Their brain sizes and grey matter eventually returned to their original form as they stopped juggling

I started playing tekken 6 online the day it came out and introduced such a intricate combo system I practiced for hours a day and every time I lost a match and I found my hands starting to move on there own I had such good reaction time I was busting out combos as if they were math equations intact in a few months a made rank 2 in the UK for my favorite character and stoped using him cause I couldn't get a challenge, now I can't use him anywhere near as good and my reaction time sucks again but the general equation of each I made depending on witch hits failed and witch succeeded were generally around 10 to 16 frames persecond out of a 60 per frame second fighting game and the options you could pick for a counter are endless. If you love a competative fun game try playing tekken :)

That's nothing bro I play csgo my reaction time is faster than the particle rays reaching the screen to emit an image of the player.

@unamaxify I disagree with you. They're saying that the Mastering of a game raises the level of dopamine in the brain, increasing the overall level of intelligence of a person. I saw a study once that the military did and they came to the same conclusion years ago. Most game related skills are marketable (a deeper degree of hand, eye coordination. Faster problem solving. Thinking outside of the box, etc) not to mention the multi-billion dollar gaming industry that look for these kinds of ppl.

This is rly interesting. I learned to juggle today in 20min. I can last about 15sec without dropping it, sometimes more. (btw I have never juggled until today...and I did not use youtube or a book, I just picked it up and tried it) So does that mean that I had more of this grey matter to start off with? Thanks!

At uni I used to juggle between breaks for revision.
Got a first class master's out of it.

Well your brain does not gets generally smarter, it just gets smarter for the particular task that's being trained.
Most gaming related skills are not very marketable .
With an exception for those few people that are the very best at it.

here in this comment section we can observe confirmation biased gamers
ready to believe what ever tells them that their hobby is a good thing.
(not that i'm saying gaming is bad)
In it self this comment section proves that gaming after-all doesn't improve
    intelligence.

    @ChameleonLost88
    whats wrong with you ?
i did say training skills improves those skills
but specific skills are not overall intelligence.
Raising the dopamine level in the brain does not improve overall intelligence
it would be easy to do this with psychotropic medication.
Dopamine only works as motivator to something again.
That something you do however improves only a specific skill
    and not overall intelligence.

@unamaxify "Most gaming related skills are not very marketable."
3DS Max, Photoshop, Flash. media production software, archi-cad?
    Play & work.
I saw a 60s Sci Fi today, the 'science expert' crew knew less about acoustics than anyone who's ever played with a Cubase trial.
The ability to play fluently & creatively with softs is beyond marketable, with copyleft hardware, 3d printers, Freeduino & ever more connected people, cooperative home industry/play is a basis for economic recovery & ideas now.

These feminist will never allow it because they don't realize that intrinsically, men and women learn differently. They think academic achievement can work with boys in the classroom with no recess and that has been proven to lower boys ability to learn. I hope learning can be achieved by games, it would make a better world for learning.

The popularity of an opinion has no baring on its truthfulness (talk about missing out on school)
Play & education: the business of accruing skills & experience not intelligence.
Intelligence is linking abilities & knowledge in creative ways for problem-solving,
its a very elusive process, games are far to crude for human brains.
I like video games especially the "USA style slash & murder" ones.
They give me stress-relieve & better hand-eye-coordination but no intelligence gain.

  • @unamaxify

    talk about intellectual dishonesty
programming and editing are not gaming Sorry
playing games is not the same as developing games.
    stop strawmaning me

  • @marsCubed
    @marsCubed 13 лет назад

@unamaxify You've said all anybody needs to know about your play skills.
If you had gone to school you would know play & education are linked.
& who hasn't downloaded serious software to play with?
Rest of the thread seems to agree; most popular comment; Or are they all 'straw manning' you too?
IMO even anti-social, violent & alienated USA style slash & murder games teach kids & others how to be prison gang losers.
    Military makes games too.
It's not always easy to tell which the fun games are.

Took me one night. I think its because I started with one ball and mastered the basics quickly before trying the 2 then 3. Start basic people. Just like on a guitar you start slow.
