4:43 June with glasses on. There's something you don't see her wearing in every episode... Also liked Skip (as the "Love of Chair" boy) sleeping throughout the Friday credits! Cool episode. Very GROOVY😎
Another lost-and-found gem from Season 1! 0:00 and 4:26--Yo-yo champion Yancy Yardley only uses "Y" words during the interview--and when he starts speaking normally, the interviewer walks away! 1:15--I have to admit, that haunted house bit with the hand taking "Y" words out of the box is kind of creepy. 6:15--Wild Guess, where the jackpot is a pot of jacks--and the cheerful runner-up gets a cheerful runner! 9:22--Carmela takes the last 2 words, "throw snow", literally. 10:00--Paul tries to "rip" the word "ripe" and eat it, instead of "ripping" the peel and eating the "ripe" banana from the beginning of the skit. 14:34--Slow Reader makes the mistake several times before he finally realizes what the message says. 15:45--Walk the plants? Water the mail? That's what makes Millie the Helper so funny--and of course "HEYYY YOUUU GUYYYSSSSS!!!" would later become one of the show's catchphrases. 20:02--The poor fly pretends he's a frog when he realizes that the frog is going to eat him. 20:21--Easy Reader and Stanley the word board--a recurring feature in season 1. 23:27--I didn't realize that they ever used the march version of theme in the Season 1 Friday closing sequence. On the Shout Factory DVD's, that arrangement is used in a Season 2 Friday episode.
This was one of the last children’s programs on television to show adults just having fun teaching instead of being portrayed as bumbling idiots. It’s little wonder kids today won’t listen to adults.
That’s another reason why this show is so legendary to me. The casting was just fantastic, I’m glad this is how I found out Morgan Freeman’s and Rita Morena’s acting career.
