I won't deny there seemed to be shady stuff happening with the Diablo: Immortal videos they put up but what most people are lacking to mention is that youtube automatically will detect and remove likes/dislikes by bots, and judging by the reaction. I would wager that the vast majority of down votes that were removed were from excessive botting. If there was actually anything shady going on, we would've saw something like fake upvotes coming into help combat the overwhelming negative response to try to marginalize it, also the main comment that people talk about is the guy that keeps reposting how his comment was deleted X times. but when the comments are searched, it just seems like they knocked his upvoted comment down off the top and they are in fact, all still there.
"I would wager that the vast majority of down votes that were removed were from excessive botting" That's nonsensical. The video was reuploaded, the older one is now unlisted but still viewable. So nope, no bots. Genuine downvotes. And it's too sad people are even trying to defend Blizzard here. Their damage control is backfiring. 'You guys don't have smartphones?!" is truly showing how disconnected they are with how fans aren't excited for a Diablo mobile game, that many argue is basically a reskin of a pay to win game. You speak of fake upvotes, but in reality they turn the original video to unlisted and uploaded a new one!! There's only one who can do that and that's Blizzard themselves.
@@PHeMoX except the site people use to track these things bases its numbers on the URL. if you repost the video, it gets a new URL. Bots are used on way less controversial videos, what makes you think one with tons of controversy would have the same or less botting?
@@vibecorrector People comment constantly on EA as Blizzard, that their dislike is being deleted, so they have to go back and re-dislike. Same thing happening on 2 massive companies, both with a product people universally hate. Yes, they definitely can and are deleting dislikes. They mass deleted 190,000 dislikes, then boom, no mass deletion because their being watched by everyone at the moment.
@Ghettobible I saw the comments, I wondered if they undeleted comments to take away the validity of the posters. "See they're lying trolls, they were never deleted, believe us, we don't lie, trust us, give us all your micro-transactions". It works too, cause I thought RedpillShark and others were trolling, cause they have multiple posts saying their previous post is deleted. Then I heard other youtubers talking about him. So I thought, hmm, undeleted to invalidate?
Regardless of this game, just wanna say you put out great, informative content. I really enjoyed this video. It speaks to a lot to what people are thinking who love this game. No matter what you cover, I’d be happy to support ya. You speak about other games all the time and no matter what game it is, you provide strong informative content that is interesting to watch. Keep paddling, even when it’s upstream.
@@straitjacket1930 I hope he recovers from this even if it means moving away from Blizzard games. This guy has integrity, i will still watch his videos.
A white knight.. wtf. Well of course he's going to be disappointed I think everyone was. He said in the video he didn't want to be disrespectful and they gave him a nodd to be open about it... He didn't call for the community to downvote all blizzard videos and pick up pitch forks like some kids on Reddit are doing. What would he benefit from by saying the fanbase is wrong? Blizzard doesn't pay his bills his fans do
The greatest travesty of this entire weekend was making Rhykker sad, holy shit. Sad Rhykker crushes my soul. I'll watch your vids man, even if you have to shift over to a new game. You'll make due, hang in there.
w e will support you man! Getting thrown under the bus is horrible and they certainly did that to you bro. I have felt like this when ccp did some shady stuff for Eve... Understandable and be encouraged!!! Folk are angry for good reason and some were a bit blind angry and used you as a lightning rod. KEEP THE Faith !!!
You know, I tried it after I saw so many people saying this nearly verbatim, and I didn't like it. Don't like the angle, don't like the classes or characters, don't like how abilities are tied to gems slotted into items, didn't like the story presented or the quest flow. Not sure how many more hours I need to play Diablo FF7 Edition to get into it but bad first impression.
@@favoritetoad7237 I agree with him, it's tedious and obnoxious... not complicated, just relies too heavily on RNG, if you need upgraded items but can't slot your skills, you're forced to play under geared and be miserable doing it... only a handful of very specific builds can do 100% of the game as well which is also frustrating. I have a necromancer that can do about 95% of the end game content but those final 4 bosses I can't even scratch... so basically 100+ hours of game play down the drain because my class / build can't beat the end game... it's insanely annoying honestly. Diablo 2 is still the greatest ARPG of all time... hands down... it's simple and works... they just need to update it with quality of life changes and it'll still reign supreme.
After watching his content for a while now, I decided to allocate my twitch prime sub to Rhykker just before blizcon. Having finished this video and hearing all of his talking points, I've never been more proud to support a content creator like him. He's the kind of guy I wish more streamers would aspire to emulate, and a strong, sound presence in the community. Take some time and do you, good sir. I've got your back no matter how this plays out.
Aeriyah I couldn’t agree more! I will be doing the same. I only wish I was in a situation where I could give more! Keep your chin up Rhykker! At this point I will watch basically what ever you put out so if you have to switch games, I am sure I will still enjoy!
Your integrity and thoroughness is why we watch your videos. As long as you don’t give up on that, then we’ll continue to watch your videos and support you, even if you start covering other games.

29:00 Rhyker isn't joking about this, a little story about me, I have been following Rhykers content for years. I use to go by the user name Phanatos, and one day I finally decide to watch his twitch. TONS of viewers, can't remember how much but easily over two hundred, with tons of different names talking each second. This is a fond memory of mine as well, for it showed me how down to earth Rhyker is. So picture this, the chat is getting on average 5 messages per second, and still some how out of all that clutter, he was able to find my comments, and always answer the questions, and he was not just answering my questions, he was laughing at the jokes I would send to him. It got to the point where I was becoming a regular visitor and I SWEAR TO GOD he memorized my user name and would always say. "Hey Phanatos" as if greeting a buddy, I firmly believed during that time he memorized my user name at that point, just like the same way a teacher carefully memorizes each student, and it was mind blowing. It wasn't just me he established that bond with but many other viewers. He recognizes your comments, he remembers your style of humor and speech, he genuinely cares about his fans. Rhyker is a great guy and I wish him all the best. I may of never seen him or met him person but I can say honestly, just through the hard work he puts into his content and his fans. Rhyker at the bare minimum is a hard working man. And that alone is respect worthy.
Why create a new game for mobile centered after the first two games before the third to mobile only players that haven't had access to the first games? It's utter bullshit. I've never wanted to start a game series smack dab in the middle..
Same here. I randomly watched and said "hello," he replied with "hello kaboomgaminghawaii, how are you?" It made my day. Great dude, and I love the content he creates
Man, I’m a HUGE fan of yours and Lord Fluffy’s and you guys both came back from BlizzCon looking shell shocked. You’re my favourite channels to watch, even if you’re not playing Diablo. Take the time away, play something different, DO something different, just get your head back where you need it to be. All of us appreciate you and your videos, we’ll all be here for every upload.
Don't worry Rhykker. Even during your stream, I was never mad at you, or upset or anything, nothing but respect for your composure and delivery as such.. Kudos man.
Who is this mans? He was so distraught he forgot his own name! My favourite part about the red shirt guy's question is that its not a troll! in 2014 they literally did an April fools post about a diablo mobile game ripping on the state of mobile games!
Focus on other franchises, as well. We don't only watch you for Diablo content. Put a few hundred hours into Grim Dawn and some other great action RPGs. Have you ever considered putting up some nicely edited playthroughs of some great RPGs?
Agreed. Grim Dawn has it's flaws but its a solid competitor to diablo until the idiots at blizz can get their heads out of their ass in regards for the fanbase who funds them.
Well, there is always Fortnite if everything else fails. No, but srsly, even if he were to play PoE for a while until more news about Diablo are revealed I´ll still watch him. Yeah, I believe Diablo 4 AND a remaster will soon be announced to try to do some damage control on this mess.
@@sooza6198 I agree, for me it also is the best current ARPG - atleast on PC (and yeah PoE considered as well) and if Rhykker would make Content for that until Diablo 4, 2 Remastered or whatever happens, i would be pretty happy. "They claim they are immortal, we must prove they are not." If it wasn't for Betrayal being introduced before Immortal it would look like a deliberate taunt.
I agree but there is also a vocal minority of extremely toxic people within our community and they seem to be getting rewarded. It's okay to respectfully dislike the announcement but some of these people are just toxic AF, personally attacking the devs and wanting the company to tank, they just want to see the whole thing burn.
Imagine a group of heavy metal like Iron maiden went on stage and in front of 50k of harcore metal fans, said: hey folks... our producer have said that most ppl that listen to music don't listen to metal so in order to attract more listeners.... our new album is going to be just Latino pop songs and we are going to call it "love love baby baby"..... most of the fans would have raided the stage and set it in flames.... no media will have called anyone entitle crybaby....
yea yea we get it "imagine being the laughing stock of the gaming industry" it must feel bad we all know this. But imagine paying 1000$ to fly to USA from Europe, some 500$ more on a hotel, food and whatnot... hell some more money on merchandise etc. to see a big Diablo announcement and be met with flappy bird. The takeaway isn't "poor old Wyat Chang got booed" it's "How the hell did they think this was a good idea, and what's more - how the hell did they think it was SUCH A GOOD IDEA that they themselves would get so excited about announcing it?". That's the fact of the matter.

Yeah, the exclusion of the witch doctor is kind of a red flag -- which is why so many people (myself included) think this is more a NetEase game or at the very least, heavily pandering to the Chinese market and their exclusion of darker skinned characters. Before you say Tyrael was there -- he was but in his angelic form. I was more stunned at how much the trailer focused on the Barbarian and Wizard -- is Barb still that popular?
Dude, i'll watch your content anyway. I'm not even watching your diablo videos, I actually just care about your overall content because you're really well spoken and informative.
Wally except they haven’t said ANYTHING about what the micros-transactions could be. Is there really any reason to complain if it ends up being purely cosmetic?
Don't forget the blizzcon where someone asked about classic wow servers and from the panel that guy dismissed him with "you think you want it but you don't!" Smash cut to today, Wow classic is a real project and that guy from the panel that belittled the fan is "president" of blizzard.
For me, the worst part of this is Blizzard being disingenuous. I’m pretty certain we all know how mobile games are monetized. For them to say they don’t know what the payment mechanisms will be is a flat out lie. Sure, the devs may not know the specifics, but advancement and/or aesthetics gated behind microtransactions is the entire point behind this games’s development. We’re not naive, we’re the actual player base. To pitch this project to us, to spin it as if it were created FOR US, is the slap in the face we’re all reeling from. This is poisoning the relationship between Blizzard and their fans because this is not, and never was, created for entertainment. This was created as a long term revenue stream, an intentionally watered down, general audience version designed for mass appeal, and thus mass monitization.
They now know how many Diablo fans they have pissed off by announcing this mobile game, so, hopefully this makes them change the way the monetizing will work. I mean can u imagine the backlash for a pay to win scheme for a game that no one wanted, suggested or asked for?... This game could prove to be extremely damaging for Blizzard going forward.
@@gazb0075 it could also could be a big success for them with a whole new market of players, it's sad to say honestly but mobile gaming is huge in China/Japan and other Asian countries. or new players who have no familiarity with what Diablo is and having their phones about them with mobile games (I suspect they are pushing this more towards high school or Jr high kids just looking for something to entertain them during their lunch break or some shit.) I'm not wild about the choice just like most of you, I thought the cinematic was flashy and it looked like there were some fun abilities but it's still a cold cruel slap in the face...
@@Things_I_wish_I_knew But surely they wouldn't make this game just to satisfy Asia? I can't get my head around it. Unless Asia players are renowned for pumping out endless cash in micro-transactions? To me it's a huge kick in the teeth by saying FU to Europe, America etc. I could understand it more if they announced this mobile game along with a PC version or D4 game. This has now made me see how disconnected Blizzard are from the community... I knew it was bad, but not this bad.
@@Things_I_wish_I_knew That kind of speaks to the point, regardless of validity or its potential. It was a business move, not a move made with the community in mind. To then try to spin it as, we did this for all of you here today that are predominantly PC players is pretty lousy. To then further the blow, THERE'S NO POTENTIAL for any of it to come to PC or anything? How daft.

I've decided that for myself I'm not going to agonize over this. It really is simple. The company has decided to go in a direction that I am not interested in. There are so many well-deserving game developers out there, who are using their creativity to inject new ideas into various gaming genres. Many of them are developing new ARPGs. I will give them my attention and money. It may simply be that we've come to the end of an era. It's been fun, but it's not the end of the world. There are many exciting developments out there. I intend to fully experience them.
This is so true! We need to accept that the "good old days" are over, and they aren't coming back. The good news is that there will be new companies we can support to fill the void Blizzard is creating by becoming a mobile game developer.
Pretty much, and I'd say the same for Bethesda screwing over their fans, but accepting that you'll never buy a companies crap games doesn't make it suck any less.
He did make a lot of sense when he said that Blizzard could have delivered the news in a totally different way and stuff, but hell, Diablo was and should always be a PC game first then port later. Tbh, I will def give Diablo Immortal a try, but I'm sure it just won't be the same.

See, that's the attitude to have. Wait and see. Too much knee-jerk reaction. Some of them may not listen attentively but, after watching the video, it's clear some of them do. As they stated, they ARE continuing to work on their core games and, D3 stuff is still coming our way. Mobile is just one facet. The coming year will demonstrate what we should then do. I won't die before then. but, if I do I'll at least have a mobile game to while the time away as I descend.
This whole situation was basically presented by saying "here's what you get, you better like it". It Definatly should have been something that was announced as a nice addition to the diablo game collection, but the emphasis should if been on telling fans that they're working on bigger and better things and that they will always cater to the PC audiance. That's their core family. It's okay to make a mobile game on the side, but not okay to sacrifice their core demographic to do it.
CrashBOREDOM very true. Look at what BGS did with TES: Blades. And look at how that went down. Now look at what Blizzard did with Diablo Immortal. Need I say more?
yes and we were told that we would not get anything big YET so the reason why this is the end of the world wuhhh scary... is because you people went into this with the expactation of something big while they told us not to expect things. Yes that makes sense evil blizzard how dare they not think of the fact than this fanbase is just as stupid as any other fanbase.
Talboot Lü and yet, people still payed a great deal of good money for... THIS. Don’t you DARE blame the consumers for this fiasco. Part of the problem is Blizzard over hyped it. They tried to manage our expectations, but they were still building up hype since August. You don’t build up hype for that long, announce this, and ONLY this (for this IP at least) and expect everything to be just fine. Don’t you DARE blame the consumers for this you f**-
You don't tell your current girlfriend you're expanding your potential girlfriend search. And that's what blizzard did. They told their current audience that they're focusing on a new audience. And that's what is so disgusting about the announcement. This would have been fine at a mobile convention. Not the hardcore PC convention. You looked them in the eye and said we need more than just you.
You don't create a game taking place in the middle of a series for people who have never played the series, good try blizzard.. pull more shit out of your ass.

To me this is like how some Star Wars fans only like the first 3 movies. The TV special was insulting to those fans people hated jar jar. Jar jar was supposed to be the main protagonist of that series but since the fanboys hated him they rewrote the 2 following films and made a mediocre series. And people hate the cartoons And the loudest fans are usually angry fans. While I do like Diablo I don't like World of Warcraft or StarCraft. Honestly if your right and the devs were excited for immortals and had no idea they would get this response.... that's even worse. Like how could a dev team that out touch with their gamers make a game we'd like? Blizzards done so far as I'm concerned. And so what if the phone game will be okay... who cares? Anyway man I appreciate your professionalism.
because they have been working on this for a long time. They have had time to adjust to the idea and the way it works. I guarantee that they were not as excited about the project when they were told what they would be working on as they are this far into its development.
When you work on a project the more you pit into it the more you become attached to it. This also makes it easier to be blindsided because you can get so attached that you cant see the the bad anymore.
When you work on a mobile game you're looking at how you can suck money out of your consumers. Looking for ways to prey on their addiction. You don't put love, pride, joy, etc into the game. Plus they aren't even designing it. A Chinese company is. What kind of role do you think Wyatt had on it? Lol. The OP's comment is absolutely spot on

Wow over an hour long. @rhykker thank you so much to take the time for this post I am can’t wait to finish this video. Please keep up all the hard work you are doing. Thanks man
Rhykker, i honestly feel that this was a massive PR blunder. They announced a mobile game to the hardcore PC audience. Do I blame them for making a mobile game? Nah, mobile is a massive money maker right now. Why WOULDNT they? What should've gone down is instead of solely a mobile announcement, give the fans a teaser. No date needed, just let us know something is coming. Then say "But in the mean time, check out this treat we have for you." The main problem is that Diablo fans are running out of hope. We have no hope left, we feel like the neglected step child of blizzard universes. The anger, i believe, comes from a place of a fan that has finally lost hope on their favorite franchise. We have memories of playing with friends on D2 or the first time we ran into the butcher in D1, we have had to watch as Warcraft players get their memories brought back in a tangible format. Yet, we are left wanting. We are starving for Diablo content. The announcement wasn't as much a "slap in the face" as it was that they took the last of our hope. Godspeed Rhykker. It'll be okay
This is really sell said, I believe the outrage indeed stems not only from the loss of hope for having something come from Diablo but the way they hyped up the announcement without having any real substance. As you have said, I would have appreciated if they just put a little tease out there let us know SOMETHING about Diablo 4 or something for PC gamers to cling to. But here's the thing everyone, that day will come, they ARE working on Diablo 4, it isn't a question of if, but when. There are a ton of games out there currently, great ones. Take a look at some and in time Diablo 4 will come.
Well blizzard is done at least for the hardcore fans. Watched a panel today where they were saying they took there best devs to work on multiple mobile games, and the dev teams play a lot of mobile games. They are all in on this no amount of backlash will change there mind its full steam ahead. They are throwing us away for quick buck. They damage there reputation and that's all devs have. I will no longer just buy any game they make because blizzard made it. Diablo 4 if it ever comes will be a hard sell to a lot of Diablo fans. If it returns to D2 roots I may and I mean I may buy it.
Rhykker, you said it. 12:00 - by talking to Wyatt, you could tell that he was genuinely excited by diablo immortal and thrown off by the backlash. This is the problem, that the management is so out of touch with the community and the players, that they're surprised when they disappoint. They didn't even realize before that it would be a fiasco. Pitty.
right, they should just have read the forums in the last year. many people were joking about a mobile game but no one, i mean literally NO ONE wanted to have a mobile game as the next diablo game....
that and also the goal is to earn money ... and mixed of those make them completely disconnect of the reality . all that said asi write before im not into hatred . life move on game change i played diablo 2 i played diablo 3 and i thank blizzard for that now its finish
I’m an old Diablo player, both since I started with OG Diablo and since I’m turning 49 December 7th. I find myself disappointed and resigned with the announcement of Diablo Immortal. First and foremost, I will NEVER pay money for a game that I don’t have a physical representation of; be it a CD, DVD, Game Code, or card I can hold onto. So, unless Diablo Immortal is free to play with pay to get added material, I most likely won’t ever play it.
I met him three next day (he decided to wear the same Diablo shirt, lol). He said he actually read the April Fools comment on Reddit as he approached the mic. Nice dude. He spoke for all of us at that moment.
Rykker you sir are a gentleman and i salute you. I appreciate your time and effort releasing content every week. I especially like your lore videos and the hilarious side comments. I have diablo on my pc but recently been playing on the switch. Really appreciative of your class guides. I support you sir and i know you were upset about the mobile announcement but you stayed professional about it. And that just made me respect you more as a person. Thank you. Btw this is the first i have ever watched an hour video on youtube.
I agree. Even if we disagree without Blizzard's direction, we need to stay polite if we want to communicate our displeasure. Noone want to listen to "feedback" that contains mostly verbal attacks and absolute statements like "Blizzard doesn't care about PC gaming". As a developer myself I can confirm that. Rhykker being polite allows us to have someone that Blizzard actually listens to. If the turned rabid like the pseudo-fans around here, we'd lose a channel to give Blizzard our actual feedback.
I don't watch Rhykker's video too often except some lore videoes. And neither do I ever watch an hour long video on youtube. It's my first time finishing video that is longer than 30 mins. He did good job explaining his standing / view on this subject matter. No matter what content he goes to, he will make it good and there will be fans to follow. You will do great Rhykker.
Or........maybe he is afraid for what will happen now he has bought a new place to live , and kind of is in the pockets of RUclips , blizzy , can he be objective?
@@kjeldlarsen912 He's a RUclips and Twitch streamer who focuses on Blizzard and ARPG news. He's not objective, and isn't really trying to be. He's not a trained journalist, he's a gamer who shares news and his thoughts on it. He was pretty upfront about his financial stake in all of this.
Just continue being the professional person you are, your followers are with you not cos of Diablo but for the honest, unique, fun style input you put into every video. We'll follow you where ever :)
Man I was right there with you. I was built up to get a remastered D2 and I was honestly more excited for that then D4 imagen PvP and popping bodies again and the stab I took right in the heart was intense and to add insult to injury it was a mobile game.. but I understand you cant bite the hand that feeds you. You got Bill's to pay this feeds you. Adult life is hard slave life is hard. Thank you for being honest and your transparency.
1:08:00 I followed you pretty well up to this point. Why the contradictory all of a sudden? Now it's the people's fault for being reluctant to change and adapt to a new platform? It's just hella uncomfortable for most people to be crammed above their tiny phone screens, trying to play a good old session of demon-slaying-Diablo. We build rigs, buy sweet chairs and desks for one reason: The most comfortable gaming environment. A phone has no environment. I can accept playing minigames such as tower defenses, card games or whatever on phones. I can read longer texts on phones (still sometimes getting a headache from it) but I cannot accept a "fully fledged" Diablo experience that is missing all of the typical IRL Quality of Life options for me. IF I have/am able to get a phone that can play Immortal at the time it releases (currently running around with an old iphone 5s) I will probably end up playing that game at home. Cable already up for loading and in some comfortable place to play this game. There is no way to make a fully fledged Diablo experience where you can just bust it out in the bus and have your gaming sessions. It's not possible. If there is anything close to the perfect mobile gaming enabler, it currently is the Nintendo Switch. A device solely build for the purpose of playing on it. A device with a screen big enough to not get a headache and a battery, that won't die within 2 or 3 months of high usage and reloading. tl;dr There are things meant for creating a gaming experience, phones will never be that for me even if they were equal in power to a PC.
If mobile is the future of gaming, then count me out for the future of gaming. I'll be fine playing all the games I already love, and I also have a huge backlog of PC games to play. So Blizzard can go and have themselves a big old mobilefest in Asia for all I care. Goodbye and good riddance.
I agree , but this game is not for US. He even says so in this video , but without stressing it. This game is for countries where phone gaming is the primary thing. Or much more popular than in the West. This game is NOT for people who are already playing their games on PC or console. At ALL.
Even Fallout Shelter had a PC port on steam. But yeah basically ANYthing announced alongside Immortal would've seriously bettered the whole situation. I still find it odd that they wouldn't say a single thing about the other projects. It took a huge shitstorm and damage control to hear that they're not done with D3. Why was that so hard?
Why real PC and console gamers don't like or respect mobile, regardless of how good the game might be: - Predatory, manipulative monitization schemes. - Microtransactions as far as the eye can see. - Pay walls. - Time gating. - Ads. - Rip offs and reskins of other games (IE: NetEase's "Endless of God" being a ripoff of Diablo) - Bastardizations of beloved franchises for quick cash grabs in the Chinese markets (IE: EA's new C&C mobile) - Poor translations. - Horrid Controls. (Especially for fast paced action games) - Watered-down graphics and gameplay. - Constantly being pushed by shill games "journalists". And given Activision and NetEase's track records, we should expect just about all of this in D:I. We will NEVER respect or love mobile gaming until these awful things go away. And seeing the trend, they are only going to get worse.
I'll never understand why people want to play games with touch screen instead of an actual well built controller. Mobile is only good for time wasters, due to it's poor controls and hardware it'll never live up to a PC or console experience.
Another guy that does not get it. People are not against mobile games, they are upset because they abandoned their player base to pursue the mobile platform. It would have been totally different if they would have introduced Diablo Immortal for the PC and Console, ohh and by the way we are creating a mobile version too! See how different that is? That is what the players deserved.
I think you are right about Wyatt, but that is part of the problem. I had the same opinion of him 3 years ago, he is a nice and well meaning guy who "likes" Diablo, and he is not a bad designer either, but he severly lacked an understanding of what makes Diablo Diablo and what makes the fans tick. For whatever reason, he is disconnected to what people like/dislike about Diablo and has been for quite some time.
"For whatever reason" = money. Whenever there's an apparent gap in reasoning, rationality with Blizzard these days, it's money. Push profits higher and higher each quarter, at all cost.
Your overall review is really great and insightful. I am, to be totally honest, not a die-hard Diablo fan (Haven't had the time to commit to any Diablo game), but I have been fascinated with everything that has happened because of Blizzcon. To hear from Adam in your interview, to see someone who is so passionate about Diablo to be so candid about all this, it's really good to see your content, Rhykker. Definitely take a break from all the chaos, and do what you need to do for you. I look forward to trying to get into Diablo because of you.
I’ve been waiting to for your reply the whole time. Thanks for being real with your fans. Real talk man. I’ll follow you where ever you game you play next. I will support you broski! Diablo is dead... but you will live on!
@Craig X this is his job. This is his way of living. He depends on youtube and diablo content to make it in this doggy dog world. I'm just stating i understand he is in a really bad spot and he shouldnt worry about THIS FAN (ME). Ill support Rhykker in any game he moves to.
I appreciate the time you've put in and the time you've allowed to pass before doing this video. It's excellent and full of good points of view. Thanks for all you do Rhykker.
I was impartial. I'm not a big fan of Mobile Games so I was like "Eh, just something for me to skip"... Then I heard the "What you guys don't have Smart phones?!" and I wanted to punch them... So yeah, I can understand why most of the fans are pissed.
Imagine working on something, it took you a lot of effort, passion and sacrifice. You have something to show to the people. When you announce that project you worked on, you get the reaction they got. I'm not saying Blizzard wasn't wrong, they chose the way of presenting the game poorly. A good reason as to why they said "you guys don't have smartphones?" was because they never planned on bringing Diablo Immortal on PC, why? Because there's already something big for PC on the Works, and this project was intended for mobiles only. Again, I think they chose poorly how to present it, and when the bomb exploded on their faces, they couldn't keep their cool and well... it happened what happened.
@@sleepyfenix656 *A good reason as to why they said "you guys don't have smartphones?" was because they never planned on bringing Diablo Immortal on PC, why?* That's where they went wrong. Let's look at Bethesda, when they were announcing Fallout 4 they also released Fallout Shelter. It started on mobile but soon made it's way to PC and now it's on console (I think I may be wrong here). Fallout Shelter was sold to the crowd not as a stand alone mobile app, cause at the start that's what it was, but as a place holder, something that the fans can poke at and keep them busy until the real meat and potatoes of Fallout 4 could come. It's the same thing here, they could have said "there aren't plans to have it on the PC, yet, but we're going to be hard at work on bringing it there and to consoles." Do you see how much better the reception for the game would have been if they had said that? Nope! They insulted their fans with that "What, you don't have Smartphones?!" comment. It doesn't matter that it was said in anger. It matters that it was said.
You have a lot more potential than what you think. Ive been using youtube more than a decade now and I havn’t commented once. This was very necessary. I came to your channel because of diablo, but I stayed for the other interesting videos you have. Diablo Lore videos were top notch. Loved the recap of darksiders “the story so far”. What I absolutely want to see more of you doing is less diablo (because content is so infrequent anyways) and more games in the genre. What I absolutely need to see is more indepth videos of what you think of path of exile. I like your opinion on games because you aren’t doing the basic review “6.7 out of 10”. What I enjoy from you is that you give us your opinion but have it open ended. You aren’t so harsh with “buy this game” or “don’t buy it” like angry joe and other overdramatic youtube personalities. Condo… and im sure kids coming…. time to expand. Be the ARPG guy rather than the “diablo guy trying to make videos over ever thinning content.” Also, diablo mobile is God saying “you have an opportunity here. Move on.” PS I wanna hear about wolcen, Warhammer ARPGs, torchlight 2 even. No mobile games please…. Even if it is diablo….
@Rhykker I know a lot of people have said it, but I still find you to be an amazing RUclipsr. Not only do I enjoy your material as entertainment, but I also respect your opinion as a gamer and a source of information. I hope you know that this community is stronger than the rage and disappointment that is happening right now. This is obviously a rough time, but I believe that everyone will ride this out. I truly hope things get better soon, I hope you take care of yourself, and know that we're here for ya as best we can be.
As a Diablo fan of 18 years (I played it first in 2000), and someone who actually bought that crazy $300 Chess set (which looks badass regardless), Diablo Immortal, an outsourced Chinese mobile game as the ONLY announcement hurts my heart. I love Diablo, but I also love Path of Exile and Grim Dawn. I am a fan of PC ARPGs and D:I isn't for me. P.S. I still have a Windows phone, rip me. Also hurts more that the game will be used to convey canon lore, but via a game I won't play on a platform I don't own ):
I think Mark Kern explained the problem very well, the "old" blizzard was full of core gamers, it's not the case anymore, they said it themselves. "we switched to mobile" and they enjoy it, so of course they want to make games for mobile... except that most gamers that play Blizzard games are STILL core gamers, and they don't care about mobile games... they really lost touch with the community, and the PR who decided it was a good idea to announce that game as a main event at Blizzcon should be replaced, and send to china ( he'll do great there... )
Qyatt's "Don't you have phones" The tone he said it was defensively. Not a lack of understanding things. But a human thing. When met with reistance, you go into a defensive position. That's where that came from. Not very professional. He was the scapegoat for sure.
Hey Rhykker. I've been a long-time Diablo fan ever since I grabbed D2 back in 2000. It really served as the impetus to converting me to a "PC gamer" and delving into the RPG franchises to this day. Healthy or not, the Diablo world helped me get through both good and bad periods of life because it was always some thing I could passionately fall back to and know would always be there. Even though it's community was probably the smallest of the Blizzard games, it felt like some of the most passionate fans Blizzard had. I echo many of your sentiments of let-down and shock here. But to you - you've introduced me to so many RPG games and really revitalized my love for Diablo and the genre since I discovered you shortly after D3. Thanks for always being very thorough with your research and analysis and honest and heartfelt with your opinions and communication with us. Much respect. Don't worry, you won't lose THIS fan.
Damn dude. I wish i could give you a hug, i feel like you just witnessed the murder of a loved one and the person who did it was someone close to you. Like they looked you dead in the eye and still did it knowing you're seeing it.
I think that's how many people are feeling right now, and for some it feels like a massive betrayal and that's gotta be where the hate is coming from. Blizzard wasn't just another company, not just another developer. They were special. The Diablo franchise was special to many, many people including myself. To see it fall in such a hard way... it's not the same as watching the spectacular nonsense with EA and Battlefront 2, where EA is known as a terrible company (I mean, voted twice by the BBB as the worst company in America, for starters) and this kind of behavior was already expected. It was far more personal, visceral, and real with Blizzard and Diablo, because while Diablo 3 is the weakest entry in the series, it was still a great game. But this...? This was something else...
omfg.... i really dont want to see you in this state, bro... man... i really sorry.... if you pick another good game to make content... i will see you for sure... you do a great job in your field, man
Your response was worth the wait. Hit the nail on the head with community conscerns. Also feeling better about the direction of Diablo thanks to you. Blizzard owes you and should be thankful you are part of the Diablo community. I would like to shake your hand sir.
much less people working in CRATE(grim daw) and they have already a second expansion.....blizzard have much more guys and D3 dont have anything for about 4 years...only necromancer! A very slow company that waits 1 year to announce little things or shit things like we see this year in blizzcon. Blizzard its a joke now! A very slow and burocratic company!
It's called arrogance and greed. Those guys at CRATE are influenced by passion, desire to make good game, desire to please players, etc. Blizz+Fucktivision or Fucktivision in general: MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY. Paper currency that ruined EA, Fucktivision and now their so called Blizz merged with it.
Rhykker, we watch you and follow you because it's you that creates quality content. You can focus on other games too. Your audience probably has similar tastes anyway!
This may be the best video I have seen on youtube ever. Descriptive, and very honest. This is the reason you are so well liked in the community. Thankyou
At 56:26 in the video - this could have been communicated at the announcement. You're right, they were tone-deaf. So much rage, confusion and feelings of abandonment could easily have been avoided. There's been sooo much vitriole, my own included. I'm calmer now. Even played D3 yesterday, albeit briefly. Thanks for the video Rhykker. Respect for days. :)
Should have pulled a Bethesda. Announce D4 is on its way sometime in the future and show a logo teaser. Announce D2 remake if there is one. Launch Diablo Immortal live for free on mobile and PC.
I said this exact thing to my friend. They could have showed a snippet of D4 right at the end. A short clip and a general release date. Blizzard would have bought a year or two of peace and quiet.
A good plan except in one scenario: Blizzard don't want to make D4. If Blizzard show a D4 trailer, they have to make it. And they'd have to start development right away. If Blizzard aren't developing D4 and they mention it at Blizzcon, how worse do you think the reaction would be next year? Take Classic, the blizzcon with "you don't want that" (A good example of how out of touch they are). They really didn't want to make classic, so they made no promises. Granted it's being made now, but only because of the PR nightmare closing Nostalrius caused.
That was my exact thought on how Blizzard could have handled this. The worst reaction you would have gotten from the core Diablo fanbase would have been "Eh, mobile is not for me, will wait for the D2 remake."
Wait people actually think what Bethesda did was a good thing? That non-reveal reveal of the next ES pissed me off to no end. It was the same as showing nothing.
No, my virtual friend people want you to be real, you re the man that makes the best content for diablo and this game particulary for you was a kick in the middle of the balls. I can told you this, you will be fine, you re a clever player and a good man, believe me, you ll have more watchers for saying the truth and dont do any damage control. Make content for poe, wolcen, last epoch, the new torchlight people will support you ever dont worry, this was a terrible nighmare and all will be fine.
"I would wager that the vast majority of down votes that were removed were from excessive botting"
That's nonsensical.
They deleting dislikes, same as EA Battlefield V.
Respect to Rhykker for openly expressing his disappointment and not being a corporate white knight who attacks the fanbase.
For sure. I am with you.
Bro seriously sad Rhykker is some bullshit.
w e will support you man!
Blizzcon was the best promotion Path of Exile could have hoped for.
@@ocha-time Little too complicated for you there buddy?
Grim Dawn > PoE
Torchlight 2 is still a great alternative tbh
You are my best youtuber I will always watch your content and support you don't worry we have your back 🤗

After watching his content for a while now, I decided to allocate my twitch prime sub to Rhykker just before blizcon. Having finished this video and hearing all of his talking points, I've never been more proud to support a content creator like him. Rhyker isn't joking about this, a little story about me, I have been following Rhykers content for years.
Such a nice story and you still can't spell his name correctly. Damn.
He's the second twitch streamer I subscribed to. The first was Moldran lol.
That's his job.
Same here. I randomly watched and said "hello," he replied with "hello kaboomgaminghawaii, how are you?" It made my day. Great dude, and I love the content he creates

I second that

This whole video is the definition of disappointed father moment.
I will say thank you for being so calm when others have been so very emotional.

I intend to fully experience them.
its been an end of an era for a while now. blizzard didn't just merge with activision, its been years now.
This is so true! We need to accept that the "good old days" are over, and they aren't coming back.
The good news is that there will be new companies we can support to fill the void Blizzard is creating by becoming a mobile game developer.
Have you checked out GGG's ARPG Path of Exile? :D

Nothing will be changed. DI will be well received among players, and it will earn Blizzard new fanbase.

You looked them in the eye and said we need more than just you.
Weird analogy, but yeah, the presentation of the announcement probably was the worst thing about all of thid

Then say "But in the mean time, check out this treat we have for you."
The main problem is that Diablo fans are running out of hope.
Artanis AllDay rhykker has less ballsac than a fly
Pitty.
exactly

I’m an old Diablo player, both since I started with OG Diablo and since I’m turning 49 December 7th.
I find myself disappointed and resigned with the announcement of Diablo Immortal. First and foremost, I will NEVER pay money for a game that I don’t have a physical representation of; be it a CD, DVD, Game Code, or card I can hold onto.
So, unless Diablo Immortal is free to play with pay to get added material, I most likely won’t ever play it.

Why was that so hard?
all we know is there are multiple teams for Diablo... probably cleaning old files and playing old games...
Why real PC and console gamers don't like or respect mobile, regardless of how good the game might be:
- Predatory, manipulative monitization schemes.
- Microtransactions as far as the eye can see.
- Pay walls.
- Time gating.
- Ads.
- Rip offs and reskins of other games (IE: NetEase's "Endless of God" being a ripoff of Diablo)
- Bastardizations of beloved franchises for quick cash grabs in the Chinese markets (IE: EA's new C&C mobile)
- Poor translations.
- Horrid Controls. (Especially for fast paced action games)
- Watered-down graphics and gameplay.
Mobile is only good for time wasters, due to it's poor controls and hardware it'll never live up to a PC or console experience.
preach it brother
Well said, dude.
Excellent summary. Good points I haven't thought of before.
He isn't called Wyatt "Cha-Cheng" for nothing.
EA: Battlefield is our game and we will make it how we want. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Blizzard: Hold my beer..
I just want to give Rhykker a big hug. We love you and always will. *hugs* Chin up. We will get through this together.
Rhykker look heart broken.... xd
Thumbs up...but thumbs down...:(

Indeed... Talk about them being rude... I was just floored that this was their reaction.
@@sleepyfenix656 *A good reason as to why they said "you guys don't have smartphones?" was because they never planned on bringing Diablo Immortal on PC, why?*
That's where they went wrong.
Yeah, i also think he should expand his content. People would enjoy it even if it was out of the ARPG genre.
@@Boss-lp9ce that's a good point too. Really what i want to see is a credible opinion, not a rating and from someone who isn't a douche.
"Whos gonna watch youtube on their small screen?"

Also hurts more that the game will be used to convey canon lore, but via a game I won't play on a platform I don't own ):
grim dawn beats diablo 3 on every level. but not diablo 1 :)
I think we've all seen our loved one being murdered on that stage.
*"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."*
Yeah, bro, watched that awkward stream of you playing Immortal and honestly it was so easy to read between the lines. Your good bro.
omfg.... i really dont want to see you in this state, bro...
man... i really sorry....
if you pick another good game to make content... i will see you for sure...
you do a great job in your field, man
100% agree.
Sad times for Diablo Fans
Poor Rhykker :(
Your response was worth the wait. Hit the nail on the head with community conscerns. Also feeling better about the direction of Diablo thanks to you. Blizzard owes you and should be thankful you are part of the Diablo community. I would like to shake your hand sir.
I 2nd everything said
much less people working in CRATE(grim daw) and they have already a second expansion.....blizzard have much more guys and D3 dont have anything for about 4 years...only necromancer!
Ironic that the company is called CRATE, yet it has nothing to do with the loot crate and other greediness associated with it, huh?
Hey folks.....
this is Rhykker? :(
hey folks this is the broken rhykker :(
is this rhykker?
Rhykker, we watch you and follow you because it's you that creates quality content. You can focus on other games too. Your audience probably has similar tastes anyway!
This may be the best video I have seen on youtube ever. Descriptive, and very honest. This is the reason you are so well liked in the community. Thankyou
You need to get out more mate
Will do. Where do you suggest?
@@kenntagram6608 for your eyes only - Southampton city centre. U won't remember this video in the morning
That seems really far away. Plus I'm scared of flying. But thankyou for the advice mate
Couldn't agree more. It's not the news that was bad, but the deployment of it.
It Sucks Diablo Community had to go through all this Bs.
"Had"? Still has....
