    These are Physalis peruviana, and have many common names in many languages. In English, I have heard Cape Gooseberry or Golden Berry. I have two of these plants on my patio; I started them with seeds from fruit I got at Trader Joe's. I think the Ground Cherry is a slightly different variety which grows very low to the ground, only about one foot high. Very fun to grow!

      I will research. I was given this as ground cherry. Thanks for letting me know.

      Yes I think golden berry, I was wondering how it grew so tall! Ground cherries are low and spread out all over. They look the same though only slightly smaller fruits.

      That was my question. I started seeds from store bought golden berries but they've grown over the side of the pot down to the floor then turning back up. They're doing more creeping than anything else. The biggest leaves are about as big as the palm of my hand. Not sure how much space they require, of they will grow upright , how to last through winter ?

      Except that my ground cherries don't grow any larger than a baby pea although the plants themselves are huge,

      @@artstamper316 Oh, interesting. Mine are about the size of a small cherry tomato.

    Excellent presentation. No repetitive background music. Good speech rate per minute. I learnt a lot. I am a bit confused about the ground cherry name
    Why this name when its a bush. I bought it as a seedling and it's going great. Can pruning help the harvest. I am amazed how easy it is growing. Will it grow through winter? I love the flavour? Are they true to type or always produce fruits. I have a 12 year old avocado oh when will fruits appear?

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  3 года назад

      Someone commented earlier that it could be golden berry. I got it as ground cherry though. My plant got the fruits in one year and it survives through winter although you have to protect it from frost

    Wow I've never seen such big ones,they normally grow on their own here at home and they are quite small, can I transplant them and how many times should I water them?

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  3 года назад

      Transplant them in spring in rich soil , protect from harsh sun and keep the soil moist and they should grow bigger

      Try adding phosphorus rich fertilizer in the growth period like right now if you are in northern hemisphere

    How you prune the plants?

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  8 месяцев назад +1

      For me they die in winters so I prune them to the ground in winters. In spring, they sprout again.

    can seeds be harvested and saved for next season?

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  3 года назад

      I am sure they can be dried but I have not tried. I just cut the fruit and bury in soil and it produces new plants
