注1：后土，是传说中“四御/六御”主神之一，生命之母，生育之神，死亡之神，冥界之主，大地之母，农业之神，五行神中的土神，世间最早的地上之王。
Note 1: Hou Tu is one of the legendary chief deities, known as the Mother of Life, the Goddess of Fertility, the Goddess of Death, the Mistress of the Underworld, the Mother of the Earth, the Goddess of Agriculture, the Earth Deity among the Five Elements, and the earliest earthly monarch in the world.

Note 3: Regarding Hou Tu's gender, the earliest records depict her as male, while later books from the Han Dynasty onwards portray her as female. This video adopts the latter interpretation.

Note 4: Concerning Hou Tu's appearance, she was initially depicted as having three heads, six arms, and four legs. It wasn't until the Ming and Qing dynasties that she was depicted as a beautiful goddess. This video adopts the latter portrayal.
注5：关于女娲的出生，有多种说法，本视频采用了女娲是后土创造的说法。
Note 5: Regarding Nuwa's birth, there are various interpretations. This video adopts the interpretation that Nuwa was created by Hou Tu.
注6：关于冥界，茅盾先生在1929年的《中国神话研究ABC》中有做过论述，提到中国大概也有极完备的冥土神话，但现代几乎全部丢失了，后代的书籍中提及冥土的故事抵掺入了佛教思想、印度神话，已不是中国民族神话的原样。佛教在中国的兴盛，恐怕是中国本有的冥土神话绝灭无存的最大原因。
Note 6: Regarding the underworld, Mr. Mao Dun discussed in "Chinese Mythology Research ABC" in 1929 that China probably had a very complete mythology of the underworld, but it has been largely lost in modern times. The stories of the underworld mentioned in later generations' books have been mixed with Buddhist and Indian mythology and are no longer the original Chinese mythology. The flourishing of Buddhism in China is perhaps the main reason why the original Chinese mythology of the underworld has disappeared.
