I'm about 2 years late, but watching RUclips videos to see if there's a secret fix for me. 🤷♂️ -- My 1999 Mercedes Benz, starts fine, shifts to all gear slots, but does not move (in any gear). 👀🤷♂️
P.S. Do not take it to Aamco. You can buy an inexpensive code reader that plugs into the car. The connection is located left side of driver's footwell.
Thanks, I made sure the trans and oil are full / clean, checked all connections. This is parked in my driveway, and I've tried on three separate days letting it run to warm up, checking all the fluid levels, and shifting into all the gears and no movement. This car's taking a trip to the mechanic next week. Four blocks away, thinking I'm going to have to push it there (don't wan to pay the towing fee). 😎💯✌️
Hi - mine is a 1996 - the wire under foot pedal is snapped- can I make a permanent OPEN ONLY fix inside the selector somehow? Or tie wire or something? so always OPEN It only moves a release bolt? The car is too old to pay mechanic - thank you
@@ericdjahn Well... I could say some black magic occurred. I have opened the trunk to take a screwdriver and the rear light was filled with water, once I spilled the water out I could move the gear from P :D
Thank you Eric! I didn’t even realize the neutral release button was right there 😂
Your welcome!
THANK YOU VERY HELPFULLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

Could be several things. Maybe a TCU. Transmission control unit.

If liquid spilled into the shifter, that could cause problems too.
