How strange. My family has the same tradition.
Worn for a photo on a certain birthday, our little red dress is a different, delicate material which is proving tricky to repair, but it seems both dresses are loved.
Red is a celebratory color, so maybe it just happened to be in favor in that time period, leading to multiple families with a generational red dress from that era.
