I watched many interviews with her and it seems to me that Conan is the only guy who isn't creepy to her and can handle her kind of humor. I think he's really a nice, respectful man. I like it.
The director of this movie really isn't Swedish he is arab-danish. I get that it is confusing as the movie is Swedish but yeah the director probably hate to be called Swedish because he directed a Swedish movie because of the rivalry between Sweden and Danmark. BTW SWEDEN ROCK DENMARK SUCK OUR WIENERS.
For a second at the end I actually thought they were going too show a clip of Suspiria cause the screen started too fade right after Aubrey said roll the clip :P
MY look after the clip was "wtf did I just see?" I mean, even she was biting her nails knowing no one would get it. Was that a Geico caveman commercial outtake?
I also liked Aubrey's reaction too, she was biting her fist, probably thinking: "I know this is totally weird. But please Conan, hope you like it or at least don't freak out too much." Then she looked at him for approval, only to saw him speechlessly clapping. She just raised her shoulders, "Nah, he's lost it. There goes all my hope for a weirdo soulmate."
Ahsan Zaman it’s how I was when I was obsessed with Magnolia. Had it on DVD and hosted a screening at home with friends. I was so on edge the whole time.
the image of nick kroll and fred armison doing a q&a and fred pretending to be the director about a movie they both know nothing about is the best thing ever to exist
Border is based out of a short story writen by the same guy who made that Swedish vampyre movie "Let the right one in" that became a cult classic in the horror genre
@Fintan I saw it when it came out, it's a really strange and really wonderful film. I highly recommend not reading anything about it before you watch it though, as going in blind makes the way the story unravels a lot more interesting.
Actually, is based in a short story named "Gräns" by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who wrote the novel "Let the right one in" in which the movie of the same name and it's horrible american remake were based on.
This is one of the best Plaza stories, the fact that the movie the theatre seems to have available and ready to go is Suspiria makes it perfect. Bizarre to the end.
"You're a Swedish film director at a Q&A for your new movie" is a pretty good improv prompt. Also everybody talking about how weird the characters in "Border" look - that's on purpose. They're literally trolls.
She'd mentioned that it got an Oscar nomination for hair and makeup as well. I figure that if they looked "normal," that nomination wouldn't have happened.
Oh, my god, okay, that makes sense. Honestly, I was thinking that they looked like trolls/I remembered seeing this clip and remembering them as trolls but I didn't want to be rude lmao.... Oh, that explains the lightning too!
I have seen many interview clips of her, I think most interviewers simply don't know what to do with her, conan actually plays along which makes it work.
people literally try to be awkward and its cool...but really awkward is only true when it actually creates awkwardness...silence or gives you thoughts of wanting to home or w.e lol...not laughs and gasps... i just always thought of Aubrey as trying to be edgy ....not awkward....
Seth Gifford I rented it on iTunes for only 4 dollars and it was such a wonderful and different movie, disturbing somehow, but good. I think it was worth renting it, although I don’t know where else to watch it
Fred is amazing! would love to see him as a swedish director honestly hahaha i watched the Border movie review by Elvis the alien last year. it's an interesting movie!
How many people are actually never boring? It's a small number. Aubrey Plaza is one of that small number. She engages me with true comic rage, and a kind of authenticity that is as rare as lightening on a clear summer day. I hope she has a long and successful career, because she makes me smile just by showing up, and she makes me laugh when she opens her mouth and is herself.
Border (Gräns) is actually a pretty amazing movie! The writer of Gräns, John Ajvide Lindqvist, also wrote Let the Right One in... Also an amazing movie! (just be sure to watch the original 2008 version).
Being at this prolonged drunken screening/improv debacle sounds like a great way to spend most of your day. I'd never forget it. Honestly it would make me feel like I was in my 20s again.
no but the aubrey plaza going through all these troubles to promote a movie that she simply thought was underrated and dressed to the nine to talkshow to talk about it WITH a clip prepare is the most humbling thing ever
Thanks for shining some light on this Swedish film 👌 which original title is Gräns. If you get the chance to see it, I highly recommend it. Luckily its gotten a lot of recognition here in Sweden.
The story she told could have been boring, but she made it interesting and funny. The networks are fools to not give Aubrey her own show. The Evil Hag kills it in every appearance.
She is so so hilarious and she is the most intelligent comedian I have ever seen her type of humors is not for everyone.. I really appreciate her BF its very hard to handle a shrewd lady like her
Ihad always loved this girls awkward genius look i had never known her name, who knew she was not only a refreshingly good actor but mad funny and chill too

@@m.a.3322 he's definitely weird

Why isnt this comment getting more likes !!
No one is asking the important questions. Where is the footage of Fred Armisen pretending to be a Swedish film director? That sounds amazing.

i dont know. shes wearing more make up than usual and seems kind of nervous.
@@xemndrasle8076 she always seems exactly this kind of nervous. :)
But I agree with the make up.
No it´s not.
She used to be more awkward than this on Conan
I've seen Aubrey Plazier
Andy and his perfectly timed Suspiria remark. Fantastic.
Andy is an underrated gem. They work so well together!
that's why his there to make awkward moments go away.
For a second at the end I actually thought they were going too show a clip of Suspiria cause the screen started too fade right after Aubrey said roll the clip :P
"Andy Saved Aubrey Plaza's 'Border' Clip Screening"
You are watching tbs up there bill?
wow Fred Armisen and Nick Kroll are true friends lmao my friends would’ve left
Those aren't your friends, leave em.
Pro tip: if you tie them to their seats they can never leave you
I would've loved to see an hour of Fred and Nick improv I wish it was filmed!!
You have friends? I thought most people just have twitter followers that might exist in real life or might not these days.
Nobody would've showed up to my screening. Fred and Nick for sure, but also the 60 or so people Aubrey invited.
Conans look after the clip told me a different story "wtf did i just see"!
Yep agree
MY look after the clip was "wtf did I just see?" I mean, even she was biting her nails knowing no one would get it. Was that a Geico caveman commercial outtake?

Tanya Kappen lol I looked up the plot of the movie and it seems all over the place and fuqqed up. Stick with the caveman plot haha.

It's hard to tell, but she's actually less awkward in this interview then normal 😂
She had lots of sex since then thats why
Yeah she looks normal that's weird
the awkward schtick kind of only worked when she was younger, shes in her thirties now. It's good that she's a bit more self-possessed.
Jeff, why are you like this
She forgot to do her act lol.
This is so weird and i love every sec of it.
