I'm a small business (one person shop) and I hate how these companies won't tell you straight up pricing... It's like trying to sell me a car, but not giving me a price until they can decide how much to charge. That's why I refuse to use MasterCam and it seems like they're the same way. If I'm missing something please enlighten me!
From my experience, at least with MasterCAM, the prices really don't change much when comparing apples to apples. They need to know what features and modules you require (mill 3D, multiaxis, etc.) so they can quote you properly. Different resellers may do things differently though so your mileage may vary.
SolidCAM is crazy software, but still lack some things, although it has most options in 2D tool paths. It is underrated. It is definitely worth to buy a full version, but still it is not same for 10 machines machine shop and when someone just started. And it all depends how good is your support. In some regions it sucks, and the give to certain company to be only dealer and if you are not satisfied there is nothing you can do.
