancing, my back went stiff not soon after, followed by leg flexibility. Now, I can still do basic scorpion and splits but not advance poses like needle, tilt, teardrop etc. Our bones hardened as we grew older and that contributes to the loss of flexibility (unless you keep stretching everyday of course) 💁🏻‍♂️

Mmmm honestly Mackenzie wasn’t particularly “flexible”, even as a young child. Plus a lot of the contortion stuff she used to do weren’t technically executed well so that plus not being naturally flexible, well it exacerbates the fact that she wouldn’t be as flexible as she got older. He was and still is amazing!
She had more time and had better reason to stretch when she was a kid and people are usually more flexible when they are little.
I am a cheerleader and I do not need to be flexible for it.
When I started all I could do was a bridge from the floor and a cartwheel (barely).
But I needed to change the way I did them for cheer.
    They are different.
Back to the point you don't need to be flexible or know many cool tricks to dance or anything but it really does help.
I just finished my first year of cheer thanks to covid but since the start I was trying to get my splits and middle splits.
Since then I can now do my splits and I am only like less then ten centimeters of the ground for my middle.

I truly believe that when dancers grow, especially going through puberty, if they don’t train consistently they’ll experience a regression in flexibility. Even so, your body isn’t as easy to get in the air or off the ground as compared to being a child. We’re talking going from 70 pounds to like 120-130. It’s a drastic change. It’s the same thing with ice skaters. Many of them stop skating because they can’t handle the fluctuation in their body and they can’t do as many turns or get off the ice as easily as they could when they had a smaller frame. Kenzie is still flexible but she doesn’t train in classical ballet anymore and she’s physically larger than she was. It doesn’t matter though. She’s still venturing into different dancing styles and that is just as amazing.
