    Ppl have to understand .. Watson was only targeted 66 times last season .. with 41 receptions . He was number 1 in contested catches (75%) .. and he was 4th in YAC receptions . Route running can be learned no doubt . I mean let’s take Adams for an example.. he practiced his route running and became the best over time . Watson also averaged 14.9 yards a catch . You give Watson over 100 targets he’ll have over 1300 yards with those stat lines .

    Respectfully, I disagree hard with this take. Watson missed all of training camp & still had some significant production for a rookie. 6/4-6/5 guys with 4.3 speed don’t grow on trees and even if he doesn’t work on his craft, which clearly isn’t the case based on training camp report, his athleticism & speed will take him pretty darn far in this league. His improvement over the 2nd half of the season changed GB entire offense. His speed will open things up for both Doubs, Reed & Muskgrave/Kraft/Deguara.

    All you have to do is read this: "After having 10 total touches during the season's first eight weeks, Watson has scored seven touchdowns on 17 touches over that span. Watson's recent pace has placed him with NFL legend and Hall of Fame wideout Randy Moss in the league record books." Both were tied with 8 touchdowns over a 4 game span during their rookie seasons. Did Randy Moss ever learn to be a great route runner? No. But he was 6'4" and ran a 4.25 forty with a 47 inch vertical. Watson came into the league weighing at least 10lbs more than Moss. 6'4" and ran a 4.36 forty with a 38.5 inch vertical. Last year he had 9 touchdowns with 41 catches and 7 rushes so 48 total touches. In Deebo Samuel's great 2021 season he had 14 total touchdowns in 136 touches. So Samuel had a touchdown in every 9.7 touches in his great year and Watson had a touchdown in every 5.3 touches his rookie year. Justin Jefferson is the #1 fantasy receiver in the league bar none. In his 132 touches last year he scored 9 touchdowns. That's 1 touchdown in ever 14.7 touches. If Watson gets say 90 catches this season. And let's be modest and say he gets at least 20 rushes to go with that. He could end up with 1,300 yards receiving and 220 yards rushing.

Tyreke Hill doesn't run great routes, AJ Brown doesn't run amazing routes and those are the top 2 wr yardage wise in the nfl this year. Hes so fast and creates so much separation he doesn't have to run good routes. Randy Moss ran bad routes too. When your that athletic and fast its hard to stop regardless of how polished their routes are. There is no way doubs and the other wrs on packers are anywhere close to watson and never will be. He was the same ultra athletic guy who thought his athleticism would just generate success. That doesn’t mean Watson will become that dominant machine like Adams but Watson like Adams response will take criticism. He got roasted the first half of last season for his drop issues then the 2nd half of the season he looked completely different almost comfortable. The thing about ultra talented guys is sometimes when they do put in work they grow at an insanely fast rate and doesn’t take long for them to make people eat their words. Question isnt: is Watson WR1? of course he is. The question is: whether he is willing to work harder to keep it; because “work ethic beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard “

    • @williamhermann6635
      @williamhermann6635 Год назад +2

      Jordy absolutely was a true #1. He was drafted to a team that already had Jennings and Driver. And he surpassed them both. Problem was he always had other good receivers around him so he wasnt getting the same 170+ target seasons and yet he still averaged 80 catches, 1200 yds, and 10 tds per season from 2011-2016 (minus 2015 ACL year). He was a monster in the super bowl too. Jordy was far better than he ever got credit for.

    • @williamhermann6635
      @williamhermann6635 Год назад

      @@lilcourtny08 The ONLY thing Driver had on Jordy was longevity. Jordy was a 23 year old rookie who didnt start till he was 25-26 and his prime was relatively short. But he was far better in his prime than Driver was during his. 3 13+ td seasons speaks for itself. You ever look at his 2011 season stat line? Dude had 1200 yds and 15 tds on less than 100 targets. Far more dominant than anything Driver ever did. Jordy never got close to the credit he deserved.

    champ bailey don't care who it is they cant' run with him. he just does crossing routes an they cant stay with him. Hes to fast. He doesn't have to run great routes. When someone is that fast you just have them zag across the field. Even the top route runners they dont' separate from cbs like Watson does. None of them of them had 7 tds in 4 weeks. Only Watson did it cause he separate and get open with his speed. SAme thing with Julio Jones never ran great routes. But he could separate with his speed or his size. SAme with Mike Evans. DK Metcalf doesn't separate. Doesn't matter if he goes deep, or short routes his routes are so bad he just can't separate like he should. DK Metcalf would make sense but regardless of the route if you watch Watson on his highlights he still separates from the cbs that they can't even touch him sometimes and hes just gone. People say he will get better with his route running. He probably wont but with his speed it just doesn't matter. Why randy moss and dk metcalf and watson fall in drafts. They worry about the route running but they are so fast it don't matter.

    I think this year is where we learn what he truly is. Rodgers is notoriously hard on Rookies and Rodgers had a bad year last year, not to mention all his negativity about his personal situation bleeding over. Watson is going to have a QB throwing to him that’s still running the offense that was game planned for, not Rodgers hero ball. All these young receivers are going to get targets this year and I think this is the year to watch, Rodgers ghosted Watson for a month because he dropped that first ball. It was som BS and we all know it.

    • @SokemRokemRobot
      @SokemRokemRobot Год назад

      There was one rookie that Rodgers kept feeding the ball to, even through all the dropped passes, and that was Davante Adams. And Rodgers had an abundance of patience with D. Adams for his first three seasons. If Rodgers had that kind of patience with Watson in 2022, Watson would have had 1,000 yds receiving.
