Keeping your heavy equipment clean will greatly help the machine last much longer. It’s healthy machine maintenance. And if you have to have it repaired by a mechanic. They will be very appreciative of your efforts to maintain its cleanliness, that goes for if you work on it yourself as well. Short tip. These machines gather a lot of dirt and dust under the cab in the “belly” of the machine. Most of the time these skidsteers you can raise the cab by removing a couple bolts and lifting it like a car hood. Remove your belly pan and wash out the bottom. It will keep down on hydraulic hoses and electrical harnesses rubbing on the piled up dirt! Great work!

Mitch, thank you for such a great and different detail video. I take it that this is a favorite toy, and toys need cleaned as well. Like others who posted, keeping your vehicles clean (no matter what type) will extend its life. Also liked your problem solving skills and how you attacked your mission. Again, thanks so much. Very entertaining!

I operated that exact skid steer! Foot pedals and all!! I miss that ol’ girl as I had quit that job. Nobody could operate her proficiently. Instead they would be rough with her and not blow out the engine compartment or grease her. I, on the other hand, would clean and grease her. I NEEEEEVER had any complaints. Everything I asked of her, she did without any hesitation and ask what else do you want me to do. This video brought a little smile in reminding me of my ol’ girl. 😏
If you have a grapple bucket attachment, don’t hit the vertical thumb lever on the right control lever. The grapple will automatically open up. Hitting the switch again will allow you to open & close it at will.

Just a quick tip. That non-skid sticker just inside the door will wear out quickly. Just take that thing off and spray some truck bedliner on that area. It will make that spot slip resistant. Ask me how I know. 🤣

A unique Detail Geek video. Personally, I most enjoy the videos when you're cleaning older, trashed cars--the messier the better--and making them look better than anyone would think possible. Since you are a perfectionist, I expected nothing less in your approach to the Bobcat. It turned out looking the best it possibly could for what is a workhorse vehicle. And I liked that you talked with us during the video as you were completing the process.

It really says a lot about your standards as a professional detailer, Mitch. We can see it in all your customer detailing videos how meticulous as a detailer you are. It's really cool to see you take that much pride in a vehicle that's meant to be dirty all the time. That says a lot about you as a man... well done, Brother. 😎

I really enjoyed this video. Taking care of equipment really does extend its useful life. The talking through this was great. I'd love to see your other machinery cleaned also. I notice a little "huffing and puffing" during this clean - cars are one thing, but this took both a lot of work and a lot of care in a new way. The cramped space inside and all the moving parts on the outside are much different than the usual car, and very interesting. Be sure to include some snow clearing in one of your future videos!

Hey Mitch! It definitely showcases your talents and makes you achieve the more challenging details. Personally I prefer cars/trucks and would love for you to work on more classic cars too so we can see how to maintain older vehicles especially from the 70s to the 90s! I know you can’t pick and choose your clients but I think it would be pretty cool to see to mix things up a bit! Thanks for doing these videos! It’s always something I look forward to every Friday!

It’s fairly easy to tip up the cab on that machine. Two large fasteners accessible from inside the cab. Remove these and the cab will lift up giving you access to the engine and hydro pump. This makes life so much easier. Hope this helps

Hey DG, it's great to see that, even at 103.1 hours "new" you take care of all of your equipment, as well as the vehicles. This shows that a person could bring in a "cherry" condition car-with-only a couple hundred miles on it, from the 1950's to have you do a "gentle cycle" cleaning job on it without a worry! Doug🤓

I am 100% certain you will do both. I happy for you, that you've gotten yourself this versatile machine. You're going to get many years of service from it.

That has got to be the cleanest skid steer I've ever seen. I think all the other little skids will see how clean Bobby is and they will turn green with envy; therefore, I would imagine you will soon be the proud owner of the only skid steer that is the original color of orange and white! Very interesting watching you give Bobby a bath.

2 bolts and the whole cab swings up out of the way one is under climate control other is under radio. There’s 3 covers underneath the machine (14mm) and one under each of the foot pedals that pull out then you can power wash and the water drains out the bottom. Also I believe a 10mm will take the windows out for easy cleaning you will have to take the knobs off for the window slides on the inside of the cab(I think 7/16 deep socket). That orange bar on the right side is a cylinder stop you can raise the booms up all they way and that prevents it from falling on you

If you really want to get fancy I've been told you should get the locking grease couplings that work kind of like air chucks. as someone who has personally detailed lots of different machines i can tell you that brings around a few issues the main one being grease if you're regularly washing heavy equipment you're gonna have to have a hot water pressure washer as grease do not come off without lots of effort with cold water (like washing dishes with cold water) along with that a lot of equipment can be often overwhelmingly disgusting i have spent a week on a large machine. not saying don't do it just a fair warning of what it brings.
