Lesley-Ann Brandt is South African. so it was kind of a homage to that. Might actually have been her suggestion.

Love the way Maze says "You speak Lilim?" and then switches to Afrikaans and switches back to English to say "Guess not" when the only reply she gets is "What...?"
Hadder Yuri what is lilim? I heard “low one”
@@backupaccountforcooldaddyj7895 Maze is one of 'the Lilim', the highest rank of demons, and their language is also called Lilim. :)
@@backupaccountforcooldaddyj7895 Maze's origins, Mazikeen of the Lilim, A demonic order descended from Lilith, Adams first wife.
Adam demanded she be subservient to him, and she basically told him to Get Lost, and she left him. God then had to create Eve.
The bible's account of Adam and Eve being created together is the Yahwistic version instead of the Jewish (which has Lilith as first wife).
@@ChannelReuploads9451 why do people in the show keep calling eve the first woman. do they mean the first human woman
Naraya Starks
Yes, human
Most Christians only believe in Adam and Eve. They don’t know anything about Lilith unless they’re watching a show like this that brings it up. The characters refer to Eve as the first woman mostly because the average human wouldn’t know any different and talking about Lilith to people that don’t know will either become too religious, or creepy, because she’s “Mother of Demons”
Really not as scary when you understand what she’s saying😂😂
Corkil I wonder if that’s what they were going for 😂. It fits the scene well.

@@red_dolphin468 No, Dutch is a developed language with its origins in Germanic. German is also a whole other language with its own roots in Germanic. Germanic is a old language from around 400 AC. (I think). From this ancient language came forth English, Dutch, German, French and even Italian. Because the language is from an age where there was no countries like today (just some small kingdoms and the Holy Roman Empire) the language the people spoke (in the regions mentioned above) was called Germanic. This was to simplify ethical background of those whom lived there back then. When countries were being formed the languages developed in the languages we know today. Search it up, it's not that hard :).

Some of you are reading way to much into it. It isn't a slight against afrikaans nor is it a political message. I think her parents might be afrikaans and I know she grew up in South Africa, they probably did it because it is funny. Not everything is that deep l.

Afrikaans Afrikaner here and I was pleasantly surprised with the funniness of this and I agree.
I just thought that it was awesome that Lee Ann could use part of her culture in the show no more no less. South Africans really need to get off of this racial hate bus that they are on. No matter your skin colour, culture, religion or sexuality we all get hurt and we all bleed red. P.s I am also from SA so this is my opinion of our strange little country.
@@shaan8513 I like to use the word "unique" to describe our country :P. Either way, I agree with you there. We need to get past the racial hate, but it's enforced through generations of accumulated resentment and fear, and I'm not sure we know how to resolve it. I'm still optimistic that it's possible, mostly when I look at some of the younger generations, but also because South Africans have this strange way of defying the odds.
