- Meet 12-Year-Old June who has been begging her mom to visit us for the first time - amazing collector! She had a wonderful time visiting Turn of the Century Antiques in Denver, Colorado. We fitted the doll with a great human hair wig and slip and June is going to come back and show her to us when she’s made her an outfit!! Welcome to Doll Collecting, June! I'm 15 and have been collecting dolls for about a year, I think it's mainly tougher for younger people to collect older dolls due to prices. Many kids don't have jobs, let alone make a decent allowance. I'm blessed to have a grandmother that shares the same love and passion for dolls as I do! Even though our taste in dolls are different. My collection as of now is mainly vintage excluding two which are probably my favorites in my lil' bunch. Slowly but surely I know my collection will grow and it's nice to know they'res people out there that support us.
Prices are softer than in the past, save your money for one special piece. Buy what you like and you will never go wrong.
I started collecting when I was about 19. And my mother-in-law actually started passing on her porcelain dolls that she use to collect to me slowly over the years and I have so many now!! Most of them are from her but I have also found and bought some and I always find them in thrift shops and they have been super affordable they are worth so much more than what they sell them for here. I love all my dolls, but I also too prefer my vintage ones 🥰

Sherilee M Heya! I’d love to show you. I mainly collect antique babydolls. Something about the aesthetic gets me. But I do have some vintage and early collectors dolls. I wouldn’t say my collection of antique dolls are huge but all of my dolls together I would say it’s alot. Ill be sure to dm you!
Jade Wu Heya! Sorry i’m super late with replies. I just got notifications about a year later for this post. Some dolls you can actually find really cheap if you look on the right places. I got a baby bumps 1911 doll in really good condition for 10$ and free shipping because the owner didn’t know what it was. And I got some other vintage babies for 4$ at my local antique mall. You just have to keep a look out and know what you’re purchasing. Sure if you want a nice, marked, no cracks doll it’s definitely going to cost you more. But it’s always worth the wait.

I'm a male adult doll collector with over 100 dolls of all different kinds and I'm proud of them. I had an education in 2018 for two month and I brought a doll with me every single day. It turned into an experiment, because I wanted to know what people say about that. I had no bad experiences at all except for that one guy that compared my dolls with Chucky.

I am 32 now but I never stopped playing with dolls, creating dolls, repairing, collecting and sewing clothes and making houses for doll. This is so sweet! What a lovely girl

I started collecting 8" Alexander dolls when I was 14. Next month I will be 64 and celebrating 50 years as a doll collector. I meet regularly with friends for lunch with our American Girl dolls. We old ladies get some odd reactions too.

i believe it is harder for younger people to collect dolls but it is so important to follow your passion. Don't pay any attention to negative comments or remarks! I had many dolls when i was young and sadly, eventually lost track of them all. Now iIhave been collecting for about 16 years. I am a grandma and am saving dolls for my 2 year old grand daughter for when she gets a little older, in hopes that she will be interested. You are doing a great thing, keep enjoying your hobby!
This little girl reminds me of myself and how much i loved dolls as a child......my collection is quite great due to my wonderful loving husband........

Love this Rachel. Such a lovely little girl. I’m 68 and have a room full of dolls...all vintage but I hope to save up for an antique fashion doll. I saw the first fashion doll in a museum in SanAntonio is was hooked. She had a huge wardrobe as well as all kinds of accessories like a pack of real cards, a pair of opera glasses and so many other items. Every time we visited my grandparent I begged to go to the McNE which also had an amazing collection of Impressionist paintings, which I also loved.
Love it!!! Young girls grow up too fast. They let the pier pressure of their friends stop playing with there dolls. When I was 11 years old we moved from Savannah Ga to Chattanooga TN I was shocked that the girls my age did not play with their dolls any more. I missed playing Barbies with my friend back in Savannah!!!

I want to start collecting dolls! Today I bought my first doll. My sister hates my doll and she wants me to throw it away. She keeps calling it a demon, even tho her friend’s mom has a doll collection.
Do NOT give up! Sounds like a jealous sister to me, who might want to be invited to join you at some point! For now, ignore it and keep your dolls in a very safe place (ask a parent for help with that). You are going on to great things, if you stick with it.
My hubby and I both collect. Our children all say our dolls are creepy but when we go as a family out. If they see a doll they are the first to point it out. Do not let anyone tell you what you should be doing either with collecting or life, Follow your heart
I agree! She is probably just very jealous! She should never ever stop you from collecting dolls! Collect as many as you can! 💕 I have about 24 dolls and I won’t be stopping anytime soon!

Awww I wish I had this kind of support when I was her age ❤️ my aunt was making dolls when I was a baby, so I’ve been assisting making dolls since I was 6, and making dolls at 13. Now that I’m 28, I have 12 antique dolls and 9 antique repro dolls I’ve made myself. I’m very excited to continue this hobby of collecting and teaching others how to make and conserve their dolls. I also get a kick out of being that weird doll man, as we’re very few I’m sure ahahah

Doll collecting was a booming industry in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but due to modern misconceptions and interpretations, dolls have gotten a bad reputation. I hope you enjoy every moment of your collecting, because it’s honestly so enriching!
When I was 10 in 1971 I loved going to the neighbors across the street and the teen girl about 16 years old had her Barbie house and car and about 10 or more Barbie's and a few Kens. She also looked like Barbie and was popular. The dolls were made for teens and woman and fashion. Younger kids usually did not have as many because we had dolls more our age and our baby dolls.

Thanks for this wonderful Video. I began as a kid to collect Monchhichi from 70s now i have 95 of them. Than I go to rag dolls and I have also old dolls that are 100 years old and Teddy Bears. Yes it is a joy but many people don't understand and thats what she said they are hiding thair old toys from childhood. So be what you want do what you love life is short!!

I just bough my first porcelain doll.
What has this world come to that this 12 year old girl feels the need to hide her love for dolls. I'm literally in tears and so broken hearted by the whole matter. The anti-doll madness needs to stop. It's truly ridiculous! People have always enjoyed dolls throughout all cultures for centuries. Some were even found in Egyptian tombs dating waaayyy back. Now all of sudden in the past twenty years or so dolls are deemed "creepy" by many. Why? Because of a couple of stupid movies. Technology like a cell phone should never replace basic learning tools like a doll. Dolls strengthens nurturing and caring skills in the young which helps develop empathy. They also provide a sense of security for the child. It is a wonderful learning tool to have in emotional development. And. .they are BEAUTIFUL! What has our world come to that a 12 year old girl feels the need to hide her love for dolls? My heart breaks for the younger generation.

I'm 15 and at 10 I started to like old dolls when I was 12 I started looking for that type of dolls but I couldn't find any old doll becose I'm mexican and here it's difficult to get that dolls so at 13 I found a doll from the 70's it's a lili lady doll that walks they are similar to the patty play pal dolls and so far my dream remains to be a collector of antique dolls I hope one day find a doll from the 19th centuary they are very pretty

I use to hate how porcelain dolls look like but now if I past them in the thrift store I admire how beautiful they are
liked dolls her entire life? she’s 12 ! ha ha just kidding, 🤗. my Mom loved dolls, she bought old dumped Barbies, Babies,etc & fixed them up & made beautiful costumes for them. She did amazing sewing.

I collect bisque dolls cause I love how beautiful and aesthetic they are but anyone who sees my dolls they get creeped out and say lot of hurtful things like "they are outdated,useless cause noone can play with it,they are creepy etc" it really pisses me a lot.
ignore them, to quote the TS, haters gonna hate, shake it off;-)
I also collect Antique porcelain dolls, and I also had someone say that they find dolls really creepy and that bothered me for a long time until now I don’t care what people think of my dolls anymore.
People just find it easier to be rude than rather be nice!

Try a 4 year old, my goddaughter has a huge baby doll collection that she’s got over the years. She still has the first baby doll she ever got, her mom told me they were packing up toddler toys but not a single baby doll or baby doll accessory got put in the box, the first doll she got was a rag doll rattle with the words “ babies first dolly” stitched into the torso and she said it’s was a “big girl toy”. She hates Barbie tho and isn’t interested in them just baby or dolls that look like little girls, her older ones are all vinyl except for a China head and hands baby doll that she keeps in a vintage doll crib and only takes out in a stroller or carries it in a pillow wrapped in blankets, she has old drink and wet ones I’ve helped fix for her and a million other dolls, honestly I don’t think she will ever grow out of them
