My wife and I just got back last week from Soldotna. And good god your piece of the world sure is incredible.. Caught an unguided shore limit for 2 people of coho at the height of the flood on my third day! Granted the spots i was fishing cleared out as the waters dropped and fish moved up. I was so happy to prove I could do it for myself. We did some guided trips later on that were great also. Many thanks to you for the info you have shared here that has helped!

Great video, looks like you were having fun, as you should. Got a video suggestion for you if possible, try to hit some of the major fishing holes (Bings, Swiftwater, Moose Meadows, etc...) during the late fall, and show what those spots look like without high water, and maybe try to recover the hundreds of rigs broke off on rocks?... IDK that would be interesting to show

It’s not any better. Lots of river cabins and buildings are filled up with water right now. It’ll be awhile before the water goes down and the damage can be assessed. Those fish sure like being able to scoot right on through though..

It seems the returns were later in a few key places this year. sitting and waiting, then wondering if it's another run failure. I mentioned in another thread how valdez known for their massive run of big silvers was off this year. It was next to nothing until right after labour day, even then, the fish were noticeably smaller. I think the derby WINNER was only 14 this year and i saw daily prize leaders in the #8 and #9
