I agree, they are art. To improve on the existing designs was no small feat. I didn't focus enough on the lens shapes, which are outstanding.

I really did not like the new design at first but when I tried them on they were very nice . I bought the all black buffs with the full frame and I just ordered the same in the white buffs both prescription they are 🔥

Absolutely beautiful, this is a call back to the vintage buffalo horns back in the day which featured both buffalo horn and the gold or platinum armbar which we called "straight backs" here in Detroit. I still regard them as the best buffalo frames Cartier ever produced.

Great review as usual! I think the rimless ones are step in the right direction for Cartier eyewear. The white buff horns are really nice. The standard lens shape is a lil off though.
What shape do you think would be better?
Wonderful set of frames, specially love the last 3 glasses with frame, they're timeless.
Try showing us some Maybach glasses too and perhaps a comparison with Cartier and Maybach would be amazing.

I love Maybach, but they are very hard to get hold of over here. One day, I'm sure I'll review them. I would say they are on par in terms of quality but I personally prefer Cartier's more classic and iconic designs.

Hello from the USA, we cannot buy Zeiss real Glass Lenses here, I have a question. With a -6 is it possible to make the new style frameless in this video into regular glasses ? My pair of 25 year old Cartier Sicier's got broken and I need some replacement. Is using a real glass Ziess possible with the frameless ? I just dont want thick lenses. Your videos are super informative. If glass cannot be used are there other options that would keep a -6 script to be used with the frameless that will not look goofy? Thanks
I tried them and I didn’t like how they feel. They felt loose, there was some play between the temple arms and the metal

Do they come in sizes bigger than 53 and 54? I haven’t seen them in any bigger sizes. I normally wear 57 to 59 on the other Cartier glasses.

Solid gold? Your best bet to get it the cheapest would be to have one made by a goldsmith.
However, I would strongly recommend the 18k plated Reykjavik Eyes Gold Edition frames for value

I just bought the black one yesterday. I didn’t like the bridge so I’m having it change as well as the lenses.
That's a shame! I think the bridge takes a bit of getting used to as it is quite bold

Hi Peter, ignore the stock size because they should never be made in that size. When you order them, we will custom make them to your size so they fit perfectly. This is essential with natural materials which cannot be adjusted.

Mine are big to the point they slip right off my face. I asked the place I got them from several times if they could adjust them, but they won't do it. How do I get them adjusted to my face?
If I got my lenses installed at a Cartier authorized dealer and received them back with the hinges being over bent to the point that the gold plating is cracking at the bend. This happened after the gentlemen took them back to adjust them to my face and he really bent them good that would be there fault correct?
Yes, but I would expect it to be covered under Cartier's warranty if the gold plating is cracking.
However, this is a perfect example of why you should only buy Cartier from specialists, because if they aren't made to measure in the first instance, you will encounter these issues!
@@thespectaclefactory After going back and forth with the store owner he’s decided to take back the prescription lenses refund my money and replace the corners that he cracked the gold plating on. He didn’t want to admit guilt and is being very aggressive.

I would definitely recommend the Santos de Cartier version as I think the exposed screw add a little bit of interest, but that's just me. And get an amber flash on those Pioneer PhotoFusion lenses to finish them off!
I love the new Cartier design. However I'd like to point out a little misinformation. The Cartier C frame extended halfway on the arm isn't a new idea or design. It was actually first put into production in the 90's in different variations. Those original vintage frames are highly sought after and hard to find. What Cartier has done is infused the old vintage look with modern design. I enjoyed this video and will definitely be ordering a few pair. I still have the original wood Cartier Glasses. I will probably keep them forever. The value seems to go up over time and are valued at about $4,000

just got a pair of older C-decor Burl wood frames, the new wood is a bit boring here.

Wow I got a pair of the white ones people need to understand that the previous one the straight back came out in 1990 and the monceau they are the king of cartiers and to think they came back out is crazy because the straight backs are at least 7k if you can even find them remember 1990s thats old if you guys got some money I would encourage you to buy a pair because you might not see these ever again

My choice would definitely go for wood with green lenses. More grip, better price, more interesting look for me. And those green lenses really give some edge to it.
I just saw the price on the website and... I probable wouldn't pay. Ok the horn is difficult material to source in a proper way. But wood? What so special about it? And if it's not wood that make that price then what?
It's not the raw materials that create the value in any product. It's the craftsmanship, and wood is far, far more complex to incorporate into eyewear than acetate or even metal.
The wood temples are crafted from 7-9 separate laminate layers. I probably should have mentioned that in the video.

No, not really adjustable... they can get wet but it's not recommended to soak them
