Why didn't you open the book in half and staple it that way? The staple is then not visible. When you open the book when you staple the exterior then the book looks hollow between the staples instead of flat. Just an fyi.

Hi. Just one suggestion. When printing your book add an extra distance for the inside margins (for left pages, their right margins; for right pages, their left margin) so once you staple or sew the whole thing it's easier to read the final product.

I recommend sewing your book with thread, it will be a fun project and it will lay flat. It’s very difficult to make a proper margin on the sides of the pages to staple it and still be able to read the inside of the page. It also will be super hard to even hold the book open when its stapled. This method is only good for books with 50 pages or less. I bought this stapler and did exactly as the video describes but i don’t think this is a good method. Doesn’t look nice and doesn’t function well. I don’t mean to shame your video but it’s honestly not a good method. You just need a needle, thread or string of some sort, and a ruler and you just bind your book yourself. It’s not hard and is super fun to do.

I use this stapler to staple up to 130 pages, which means the story can have 200+ pages. But I cut the pages, not fold. Saves the time of hole punching and the binding is sturdier.

Do you think this method will work with 8.5 x 11 pages? I’ve been running a classic car magazine for the last two years that is doing really well. I’m considering printing myself at home instead of going through my publisher. 12 pages each magazine - 8.5 x 11”. I’m just curious if this method of stapling would work.
    I love your videos!

we have a weird long armed stapler that can put staples in the middle of pages. I think my mom used it to self publish a booklet on pet care. I'm aiming to make booklets with classic stories for my kid to read.

Public domain, in particular here the book files you get when you purchase the Robinson Curriculum which has a library of public domain classics.

How does it work when you staple a larger book?

    • @ourhouse

Cut the pages in half and get the largest size staple that the machine can use. It can get pretty up there, I have seen my friend do it.

The two hole prong method...but topping that to be honest, is buying the reprint from New West Press if they have it lol.

@@ourhouse I just checked our New West Print and am planning on buying every Robinson book they sell! They look beautiful 😍. They also sell many books that are classic and included in other excellent programs that would be good additions for the slowing down of the program for advanced readers.
We are doing the Don Potter challenge with 2 of my children this year; before we knew about it we had been doing it🤣! One of them will finish this week and another will finish in November, and I can attest to MAJOR growth in reading and spelling abilities. An extra I noticed was writing sentences more properly without me correcting them constantly as well. I plan to continue with Wise Owl Polysyllabes in December for an intensive multisyllabic word work and have them copy the sentences one day followed by dictation of a couple the next day. A super simple system that works on sentence structure, spelling, and advanced phonics. Don Potter is one of my heros, plus Blumenfeld, Robinson, and Beechick. I would add you and Sheri Hayes as modern inspiration 🤗.
