better listen to Swanheart from her solo project Beauty and the Beat. performs with Mike Teranna her drummer at the time, ex Rage against the machine member, a choir and orchestra to hear that song in its full glory.
She didn't leave Nightwish...she was fired by letter from the band ( Tuomas Holopainen) and they put that letter on the official page, and that letter were a lot of personal issues. This song is one of the few is about all the drama with Nightwish. You should loo for her live performance of supremacy cover of muse, her songs dead promises, victim of ritual, walk alone, etc

offers from other bands but stayed loyal....for the last 9 months, they
kept her in the dark about everything and as she began to find out, piece
by piece what they had in store, she turned away from them more and
more, for without trust, nothing can exist...when the end approached, his
ego and intense resentment of Marcelo, (possibly jealousy, too)became
stronger and he tried to stem the tide of fan disappointment by telling
the public these half-truths (ugliness at its worse).....after accusing her
of this ugly things , claimed that it was not personal..ah...he is lucky that
she did not open up on him during that lat press conference or the fans
would have been even harsher on him in the end
She was already going to leave the band. Tuomas just made sure that it was as ugly as possible. It was like "you can't leave me I have left you first!" Or "you can't fire me! I quit!" Very immature.
@Big Bill O'Reilly .. i can only imagine ..she always wanted more input artistically, stage presence and costume-wise but was rebuffed... First, he tried to paint her as a dark, gothic, unapproachable diva, when , in fact she was a warm and ever smiling vision of loveliness...what struck me, most ardently, is how she narrated an entire tapestry of his vision with her eyes , facial contortions and elegant hand-gestures and when called for vibrant stage presence...he just took advantage of her non-confrontational nature to work her like a field horse...even when her mother passed in 2003, which had her in turmoil(knowing how she always speaks with such longing about her) Tuomas, purportedly, wanted her to get over it and resume the normal, neck-breaking touring schedule, which most likely, figured prominently in her decision to give notice to Tuomas regarding starting her solo project...she wanted to use her free time to plan out the future on her own terms and not be saddled with serving another petulant master...just shows how resolute and challenge-inviting person she is..her delusional detractors often cite her being too aloof and looking as though she did not belong with NW and i tend to agree, in part...only my perception is that , it is they who did not belong with her looking disheveled and having an image of a profligate fraternity, while she always tried to look elegant and welcoming, particularly during offstage interviews...
@Big Bill O'Reilly ..oh, he did say that upon hearing hr initial demo offered by Emppu that she enabled him to set his sights much higher than then the mood setting band he was planning to establish just prior to hearing her rich, resonant, dark mezzo timbre and to his credit, he did literally admit that she was utterly irreplaceable and the fact that he strongly felt that without her there would be no Nightwish must have driven him batty....thus the bulk of his anger and resentment for her and Marcelo, thinking she was sinking NW with Marcelo's determined assistance..she gave him notice of desiring a solo career 2.5 years ahead of the end of "Once" very extended tour...she even cited that her reasons or feeling sob determined to break away, yet he continued to ignore her...when i hear people claim that he loved her, i can't conceive such notion in view of continued disregard of her most basic needs, working her to exhaustion or most importantly, attempting to ruin her hard-earned rep...you are so right, she is experiencing even more success than before and his last album is far more in the realm of mainstream rock than symphonic metal (either he is no longer concerned about staying true to the genre or he is losing metal fans at a large clip and need to shore up his base with many fresh recruits from the pop industry...
@Big Bill O'Reilly ..she established her own genre soon after going solo..that no one can mimic...and seamlessly blends and yet distinguishes herself in any setting

Year ago, I was obsessed with Floor Jansen and I could only listen to Tarja Turunen occasionally. For the last six months, it's been the opposite for me. I'm in love with Tarja Turunen's voice.
I must be of the few that got away from the nostalgia and realize that her solo career is as much or even better than her time with nightwish.
You and me both.
She has truly evolved way further with her solo career than NW itself.
I was listening to her version of "stargazer" live in Mexico and sounds so similar to the one she sang on their "From Wishes to Eternity" DVD.
As opposed to the version sung by NW with Floor, it sounds like Nightwish covering their own song
I think this song is a reply to "Cadence of Her Last Breath," the song in the "Dark Passion Play" album. The recurring theme in the lyrics of DPP album was Tarja leaving the band. COHLB tells about this breathtakingly beautiful butterfly that chose to live just one day. And made all the poetry of the world suddenly make sense to the singer. And the chorus is about urging her (the butterfly is her) to run away. And save her last breath to the singer. With butterfly's short life Tuomas of course hints that Tarja's career is over when she leaves the band. Who was the muse for Tuomas' poetry? NW-veterans can tell that song lyrics are often about him and Tarja, and there seems to have been air (or rather a tragedy) of romance. Tuomas got angry at Tarja in the very end phase of her NW era, "Bye Bye Beautiful" is another song where he says good riddance, and publically he left a very sour goodbye with an open letter trying to destroy her life and career. In this song "Until my last breath" Tarja replies she is not gonna save any breath to someone: "until my last breath you'll never know, until you feel the silence when I am gone. Now it's vanishing, everything what we might have been. Only now you praise, call my name that you won't see again."

@@Aurinkohirvi but people still feel imprisoned though... oh i am loving seeing her talk about her personal life and talking to other artists..she is even warmer and more self-deprecating than i thought...that Marcelo is such a lucky guy
@@bornready6924 Yeah she's just a small town girl (or mom), still nervous to go on stage (although she loves to perform) or start an interview or phone chat, takes a moment for her to relax and let her guard down.
