What if EVERY NATION was 200 development? (EU4)

- In today's Europa Universalis IV video we will be checking out a mod that sets every nation in the world at ~200 development, giving everyone as equal of a chance as possible to survive and thrive? Some nations are huge, like those in Asia and Africa, and some are tiny like those in Europe, but everyone will have their chance!

Oh my god thank you I didn't expect you to actually use my mod in one of your videos! I remember when posting the prototype of this someone said that I should send this to you, didn't think you would do it!
Anyway, answering a few questions/notes you did throughout the video:
- Turko-Iranian is AQ's starting culture. I wanted one tag per culture and since Karaman was Turkish already I wanted something else for AQ.
- Yeah I wanted some more unknown tags, but some of them could have easily changed to a more normal tag. Like I was debating on Finland vs Sweden, Byzantium vs Ottomans, etc.
- No I did not change province warscore calculations from vanilla. I did make the AI more agressive though.
Also other fun facts comparing this run to my own AI only games:
- Iberia is not normally this stable. Andalusia tends to be an early death here being partitioned between Portugal Morocco and Aragon
- Burgundy in my runs does good and tends to form France. Without anyone uniting France this is probably why GB and Germany did so good.
- Brandenburg forming Germany is unusual, in my runs if there is a German power it is either Frankfurt->Westphalia or Landshut->Bavaria
- Italy dying is rare, but when they do it tends to be to France or Portugal instead of the Balkan power.
- Hungary if they do good tend to expand into the Balkans instead of westward.
- The nomadic nations (The usual Hordes, I changed them to Tribal Federations so their AIs don't die) tend to have strong early games but fall apart starting in the mid-1600s. Golden Horde/Kazan surviving until end game is a surprise.
- Southeast Asia basically all falling to Korea/Wu is rare, there tends to be some big power in Indochina like Ava, Siam or Khmer and Malaya tends to form roughly 2/3 of the time. I guess because the region was so static.
- No idea why Multan never formed Punjab, I programmed their AI to basically always switch to Sikh and form Punjab if they never take Delhi.
- Syria winning the Middle East is rare but not unprecedented, but I am surprised they did not expand into either Mamluks or Byzantium like a "western Middle East" power tends to do.
I think it would be awesome to see everyone having 200 development but with the exact same map as in vanilla
the HRE would look like Megacity One from Judge Dredd
Thats what I thought it was.
Ecumenopolis Japan
Holy aggressive expansion 🤣
Thats why i clicked on the video. Awesome idea was disappointed that it wasnt what i thought. Still watched tho

"Uzbek! Are you alright!?"
"FINLAND!!"
korea didn't have perfect 1444 borders, this sucks !
Korea didn't annex the world by 1445 this sucks
There was no Finno-Korean Hyperwar, this sucks!
it does now.
NEW video idea: What if every occupied province changes to the occupier’s culture and religion (Week 1)0
Example: If a Catholic religion Francien culture France occupies London, London would then become Catholic religion and Francien culture, and stay that way even if France does not take that province.
That would be chaos. Two countries would basically switch cultures during a siege war. I love it. Would it change if it was seized back?
It would
Oh cool, I was hoping you'd make this vid. I saw the mod posted on Reddit and I recommended that the mod author send this to you.
Also wide Korea is both beautiful and horrifying.
They did comment on my video from Monday I think, I was already ahead of them lmao
@@Chewbert Thanks for the videos man, you fill the Drew-shaped hole in my heart.
I changed a few AI's, like Korea I made them able to declare wars (they won't select Inward Perfection all the time), when I made the mod myself they were a consistent GP in Asia
There's a mod, I don't know if you've ever heard of it, it' called Post Finem. Very fun mod you can do ai only with it on newest patch.
Ohhhhh might have to check it out!
@@Chewbert passed the vibe check
Imo this says way more how insane and ahistorical base game EU4 balance is. Just the Moscow area having as much development as ALL OF EGYPT + a bunch of extra land too? In fucking 1444? Sure paradox, sure.
I mean... I guess? Seems like a strange thing to complain about PDX for lol
Always thought paradox has been shying away from showing the inequalities between places, states and peoples. I remember in EU3 playing as the inca was horrible bcs it was horrible for the incas. And i loved it
Meanwhile I am looking at China's 5 nations vs India's 9 and the HRE's 11.. yeah East Asia should have more development
Cool video, would have been cool to keep the boarders and have added the development to the areas. So some of the smaller nations get larger development while the larger ones are more sparse. Could be neat to see
For once, I'd just like to see Orissa get a dub. Every single time they start to have a decent game, they get eaten by their neighbors.
Video idea: every province has 30 dev, and everyone has the Prussian Monarchy reform. Would make things....interesting. Especially with that lower gov cap
Wait, today isn't Monday.... and we got a Chewbert video? It can't be. A blessing from the Lords!
Ditching the schedule, putting out videos as much as possible as I finish them, enjoy 🤝
This makes me want to see an implementation of the Finno-Korean Hyperwar
What if every nation had 200 development but without map changes. So Ming is still big but with low dev provinces whereas Lübeck is a 200 dev opm
Probably a lot of work but I wanna see the Old World on the New World. Europe in NA, ME in CA with Greece in Cuba, Asia in SA, Africa in Australia
Wow that was one of the easily more entertaining runs I've seen. Great to see a lot of nations compete rather than run away with it and the outcome becomes too obvious. Excellent mod!
I was hoping for the HRE to be extreamly overpowered with all the one province minors, this makes this video a bit less fun
I’d love to see what this would look like with normal 1444 culture and religion
As well as HRE and mandate mechanics too
@@The_Proud_Texan Who would even have the mandate? Ming does not exist
Every country starts with no army no navy
Italy giving Croatia the same treatment Croatia does to Bosnia
I thought colonization would take place here. None of that though :/
What if there was super regional nations but they had only certain chock points on the map that forced them to attack in one or the other direction. Mainly using wastelands to keep AI nations in a sandbox and force them to attack other nations. But no nation can take colonial ideas.
I could do that in my mod, but I do not know which tags I should set up as 'chokepointed' nations. A few of them already come close only having a few neighbors especially on the edge of the map
I kinda hoped that something wacky would happen like Russia forming and completing its mission to get 2 free colonists for 100 years and just getting a new world colony that way
Finally a game where Norway can do good, i hope colonization isn't disabled for some reason!
Chrew: allow me to introduce myself
Day 1 of an idea: delete every country over 15 provinces
Eu4 but its north and south America only?
Pov: Start watching, see karaman get eaten
-leave
My favourite Korea so far. The real big blue blob.
Have you ever made a video on "The Odd Empires"? It's one of the weirdest EU4 mods I've ever seen
I want to soon
Finland💘
4 GB FINLAND
NOOOO GERMANY MAY GOD CURSE YOU
i think the reason the ai dev'd this game is probably cause theres no new world realisticaly
Do a divergence of light mod AI only
Rare footage of Korea doing something:
If I make a mod for new world only would you play it? Because if you do i will set too work.
If it’s a good mod
@@Chewbert I will give it my best I have a good idea
What if every nation had exactly one province in the new world and the old world was completely empty?
Maybe add some colonizing stuff...
sup
Good video
What if all nations started the game allied?
Should have gave serbia bulgaria and byz the rest of greece 😫😫
I was after the serbian empire borders, yes i do know a serbian who suggested this to me
@@mackycabangon8945they never controlled attica or peloponese
@@wh6057 yeah fair
i can easily change the map to give Serbia Bulgaria instead of Greece, and it would still fit the 200 development rule. I'll change it real quick
idk i just thought serbia/byz being west-east looked a bit better but now that you mentioned it, i am shifting both of those two
Do a video with each province its own nation
Bro the pc will explode
I'm partial to pink Fars
Nonsense heresy!
@@Chewbert I will e-mail John Paradox to have Fars be pink in EU5, lol
I understand how lag is frustrating, but I just think you should keep the natives more because deleting them feels an awful lot like saying they weren't important to history as a whole, along with endorsing the myth that the New World was mainly empty when the Europeans arrived.
I explicitly said towards the beginning of the video video that I did not delete the natives but they were deleted via the mod. Also, I deleted them in other videos because they are annoying and cause lag and have no impact on the gameplay. Trying to tie in some weird historical context is just cringe imo
I deleted the natives myself in the mod. Doesn't fit the battle royale vibe i went for and the New World does not cleanly divide into 200 development sections. Also the AI struggles with Nahuatl/Mayan/Inti mechanics
that beautiful finland 👌🏻
That map to start is AWESOME.
