- Four Overbrook High School students were shot late Wednesday morning right as they were dismissing for the Thanksgiving holiday, according to police.

I grew up in that area and went to Overbrook High School ! Class of 76! We never had to experience such Violence and Trauma!

My decision to leave Philly 30 years ago seem solid!
My hometown what has happened? This was a wonderful area to live in known as the HILLTOP! So sad my heart is heavy!

my daughter went there she is 23 now it was violent at that that time i am 44 and i saw it coming people actually celebrated the killers so here we are. the shooter has parents and is home right now and the mother 9 times out of 10 the mother is not going to say anything.
It was alot of gangs back then tho. I'm quite sure if they had access to guns like they do now it would have been just as bad

Well here is a crazy thought how about keeping kids in school what part of the only reason they're in your school is to keep them off the streets and not being part of the gangs that they're obviously in and committing the crimes that they obviously commit that's why they're supposed to be at school and that's why their parents are supposed to be at work it's all the same institutions or where people congregate to stay out of trouble the school systems have failed these kids in every kind of way allowing a bunch of rival schools all out at the same time probably every student in every school probably could tell you that this was going to happen at a certain time school officials are responsible for being more active with students or in this case even allowing students to actually go to school

Overbrook High School is, in my opinion nothing more than a school-to-prison pipeline. I see they have a 99% low income designation, but being poor doesn't make you stupid! These teachers are not bringing up the level of the underachievers and managing to allow the aggregate decline in proficiency. I'm gonna go Baby Boomer now:

BUT HE READ. Constantly, walking miles to borrow and return books and yearning for more became an autodidact able to absorb and utilize knowledge in a most amazing way. Stop letting poor be an excuse. Of course Lincoln was a genius, and not everyone is a genius...but the genius that I know is there in the community is being stifled.
