D: Hi, Anna. I’m Dan. I’m new to the office. Nice to meet you.
A: Nice to meet you, Dan. You know, you have some big shoes to fill. I mean big.
D: Why is everyone telling me that?
If someone has “big shoes to fill,” they feel pressure to do as well as someone before them. You can use this idiom in the workplace. A new coworker who replaces a well-liked, accomplished employee may have “big shoes to fill.”

This video teaches an English idiom. Dan is taking the place of Jonathan in this series. So he has to prove that he can do as good a job as Jonathan did. He has "big shoes to fill" in the sense that Jonathan did a great job in his work and now Dan has to perform just as well.
