Jason isaacs face is so cinematic, coupled with the fact that he is very talented and commanding in his roles, and he chooses great parts; double/triple threat.
This is a fantastic film and novel by Martina Cole. I have it on VHS and need to get it on DVD still so I occasionally stop by this edit. Thanks for creating and uploading it for us to enjoy, lillemegtralelei! :) This sensual Jazz music is lovely, too, :)
I have watched the series and I was mad at how Michael was treated. He was sexually abused by a monster and, yet, carried his family around his shoulders. Very few tried to understand him and some even brushed it off. His family cared little just as long as they were being fed and taken care of (Maura included). I understood why he wanted all the power because that's what he grew up with and for that to be taken away from him, gutted him. At the end, his mother still saw him as a monster. I really didn't like his mother. She's ungrateful and self-righteous. Felt truly bad for him in the end.
Thanks for commenting. Michael is a very brutal and ruthless character, but he also loves and takes care of his family, and doesn't deserve the hate he gets from his mother. Maura is the one that sees him for who he is. It's a tragic story and a tragic character.
The next book we got was Maura's game, but what Martina Cole should have done is confirmed Michael's sexuality either way, he was abused as a kid, so he may not actually have been gay, but instead was with Joe out of habit and to keep his family fed, meaning there's the potential for him to have had at least one child somewhere (shame we weren't shown him being confused over his sexuality or for this to at least have been addressed) and that child could have turned up and stood with the family in a different sequel (or in Maura's game). RIP Michael 😞
Michael was absolutely gay. Of course, his childhood s*xual abuse likely had a lot to do with it but he wasn’t shy. And, was gorgeous and charming - being a narcopath - he could have explored sexually with individuals of any background, of any sex and gender identity.

@judithj1 Yes, that was the original music. I used Audrey's Dance from Twin Peaks for the original. With lines from the series on top of it. The music here is not Badalamenti. It's just something I found in the YT audio swap library, because the original music was muted by WMG (and the dialogue too). I like to use Badalamenti, but a lot of his music gets blocked. I only have one album left of him now that doesn't (so far). Have fun watching the series. It's my fav of JI's early work :)

I'm Norwegian, and it's in no stores over here, I had to buy it online. I don't know if it's available in stores in your country, but maybe someone else does... By the way: Patience is a virtue ;-)

A few years ago, I asked TVSeriesBoy to upload it for download and he did so on the very same day! Hopefully, the site and that upload are still in existence. A film I enjoyed that reminds me a little of the era and cityscape in ‘Dangerous Lady’ is the actualised drama based on the incredible Coral Atkins’ second career of three, titled ‘Seeing Red’. It is uploaded here, on YT.
Have you tried the usual places? Amazon (i got mine from there), Play(dot)com, eBay? I think it also nay be on Netflix, someone said they had seen it there :)

Gosh he and Leib Schreiber really resembled each other at the same age. this is a really depressing movie! Too bad Jason looks so hot in it you just have to watch it.
She's a very bitter woman, that blames her son for everything that's gone bad in her life. Does she get "what she deserves"? I don't think that's the right question to ask. The series isn't about that. All the characters suffer to begin with, and it's getting worse. I don't think the mother would be happy about the ending, if that's your question. You have to see it and see what you think. I have vids that spoil the ending, if you can't wait.
