I really, really loved Iwasawa's voice. Honestly, I would take her over Yui any day. I was really disappointed how quick in the series she was replaced. Glad they made new songs for her "posthumously."

okay i love iwasawas voice, it has this mature,cool calm, natural flow to it but yui has some awesome music too, she has this sort of style reminicent to haruhi(aya hirano)thats still different, plus i love some of yuis songs too, like thousand enemies & run w/ the wolves.Theyre both AMAZING!!!

For anyone who wants to know about Marina's other work, she's singing for the composer Deco*27. If you can read Japanese, he's probably written at least something on her background on his site or Twitter. Marina is her real first name, but nobody seems to know her last name. :I
@Mrnerd567 certainly it may look like a bass, that neck is way to large, but if you look closely the tuning pegs are that of a guitar (like a fender stratocaster)
Doesn't matter whether you like Yui or Iwasawa, they're two different people, Yui looked up to Iwasawa, there is no reason at all to group them together or compare them. Just enjoy the song and if you like Yui better, listen to some of her songs. :).
although lisa (yui) is one of my fave japanese singers i like marinas (iwasawas) voice more she just has a naturally beautiful voice although yuis is more energetic the yui version of my song was not nearly as good as the original but yui tends to do the fast paced songs better in the end its all a matter of opinion
Both of them are good in their own ways, ;__:. Iwasawa is grown, more mature and gives you some sense of peace, and hope. Where Yui is more like a pop star of today, giving you fighting power, excitement, stuff like that.

I'm actually pretty sad Marina (Iwasawa's singing voice) hasn't gotten much exposure. I think LiSA (Yui's singing voice) got most of her exposure through Angel Beats, and then some more on Fate/Zero. I love both of them, and I really wish Marina would be in more shows.
While you're right that they're both good, it's fair to say that you think one is better than the other. In fact, it's even made into a plot point in the show that Iwasawa is more talented than Yui, so Yui has to work extremely hard to maintain the quality that Iwasawa gave. No one's wrong for liking Yui better, but I prefer Iwasawa myself, and (in the show) she's a more talented musician. You should enjoy the music and the show, but no one's wrong or bad for expressing a preference.

I like Iwasawa very much. Her voice is really better than Yui's. So sad that she dissapeared in the beginning of anime, we didn't have time to complitely enjoy her singing .
Everybody has their own opinion I myself like Yui better than Iwasawa, with that said I still love the songs sung by either one they are both good in their own way and are both amazing vocalists and i wouldnt give this band up for anything in the world.
