Thank you for this helpful video--useful distilled information about Artist. Keep making the vids, you're helping many students and people alike. Small tip: decrease background music so that we can listen and hear your voice more intently.

Some years ago I was touring Hearst Castle and we went into a room that had a small Gothic painting hanging on the wall. The tour guide causally mentioned that it was painted by Duccio and that the Getty Museum had previously offered the Hearst estate $60 million for it and was refused. I was astonished that such a small painting would be worth that much but given that at most 15 works by the artist survive it rather makes sense.

What a fascinating story! I wouldn't be surprised that the Getty offered so much. The one at the Met was purchased for $45 million! Thank you so much for the comment, I'm going to look up the Hearst Castle one!
