    You guys have made me realize what a perfect transatlantic crossing I experienced last year on the Apex. Blue skies, warm air, friendly people, and never rough seas. Maybe I was just lucky.

    Having done Barcelona to Port Canaveral on WOTS last November, I can honestly say that the 8 sea days was where the holiday really began. After 4 ports it felt like we'd become hamsters on a wheel (!) but 8 days at sea to Nassau we REALLY relaxed, and that was includind skirting a hurricane! We've booked Lisbon to San Juan (Puerto Rico) on the new NCL ship next year. It has a very interesting itinery too! Looking forward to it!

    I can see how being "stranded together" makes people more social and open with each other. No ports, just people for fun. Forces you to really try to make sure the social is top notch.

    I've taken two transatlantic cruised..Viking and Virgin. Although totally different but both were equally fun. Viking is more the 'thinking person's cruise, and Virgin is just pure FUN. I do love the sea days and the occasional port stops. As an example, on Virgin, we stopped at Bimini, Lisbon, Cadiz, and Mallorca. The passengers ( or on Virgin, the sailors) trend older and NO children. I would definitely do another. For a solo traveler, I found the fare to be extraordinarily low. I sailed both in December and May, and I managed to acquire a great poolside tan. Highly recommend.

    We have done 15 transatlantic crossings and are so hooked! All the reasons you state play in to our love of TAs. Our #1 is relaxation. It was fun to say a brief hello to you this trip a couple of times as well. I highly recommend the reliefband for sea sickness. I have used it for 20 years. It is no longer prescription only. I own several versions and loan mine often and folks always end up buying their own. Happy sailing!

    I think the only way to cross the Atlantic is to be on the Queen Mary 2. That's an actual ocean liner, not a floating, top heavy resort on a barge.

    Love you guys. Just finished my first transatlantic on Anthem and loved it. I love sea days and because we were pretty docked in with fog, I totally relaxed, slept in, took naps. The downside was the loss of hours. By day 8 we had 5 spring ahead time zones and I was reduced to a puddle of tears. But I came back to life when we arrived in France since this was MY FIRST TIME TO EUROPE! Waiting for the 2025 schedule to come out because we are kinda pumped for a west bound TA. Any tips??

    My 2nd Transatlantic is in 20 days and my 3rd is in November. I agree 100% with all your points! Cost: The 12 day cruise I have coming up costs about half of the 3 day Bahamas cruise I have at the end of August. Entertainment: My first TA a year ago was 14 nights and they had a completely different show every single night in the main theater or ice rink. 14 different shows! I have one other good reason - points. Not everyone is into it, but I earned 56 points on my Royal TA last year (4 per night) which leapfrogged me from Platinum past Emerald to Diamond. Similarly, this cruise coming up will earn me 48 points (also 4 per night), which will leapfrog me from Norwegian Silver past Gold directly to Platinum.

    • @brentmorrow3682

      How do you gwt 4 points per night?

    • @larry4111
      @larry4111 10 месяцев назад

      @@brentmorrow3682 On Royal you get 2 points for cruising solo in a regular cabin (below suite). In 2022, to get people back on the ships, they were doubling it so a solo guest in a regular cabin got 4 points per night. You just had to book by a certain date and sail by a certain date. On NCL you only get one point if you're solo (in a regular cabin, below suite) but they regularly offer extra points as Latitude Rewards Insider Offers. For the other cruise I mentioned it was 3 additional points per night so 4 total.

    Which do you guys prefer, east to west or west to east? Having sailed many years in the merchant marines I'll only sail east to west. 25 hour days are the best when there are several time changes in the schedule. Plus it seems to work better with my internal clock. It also means a short trip home once docked in the states. And have you ever noticed that all these round-the-world-cruises travel east to west? Now, if I could only convince my wife to take that east/west trip with me. Your video might convince her. Thanks.

    • @CountryGuySC
      @CountryGuySC Год назад

      Just did a transpacific cruise on Ovation of the Sea from Sydney to Honolulu.. Ship was great, staff was awesome, but the cuts Royal has made were bad.. Food was horrible… no lobster at all unless you bought it extra for $29. Drinks were so weak, measured alcohol on EVERY drink, no free pour. 5 days at sea, twice, so 10 days days out of 18. Was too much for me. They cut 1 port short instead of 2 days, we left 8 hours early and arrived in Honolulu a day early.. A LOT of upset people because our excursions on the 2nd day were cancelled.. The solarium and all outdoor decks were packed and chair holding was not enforced. The 18 days without work emails and calls was awesome and I enjoyed at least 2-3 hours a day in the hot tub… Glad I did it, but wont do it again with all the sea days.
