To be honest, when I saw the pictures before we went there, I was skeptical and thought they might be photoshopped :) It's not, it;s gorgeous and we liked how well taken care of is the area where the tourists can rest.
It as gorgeous as the pictures show and if you just show this picture to someone without saying it is in the Philippines, they would think it's New Zealand, Pakistan, Nepal or similar. It even resembles of a similar place in Romania, our country, Bucura Lake (but it's not a volcano, it's a glacier lake)
      Thanks so much for watching.

I've been there once long time ago really beautiful but my favorite part is the 4×4 going there in the early morning while watching the sunrise 😌 Guys if you like adventure and off the beaten path with lots of hidden gems explore the cagayan valley region or Occidental/Oriental Mindoro, Palaui island in Cagayan and Tambaron island in Mindoro is a must see and there's so much more to explore there with few or mostly no tourists!

    • @roamaniacs
      @roamaniacs  2 года назад +1

We were not upset at all about this, I think it's safer for everyone not to swim in the crater lake - the scientists there were really nice and explained us how on the other side the water temperature is rising, although for now there is no reason to worry, but activity there still is under.
And eventually on the way back the rain gave us a real good shower haha!

The place was amazing and we would go back to Mt. Pinatubo in a heartbeat. Highly recommmend seeing this beauty at least once 😍 Next time we want to do the 2 days trek from Porac ♥️
      About the cost:
If you go straight to Capas Tourism Office and book your tour there (which we don’t recommend) you will pay around 2400php per person for a private tour. A group tour is not that much cheaper per person, maybe around 1800.
But we recommend booking a tour from Manila if you don’t have your own car, it is not easy to get around the area otherwise and you’ll spend more on transportation.
It is also pretty much the same price for the tour if you join from Manila with a group and less headache :)

Hello, felt so sorry for you both that your guide did not tell any info at all about the soroundings nor what happened to a specific place in your path. Maybe you may tell the information office about the matter and let improved their touring events. Have their tour guides to explain more about the places they are at.

    • @roamaniacs
      @roamaniacs  2 года назад +1

Thanks so much for your kind message. In travels there are times when unpleasant or uncomfortable things happen.
We told the tourism office there - eventually we got a refund, but I am not sure they learnt from from we told them, we got the feeling there is a “nice” system in place where everyone gets their share of money and they won’t disturb the status quo (we know this too well from our own country)
We left out the part in the video where on the way back in the rain the guide and another local who they picked up on the way sat in front with the driver under the cover, and the 2 of us sat at the back where our car didn’t even have a raincover (all other jeeps had this)
It’s not about sitting in the rain, it’s just the gesture of asking at least a lady first of she wants to sit in front and not at the back in the rain :)
Luckily we read before about the places we visit so we know what we are looking at, but usually local guides can tell a few stories more than you won’t find on the internet ☺️
Anyway we still enjoyed our day and know that when you travel things are not always perfect. 🥰

So sorry for your experience of your taxi / car ride , its unprofessional to cancel on its last minute . You could have ask assistance from the hotel you stayed in Manila.
As for having a guide going to Mt. Pinatubo crater , its the best thing to do. There are incidents that happened when local trekkers / travelled by themselves. Unfortunately for you , your guide is not the ideal one when it comes to hospitality. Maybe its his bad day.

Thanks so much - we really want our vlogs to serve as guides to others and not just show what we do in a day :) Gald you enjoy this style!
This was the time we realised it's better to go with an organised tour.
As we're usually going on hiking trips by ourselves back in Europe, it's a bit "hard" for us to go with a group as we have our own pace and habits.
But for Mt Pinatubo is not worth it because eventually you will still start the trek with everyone else (the jeep rides)
We were mostly alone because of the car that broke and we got delayed by 1 hour so everyone else was halfway through already :)
Anyway it worked out alright even DIY as it was nice to see Tarlac and eventually we explored Sitio Baag, will post that video sometime too.

@@roamaniacs , I read all your replies on every comment , & we"re almost "twins" in mindset. 😎. I do trek / travel both : w/ groups , mostly milleneals ,- half of my age & mostly outreach / missions to Our IPs . Maybe you can try it someday , its on weekends .
and by myself with a guide.

Sorry for the inconveniences, inconsistencies you encountered. We hope this video reach out to our Philippine Tourism Authorities. Be also careful in renting vehicles thru app esp.when they ask for advance payment. Before going to your next destination maybe ask in advance from your followers here any tips with regard to transpo, places and other matters you need to know.
Or get info from locals where you eat, buy goods, esp. mall security guards are helpful in a particular place where you want to go. Trike drivers can help as well but use very simple English words and talk slower. Be safe and enjoy.

Thank you - we have spoken to the tourism office there is Capas - eventually they understood some of the issues but not sure if they will act upon them - there's an entire system there where everyone gets their share of money and not sure there is any real interest to bring more foreigners to visit. They gave us a refund, but on the long term the solution is to improve the services, not just give refund if someone complains..
In Capas particularly we had a hard time finding info from locals - I believe most poeple come with the pre-booked tours/vans from Manila.
Anyway, we wanted to showcase this amazing place so other foreigners will go to - it's SO jawdropping and deserves more attention.

@@roamaniacs you’ve both got a great outlook on life and apply restraint when things go awry and see the bigger picture.
Sometimes though, when situations get frustrating during travelling and you’re about to pull out your hair, then out of the blue, for some reason a more wonderful scenario arises from it. (especially in the Philippines). Can’t have the good without the bad and vice versa, I guess.
Happy wandering, I’ve been watching your stories from cold Melbourne (Australia) so am rightful jealous of the weather you’re feeling. 🤗

      @@asinstickyfingers8295 thank you very much.
It helps that we have worked in a very multicultural environment for years and have learnt already that what may seem natural to me, it can be outrageous to others, or what we find disappointing, other mays not realise it.
Travel surely teaches you a lot about the world and also yourself. We’ve chosen to delay a bit posting each vlog to give ourselves time to process every experience and be able to look at the whole picture as you say. This day was the most difficult one we had in the Philippines, it seemed that we were meant to meet only people who were interested in easy money. But then when we sat down at the carenderia, the lady there was so lovely, had a great chat and she also offered us mango for free just to see how it tastes with salt (we were surprised to see Filipinos eat it with salt haha)
Sending much love to Melbourne- hope you can visit the amazing Philippines soon ♥️🙌

We complained about the situation at the Tourism Office when we returned and we got part refund. We didn’t want to cause a scene about not giving us any info on the tour, but on the way back it was raining badly and only our 4x4 out of 10 others didn’t have a rain cover at the back and our tour guide never asked my wife to sit at the front next to the driver where there was a head cover. We found this as very bad manners :)
