I’m much older, but every time I hear young people talk about a 50/50 relationship it makes me laugh and think of my father, who was from another time. He said “ When it’s a 70/30 split, ain’t no confusion about who the King is in the Castle. “ 😂

I just wanna leave this here, SOME mothers have done a poor job (some in my family included that’s why I have this opinion) at raising the men in the family. Me & my sister are basically slaves in the house we live in& the men are slack & relaxed. This is why some men have the notion (because they saw it growing up) that women are supposed to give 200% while they think they compartmentalize what they can & cannot do in the home. You are sooo correct that women have another job after coming home from a corporate job or job on the outside. So now the ladies have to be really careful of the men they get into relationships with because their mom taught & instilled things in them that they think are correct but you’re like he’s a good guy but the way he looks at things & how he thinks you’re supposed to do this & that & he’s supposed to just sit at home & do everything is just not for me & for other women I think. Thank you for sharing this video, you have to know how you want your relationship to be & not what society says & if he’s held by societal roles then you have to make a decision on whether you can compromise on that or not. Thank you for sharing your experience! I have also witnessed the same scenario in my family and it showed me how I don’t want to be. With that said, me and my husband had to have open and honest conversations about what is FAIR so that neither one of us feels overworked, misused, or abused. And we often check in with the other whenever one of us is feeling overwhelmed.

I just want to say that you are blessed to have a husband that wants and is able to be a financial head.
I see my mother and my father have the same relationship. He was the financial head and my mother stayed at home, but was also attending college. He took care of everything around the home, and he appreciated her for that, and she appreciated him for what he did as well.
Now I look for that same thing because that’s what I’m used to but everyone wants to do 50-50 take me around. It’s nothing wrong with it but I feel like what you were saying. In the video you are contributing as well, even if it’s not financially, but I also feel like a lot of guys nowadays want to stay at home and be taken care of by women. That’s a situation that doesn’t get talked a lot about is always guys talking about females want to be taken care of. They don’t mention that a lot of them don’t want work or contributed to anything.
But just know that you are extremely blessed ❤❤

I'm so grateful that someone from the next generation can see the entire picture. The fact that you said it goes so much more beyond going 50/50 financially. Because marriage isn't just a corporation. Yes it is two people coming together but it is so much more and especially for women. It cannot be quantified down to paying for the bills equally. Because as you referenced brilliantly I might add, is that the second shift exists for a lot of women and it is what contributes to our anxiety and our depression. Trying to have a successful and loving relationship splitting things so-called 50/50 is probably why in the United States that the divorce rate is so high. There are other ways to have a fair and balance marriage, not just financially, but spiritually philosophically however you want to look at it. I absolutely love this conversation and it's great to see young people having it in a mature way. I'm an older person and 50/50 just like another person posted on this is a joke. There's no such thing! Or did the vows that you took standing before God mean nothing? That's just my opinion so please be respectful as I hope that I was.

😩 “Running To Walgreens.. The Project Due Tomorrow” Took me back #95baby I was the only child ( for 11 years )and my mom use to work from 11PM to 7AM. Man…. You took me back. My father worked as well 9AM to 7PM. They made it work ❤️💪👑👑
Shout out to all the mothers, fathers, even the family members too help babysit #loveFamily.. no family is perfect… But it made me a good woman and stay out of the streets.

Thank you for sharing this, I’ve been married for 14 years now and I believe many women want a wedding not a marriage, because marriage is not always glamorous, being vulnerable with someone and vice versa takes time and a whole lot of patience.

Like you said stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. I encourage all new hires to contribute to your company’s 401k plan as soon as you’re eligible because you never know when the unexpected will show up. I remember when I lost my job in 2019 for the first time ever in life and how that made me feel. I hate to even think back to that period in life but I definitely know how he felt.

With the 50/50 situation, I agree with you. I did grow up with parents who do the 50/50 but your way of thinking made me think higher. I just know I refuse to be the man and woman of the relationship. Its really women out here who literally doing the most just to have a man😭
I’m with you on that! I refuse to be the man and the woman! It’s unnatural and unhealthy! People often forget to include everyday responsibilities into the 50/50 convo and base it solely on finances, but there’s so much more that goes into running a home together.
