My r3s so far are Domino, Bishop, Peni, Killmonger and Serpent. All strong defenders that can be used on attack. Personally don’t think that trend is going to end for me
I think Shang Chi belongs in the Excellent Options tier. The amount of Champions he can take in BG's is insane. I've taken Dooms, Bishops, Peni Parker, Photons, Scorpions, Hulklings, FAM's and even Onslaughts, ONSLAUGHT!!. He might be the furthest thing from a defender but his on demand utility and damage is just insane.
His ignorance to Shang Chi means I can’t take this video seriously and can’t even bring myself to watch past the 3 min mark. And I’m out on a walk and bored and still can’t watch/listen to it
I would do photon! She is similar to r3 maestro. Her rank 3 makes so many matchups harder, rank 2 mantis doesn’t kill with 1 sp2, cgr takes a bit longer and takes more block damage decreasing the amount of points he can get, and all ok counter to her such as Kate will take longer to remove her, creating more changes for things to go bad… And with rank 3 photon 1 miss play, 1 sp2 in pure light will kill you more often than not! I had rank 2 photon for a while and she wasn’t anything special, as soon as I rank 3 her, she started to be a good defender for me
Omitting moleman is criminal. Shock immune, guaranteed crits, true strike to ramp up, OWNS path 4 in high end AW fights, endless purify, and crazy dot damage. He hits sooooo hard at R3 and can catch people on defense in BG's with 1 mistake. Love the videos but I have to defend my man MOLEMAN!
He's a great champ but based on his uses he is good at r2 as things stand and doesn't need the r3 as much as the other champs mentioned. One for the future for sure when we see more r3 AW defenders.
Chavez. My favourite rank 3 I ever did. I feel like she got the biggest jump in damage just by going from rank 2 to 3. A rank 3 hits way harder than a rank 2
I just took Aarkus to r3 for Valiant! I think 7* Luke Cage is absolutely worth r3. He is one of the safest Kindred counters with his concussions from special 2. His ability power rate control with his exhaustion debuffs (which also turn off Sassy), make him solid for certain matchups. His damage is also very good for all lengths of fights. He is definitely my favorite science champ
Hey Lags I took Adam to rank 3 and he’s a beast! I learned how to consistently play him and the AI behavior doesn’t mess with him at all anymore. I’d say he’s a top option if you want to take some time to learn him
Vox is a top tier cosmic. I have an unduped 7R3 and he has been destroying T1 war, including this last DSVG vs 4Loki war. You should really look into him some more!
Love the list. However, Kushala not on the mystic top 3 is crazy. I get that she isn't a defender, but she is the Maestro destroyer :). She is #1 in my opinion. Love these random vids like this! I would go prowler. I love my rank 3 prowler.
For me personally I would replace Sassy. He does have the large health but I don’t find him very hard to beat on defense and rarely ever use him on offense. I also don’t give as much wait to BGs. I’m including AW and such and kushala is just such a valuable champ against serpent and maestro. That is for my personal list though. For Lags this list is great. My only other changes would be Shang chi up a level and that’s it. List is sweet and super helpful.

Dude, you gotta give Luke a chance. He is insane. I have mine at rank 3 and regardless of meta he’s a free 35-50 seconds on kindred and 50-60 on Sasquatch. He also crushes every mystic defender in the game (aside from man thing who I just haven’t had a chance to test yet). Also smokes FAM, hulkling, KILLMONGER, Bishop, Serpent (50% of the time) and even Bullseye in the right meta. He is so sick. Give him a shot.

I like these type of vids. I play BG's, but I'm not huge into it. So I would not rank quite a few of these since they are heavy defenders at the top. However, I like the explanation of how you look at it which helps me think about my own roster. I have a good amount of rank up materials currently, but I'm waiting on key champs (warlock, hype dupe, werewolf) that I want since there isn't really anything I "need" to rank. Science class is crazy too, so many good ones in there!
What exact spot would you place the new count nefaria in since I just got him and was really confused between upgrading him or focus on my other (work in progress 7*) red skull and warlock
I have a rank 3 dupped Juggs and he is the best character in the game. He takes any fight down in seconds. Have yet to lose one BG match with him against any defender.
Photon should be r3. I have her too and she does very well both on offense and defense. I have BRB at r2 and I think he's r3 worthy if you want a good offense champ. He's easily one of the best if not the best on offense. Covers all types of fights, long, medium, short, you name it. Sp3 helps with increasing dmg and beating opponents that don't easily get beaten by shock.
Love this. And love ranking who we love. But part of that IS they do things well of course. My two skill r3 are Mole Man and Shang Chi. Shang is beyond versatile so many matchups. Mole is a 2 way and just superb. We all need to let the nerf go. Three cosmics that are underrated IMO: Sersi, Terrax, and my queen Gamora. She’s a goddess on offense. The breath of her matchups is, well, breathtaking. Haven’t awakened my Sersi yet though……. So biggest differences are skill and cosmic. Gamora is extremely just wow overlooked. Terrax and Sersi are excellent two ways. And no Mole likely only because in the one rare crystal! So totally ok with that. And to be fair you put not VTD because so many solid cosmics. So yeah not much disagreement after all….. Love discussions like this. When we take our ego out, so much fun. Of course I’m going to value Lags AND you guys in comments. Prowler! Do it! I have him at r3 and he’s amazing . His power drain/lock, passive damage, and immunity to falter (and other immunities) are so extremely useful . Makes node 47 a joke in AW. Great counter for Korg, Chavez, destroyer , sassy, bullseye, and many more
Just got valiant after finishing crucible, pig is an absolute god. I was using him in incursions and the first hit of an sp2 did 423,000 damage whilst 5 stings were doing 300k. I love my R3 peni, shes extremely underated, but there was a bit of salt in my mouth when I held a tech gem for months waiting for guardian and then got a free one not even a week after I ranked her.
Chavez!!!! I was struggling with who to use my gem on. It went to Warlock. I was cross between Hulk, Gardian and Warlock. Went with Warlock! Good luck on your desision. I say Chavez, she just handles so much. I dont know how many times in BG some one tries to get me with a science defender, and I use Chavez. A mystic who murders everybody! Even buff immune. Thats priceless!
The problem with titania is her sp3 is mostly broke for months. The defender be throwing sp3's after you heavy sp3 them. The only good thing is you indestructible, but you lose her huge damage.the debuffs dont work.
Ik one thing that you say is that you're big into bgs and that's the gamemode you wanna do your rank ups for...and if we're looking at that then there's one option imo that stands head and shoulders above the rest for the 2-3 gem and that is PHOTON

I just recently got back into the game after like a three year pause, I had left off halfway through act 4 with a few max 3 stars and some higher level 4 stars. Since I’ve come back my luck has spiralled out of control and I’m finished act 4 with a 7 star spider ham, about 8 or 9 six stars, and countless 5 stars, just wondering what I should focus my resources on?
see personally i would love to do og spidey to rank 3 being the owner of a 5* accended and 7* r1 soon to be rank 2, he works everywhere and makes baiting specials light work, plus the damage after small ramp and stun lock rotation goes crazy
R3 Enchantress!!! I’m holding mine for her. Otherwise Photon (big diff on off at R3), Kushala or Juggs. All are auto drafts for me. NTW is awesome at R3 (passive parry and debuffs are so underrated). Prowler is a sneaky R3. Dust is putting in a lot of work at R3. Wolfy is my most used R3. Great list overall. I have 18 R3s with most of the top ones shown ranked.
Attacker - Silk her evade ability n game control unmatchable Kushala - she literally melts anyone but rank 3 can be over kill Defence - Photon Kindred Dual - Dust unrated can be very useful
At this point where you have so many rank 3s, obviously I know this would be an unpopular choice when there are so many more viable options, I would take stark spidey to r3 just for fun and hope for a dupe. I just love him so much, still the most fun champ in game for me, with decent utility, but of course I realize he really wants that dupe.
Took my Cmm to rank 2 yesterday she is duped. Def going to rank 3 her. Ran her through ROL with fury and beta ray synergy. Fights were 21 seconds to 1 min and 3 seconds. The 1 min fight was ws for ramp up and Hugh’s because of unstoppable. The 21 second fight was wolvie. Started in binary. 28 hits 21 seconds.
I agree with a lot of this. However, I think Chee’ilth, photon, shocker, Beta Ray Bill, juggs and bishop should be higher. Would demote attuma prowler hulk venom werewolf and NTW to make the room for the suggestions. I have BRB at r3 and he is absolutely insanely good. Got very lucky and awakened my BRB too, more than happy to share gameplay on him!
I just did my Cheelith and no regrets, she’s literally an animal on defense and on offense is very decent just her specials are long, the best: nobody bans her

Adam Warlock is top cosmic option. If you can play him, he deletes like noone else. Fastest BG time i have seen. Even r3 korgs are not a problem tbh

Thanks for the list took chavez to rank 3 with the crucible gem and got onslaught from the titan and took him to rank 2 with the rank 2 gem.

Ik one thing that you say is that you're big into bgs and that's the gamemode you wanna do your rank ups for...and if we're looking at that then there's one option imo that stands head and shoulders above the rest for the 2-3 gem and that is PHOTON
Rank 3 Odin is absolutely amazing. He is literally great everywhere except for defence. But then again several Champs isnt.

I ranked 3 Stryfe and Emma Frost to become Valiant as my Mutant roster sucked earlier this year and it still does. Don't regret rank 3 Emma Frost.

I just recently got back into the game after like a three year pause, I had left off halfway through act 4 with a few max 3 stars and some higher level 4 stars. Since I’ve come back my luck has spiralled out of control and I’m finished act 4 with a 7 star spider ham, about 8 or 9 six stars, and countless 5 stars, just wondering what I should focus my resources on?
I would say mostly 6*, unless you pull usefull/godtier 5*
id definitly focus on that 7* spam. At r1 he's comparable to 6r4s, and has more power rate.
Knull is slept on as an attacker.

see personally i would love to do og spidey to rank 3 being the owner of a 5* accended and 7* r1 soon to be rank 2, he works everywhere and makes baiting specials light work, plus the damage after small ramp and stun lock rotation goes crazy

R3 Enchantress!!! I’m holding mine for her. Otherwise Photon (big diff on off at R3), Kushala or Juggs. All are auto drafts for me. NTW is awesome at R3 (passive parry and debuffs are so underrated). Prowler is a sneaky R3. Dust is putting in a lot of work at R3. Wolfy is my most used R3. Great list overall. I have 18 R3s with most of the top ones shown ranked.

At this point where you have so many rank 3s, obviously I know this would be an unpopular choice when there are so many more viable options, I would take stark spidey to r3 just for fun and hope for a dupe. I just love him so much, still the most fun champ in game for me, with decent utility, but of course I realize he really wants that dupe.

Took my Cmm to rank 2 yesterday she is duped. Def going to rank 3 her. Ran her through ROL with fury and beta ray synergy. Fights were 21 seconds to 1 min and 3 seconds. The 1 min fight was ws for ramp up and Hugh’s because of unstoppable. The 21 second fight was wolvie. Started in binary. 28 hits 21 seconds.
I agree with a lot of this. However, I think Chee’ilth, photon, shocker, Beta Ray Bill, juggs and bishop should be higher. Would demote attuma prowler hulk venom werewolf and NTW to make the room for the suggestions.
I have BRB at r3 and he is absolutely insanely good. Got very lucky and awakened my BRB too, more than happy to share gameplay on him!

I just did my Cheelith and no regrets, she’s literally an animal on defense and on offense is very decent just her specials are long, the best: nobody bans her
