Kid in green is wrestling dirty, but.... that's pretty common in wrestling. I remember in high school wrestling people grabbing headgear to pull it down in your eyes, cross faces that were actually punches, fingers getting way too close to orifices, padlocks that were used as ball smashers. Just a dirty sport all around even though I still love it. Refs need to pay better attention to that shit. Dirty wrestlers will use whatever they need to in order to win. Refs need to call that out and as I remember they did a shit job at it.

Fingers getting way too close to orifices??? More like those fingers be checking for oil. You’re a quart low buddy! Hell, if it can get a pitbull to let go of it’s bite lock, you know good and well it can get some teenage kid to flip onto his back. Orifice protection is an instinctual priority, its across-the-board, species to species. Believe that.

This is what happens when your coach only teaches you the head and arm and not how to shoot. Only works if you’re stronger than the other kid and can get it done before you get shot on- against anyone with actual skill, the head and arm is what loses it for them all together. Kid in green needs a better coach. He did look like he was swinging but honestly I think he just hasn’t been taught anything except ‘go for the head’ which is bad advice and will be the reason he sometimes wins but always the reason why he loses.

    • @andyauten628

I coached for 20 years and told my team you are only allowed to use a headlock in the last 30 seconds of a match you are loosing.

I've coached wrestling for 35 years. I don't believe the kid in the green was punching to wanting to fight. He was just trying for a very poor head & arm attempt, over and over. Two things should have happened...
    1. The ref (young kid) should've stopped the action and explained to the kid in the green that he can't wind up like that and awarded the kid in Maroon a penalty point for unnecessary roughness.
    2. The other coach should have done a better job coaching and talked (coached) his kid to stop trying that move, get in a damm stance, and work on head snaps, instead of desperately trying that head and arm. Lastly, the kid in the maroon should have just got into a better stance (bending his legs/arms out front and just have done (blow through double legs), just my opinion. Good Luck and make sure your boy continues to have fun in the sport. It's a long journey and learning from every match, will only make him better.

Punch or just a crappy attempt at a head throw? Yes, both. The kid only had 1 takedown move that he tried and he didn't use good technique even at that. Kudos to the kid in red for keeping his cool and for making the green kid pay for terrible execution. I hate that coaches even teach that move. Kids think it is awesome then rarely try shooting after that. Just sloppy.

so much wrong here, we will start with a non wrestler, kid in green has no skills at all, Some of his attempts were headlock attempts I saw 3 blatant punches thrown to the head that should have stopped the match. The ref had no business on the mat there should have been warnings over several things and an ejection for the punches. Surprised Im the only one who picked up on the Illegal headlock atleast once and possible twice. Kid in the red was the better wrestler but he has no skill from bottom and needs to work in his top game. He had a pretty good take down but does not know how to break down a wrestler and keep him broken down, has a weak turn for pin or back points, and his mat returns are not existent. From what I see its pretty sloppy all the way around including the ref.

It really did "look" like the kid was swinging... but i think it was more just a lack of experience and coaching. The kid never had that look in his eye like he was trying to do damaged or frustration really. He probably only had confidence in a head and arm takedown and was violently going for it.

To be fair, they were wrestling without a real ref. He can't possibly be licensed. Uniform was absurdly wrong. Wristbands on the wrong wrists. Missed out of bounds, 3 flagrant misconducts, illegal holds, and grasping the headgear. Way too close so that he interfered with the wrestling on several occasions.

Kid in Green's parents are failing him. That's horrible sportsmanship. The Ref sucks too for not warning him.

Kid in green had no business out there. Never attempted to wrestle. Kid needs counseling. The ref should never ref again. No business.

I remember at some meets hearing parents actually yelling for their kid to punch their opponent. And some even yelling to break an arm, not break it down but to actually break the arm.
One year, my kids senior year, he was at a tournament just before Christmas break. His opponent realized that my kid had a bad shoulder and constantly yanked on it and hyper extending it. The other kid won while mine had to go to the locker room and get his shoulder checked out. One of the teammates little brother overheard the other guy telling his girlfriend that he should have broken my kids arm. Which made the kid brother tell us that he was going to have to hurt the other guy because the kid brother liked my kid.
Fast forward to January and another tournament. My kid had a rematch with the other kid. With a big difference this time, my kid told his coach that he was not going to listen to him, but rather he was going to listen to the opposite coach. My boy said that he might not win the match, but he was sure going to make the other kid earn the win.
The opposition coach was just like those aggressive parents, telling the kid to do certain moves and to go for the bad shoulder. My kid countered the moves. During a blood time, the opposition coach was really riding the kid hard for not listening to him and berated the kid when he told his coach that he was doing as told, but he (my kid) was countering everything. I got some of my favorite wrestling pictures of that match!
After all 3 periods, the other kid won, but my kid walked off the mat with his head held high. I moved back to where I was sitting and plugged my camera into the outlet so it could charge. My kid went to the opposite end of the gym with his teammates. The kid who won came and sat down by me after getting reamed by his coach. The kid was hyperventilating and was really pale. He did calm down though. That is until my kid looked across the gym at me and gave a 'hey' wave and nod. I guess the other kid thought my kid was looking at him ( he was pretty much right next to me) and he started hyperventilating again and ran out of the gym. Heard that he quit wrestling for the rest of that season.
A year later my kid and I went to a tournament at the high school, my kid was on break from college and met up with some of his wrestling buddies. He came up to me and asked if I had heard that kids name called on deck. I had and we looked at the bout sheets for my kids weight class, #132, but that kids name wasn't there. Instead he was wrestling #175. And he got pale when he saw my kid, but calmed down a little when he noticed my kid was in street clothes.
My kid wanted to ask coach if he could got get changed into a singlet just to mess with the other kid, but I told him that would be too mean. Instead my kid just made sure to walk by the other kid a few times that day.
Sorry it got long, but just wanted to share that sometimes the kid that gets cheated on can overcome the cheater 😉 😏
Edited to add - the little kid brother - just got his 100th career win! This is his senior year, he was state champion his junior year 😁 And we are all so very proud of him! 😎

awesome story!! idk why i just felt like there could have been a moment where ik the kid did some shit but maybe coulda told him like "hey you should switch coaches, and wrestle with some class" or something like, sometimes just talking to someone can help them, idk like its good thing that your kid has a good coach and support system, but that other kid, idk seems like he has a shit coach and is probably super intimidated by him, probably would have a better time wrestling and at least be fair with a new coach

Kid in green has one move and was trying for it the whole match. Kept going for the head but couldnt get anything going. No control over his own arms. I know they are still young and lots to learn but man it made me cringe watching him just flail his arms like that
