I'm pretty sure that the AI initially meant "Feats of Iguana" (as in stuff they've done) not "Iguana Feet" but got corrupted by getting questioned on it since voice-to-text would definitely hear someone say it and use "feet" instead of "feat".

When Doug was describing the AI at the start, I had assumed that AI was capable of being able to find internet info that nobody knows of, which would actually be really interesting since AI bots don’t tend to reference obscure sources that nobody knows about.
What I got instead was the dougdoug idea bot inside of jokebot’s skin.

19:29 the sound is literally the data being transferred. It was doing all the "connect to the internet" handshaking, audibly. That's what my dad told me as we listened to it, anyway.
Pretty much. Most of it the noise is the modems doing line checks to make sure they can hear each other, and telling each other what they can do. It's the white noise/hissing that'e the data transfer.
There's been a few breakdowns of the dial-up noise across the internet over the years.
Exactly correct, but i wanted to add a little more context. The static/white noise is the sound of the computers actually communicating; the series of seemingly random tones that plays before the static is actually for us humans. When the technology was being developed they wanted a audible signal to tell any humans on the phone line that a computer was trying to communicate. They wanted the sound to be completely unique, instantly recognizable, and unmistakable as "oh thats a computer" for anyone on the phones.
I watched a short that talked about what the dial-up noise means, and it’s basically this.
