I have the larger xcalibur chartreuse black. It's pretty good but the downfall is that it seems rather over buoyant. Also the lure tends to roll wobble more than just wobble. My favorite is still the KVD 1.5. It has the perfect amount of buoyancy and wobble. It feels like it is cutting through the water better than many of the square bills I've used. Also for the price it is the best.
I bought a KVD Sexy Shad 1.5 square bill crank. 3 years ago! Put it on a Berkley Cherrywood HD MH 6'6 rod with a Quantum Pulse baitcaster reel. A friend bought me. That Mother's day I caught 43 Largemouth in a 1hr and 15 minutes. I didn't count for a while in the beginning. I was very busy catching and releasing bass. After that "Flurry" I walked to the other end of the pond where water was coming in. Bam! I caught a 2 pounder. Then on the second cast a 5 pounder. What a day of fishing. I will never forget that day. I had that lure for 3 years. I changed out the round bend hooks. That one bait produced alot of Bass. Then one day my line broke. Never seen it again. Shawn.
My number one has to be the KVD 1.5. Its well priced catches a ton of fish and comes in some great colors. I don't like the hook on them so i always change them to KVD mustad trebles.
Gotta try that Luckycraft BDS! We usually use wake baits in shallow flats saltwater. I recommend a (big 3/4 oz) Strike Pro Hunchback in purple smoke, pink, or bone.
Surprised there wasn't a One Minus or Baby One Minus mention. It's been the most popular shallow running crankbait since intro in early 90's. Good price and does the job. Runs only 12" deep.
I went to a local shop that had some Xcaliber XCS 100-200-300 in the past recently, they were all on closeout for $2.00, I bought all they had left, every color and size. I dont usually buy the 300 size (similar to Stike King 8.0) but for a couple bucks, i didnt care. I ended up with almost every color in every size and a few doulbes and triples, I was even lucky enough to get a handful of my favorite color Smallmouth Green. The Smallmouth Greeen XCS100 has produced more fish for me than any other crankbait I have, and now I have spares so I dont worry about losing one.
I wanna see a video of all your baits in ea. category, like all your frogs u have then next video all your lipless cranks ect. And do u have an arsenal video out?
I'm new to fishing what do you recommend to use in a state river to catch fish I haven't had any luck and don't really have a lot of fishing stuff to use
well, just watched this one and your rip/jerkbait top 5.. cant help but notice you have the same brand as your top 5 and if not all in the same order pretty darn close. im guilty of finding a brand I have luck with and sticking to just that brand, however I was hoping your vidoes would be a little more versatile? I mean one brand is not the best at every category.. maybe you should do a video that shows maybe your top 10 go to lures you would have tied on or tie on when one just isn't working? I know its a subjective top 5 list however it just seems like its the same top 5 of each category,
I'm glad that you noticed that. This series of videos was dedicated to what my individual preference is in each category. As I stated, it is almost exclusively SUBJECTIVE but based on objective reasons through practical application. I've tried and tested dozens upon dozens of different companies. For one reason or another, I keep on reaching for these lures. I suppose I could make the list more eclectic or "diverse" however, that would not be very true on my part. Companies like Lucky Craft, Jackall, Spro and a FEW others seldom disappoint when it comes to hard baits. They have proven (to me and many others) to catch fish, be robust in their construction, and offer many options and availability. So, to respond to your comment in summary, these companies just plain kick ass and I want to make sure my viewers are unequivocally aware of that FACT! ;)

Love the series! No Strike King KVd squarebill!?!?
Strike King KVD is my number 1 go to. I catch so many on those. And they're very affordable.
Gotta try that Luckycraft BDS! We usually use wake baits in shallow flats saltwater. I recommend a (big 3/4 oz) Strike Pro Hunchback in purple smoke, pink, or bone.

Have you ever used the Norman mad N crank bait if you have what do you think of it?
Hey man just wondering if you have experimented with swapping treble hook for double hooks to keep from that front facing hook of getting hung up?
Kevin do you have o will be doing a review on mid-deep diving (8'+) crankbait?
surprised there was no kvd 1.5. great video.
Just what I was thinking
This video is from 2015 is there any square bills that have come out since that would replace any of these top 5.

I'm new to fishing what do you recommend to use in a state river to catch fish I haven't had any luck and don't really have a lot of fishing stuff to use

Heddon was ahead of it's time with the Big-O. All others bait companies are still trying to copy it.
hey kev, it's nice video. Do you have a video "HOw not to lose your crankbait?" it's funny but i hate losing my bait during fishing. Thanks
Hey nice vids plz make more.
Great reviews but you need to get rid of the glare from the three lights...
Then you won't be able to see anything.
+Nick Jenks lol...I said glare NOT lights...
+Bill Stoger actually for his more recent indoor vids he is using a nice black matt as a background...glare no more!!!
Yes but in order to get the glare out he would need to turn out the lights.
+Nick Jenks ...or use a non glare surface...

4:19 Fishing I don't have Facebook. How can I get in touch with you
Ima Shaker is the best of square bill
Ur crankbaits look like they've never even seen the water. Definitely don't look like they've caught "tons of fish." How is this possible?
