Building a Mini Japanese Toolbox

- I was in the mood to build something basic and simple and for the longest time I've been intrigued by the idea of making a mini Japanese toolbox. The lid system is so clean and ingenious! I used a resawed 2x4 for wood, and I also added a bit of leather to the wedge.

Love the build. Reminds me of those wooden puzzles the way the lid is secured.
Interested to know if anyone has used a slight taper on the edge of the wedge so it doesn't lift
These are great. There is something Wonderful about the Japanese tool box.
finally a build again, instead a show off... so much better, ihope more to follow, and it was nice you used hand tools, i loved the dynamic from the box. Jeg håper du er tilbake med mer fin lille prosjekter!
Jeg er helt enig!
love it when you make.
It's is funny how the traditional Japanese tool box was humble, utilitarian and nailed together, yet the tools inside were some of the finest in the world that make amazing joinery.
A very interesting box and a well designed lid. I enjoy when you're building, thanks for sharing!
Really beautiful work, Linn! The leather was a great touch! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks MC, you too!
Nice detail with this small leather pull 👍
Thanks! Small but nice.
Love to see you making things again!!
Oh I like the leather pull tab.
I thought the chiseled resess would be for the thickness of the leather.
Nice work! Glad to see something other than a product review.
Very nice. I like that you made it from construction lumber, yet your end product looks quite refined. Thanks for sharing.
It's neat isn't it how "nice" framing lumber can be.
What a cool little box.
excellent little box, great video, nice editing, and calming music. bravo!
Linn I love these small projects. One of my favorite ones was the fairy light globe. Please do more like these.
ASMR and cool crafting❤❤❤
👍❤
Seeing you do all the joinery, reminds me so much of watching Norm Abram on New Yankee Workshop, but yours has "LEATHER ACCENTS", a true Linn original touch right there 👍. Perfect.
Haha, thanks Eric!
Lovely job, nice to see a wood work project
Yay! You reach to making!
Good work with the hand tools
I like these Japanese toolboxes. After seeing this I want to build my own!
They're addictive, I feel the same way.
