I was there !! I still have my ticket and the shirt I got there ! Ticket number #74 ! What a blast that night was ! I still can’t believe I made it in ! Literally in my own backyard !
Nobody does it better. The world is blessed to have two Beatles left, who both still give it back to the fans even though they could stay home on there private islands if they wanted to
Still a great song 60 years later! How many songs stand the test of time like this? This was the song that showed how exceptional this band was. Because of their incredible gift of songwriting. I honestly don’t know how they did it. One great song after another. Hit after hit. This is why they were a phenomenon and the GOAT to this day. That’s why the Beatles are legendary. 👏🏻😎🎸
I've heard Paul talk about this at his concerts. He said he and John wrote some garbage when they were really young that they both knew was absolute garbage. And then they started writing better songs like In Spit of All The Danger and then Love Me Do. But he said once they put the final touches on I Saw Her Standing There together, and they played it through, that cracked open their minds on how to work with each other and bounce ideas off each other, sometimes finishing each other's lines or words. Once they broke through that door they just exploded with words and music.
@@joe6096 Thanks for that anecdote! I never heard those details before. It a good story! Love me Do I still like for it’s simple charm. It shows the promise of better things. But I saw her standing there was a breakthrough hit no matter what! A great, catchy rocker that got people singing along and dancing even. That song broke through the walls and showed they were something special. Their chemistry was incredible and then George started making his contributions. I like all of his songs a lot especially the early ones. Like Don’t Bother Me and I Need You. Together, as you well know, they were three great songwriters and singers who also harmonized well. By some lucky twist of fate, their voices blended well together and they weren’t even related like the Everly Brothers were. So the writer usually sang the song with the other two singing the backup vocals. And it always sounded great. This is why they are the GOAT! No other group can match what they had. And they are Legendary now. What are the odds that one band would have that much talent? Probably a million to one against it. But they were that lucky combination. Like lightning in a bottle. It’s rare but when it happens it’s special and spectacular! Thanks for sharing that story. Unlocked their minds? They unlocked them all right! And created incredible songs and music that have passed the test of time. The Beatles are Forever!
There are many things I loathe about the Internet, but stuff like this - events, things I never would have seen otherwise - makes me love it. Thanks for posting.
Paul is a performer at heart. Big venue, small venue, interviews, movies ... anywhere ... he truly loves performing ... and we truly love watching him perform! ❤
Paul never forgot his roots in Liverpool or the people throughout this world that put him, John, George and Ringo on center stage. He is an amazing artist with a kind soul to boot. Thanks for sharing this!
Paul McCartney...love love love him. Best on the planet🌎. A true legend, a great person and it is so so wonderful to have two of the Beatles with us!!!!! Paul has always been my idol... favorite Beatle and always will be💕. Paul McCartney playing in this small place made a lot of people very happy. I know I was when I saw The Beatles TWICE in person when I was a kid. They came to Chicago and played two concerts!!!!! One at Comiskey Park and Chicago Amphitheater. I was THERE!!!! Had the BEST time of my life and I`ll never forget it as long as I Iive. There will never ever be anything like The Beatles again and that is a fact. John, George we love you, we miss you😢. Rock them in heaven🎸🎸. Peace and Love✌💗
@@rebekahnorman8991 Even though I wasn’t there in person, I can almost imagine I was there because of the intimate setting and how good it was recorded up close. You can feel the heat, so to speak. What a great show! Thank God someone recorded it and thank God for RUclips so I can see it! It’s great music still and I enjoyed it immensely as well! And since I can’t afford concert tickets these days, this is the next best thing. I play it on my 60 inch Flat Screen and it’s almost like a live show! I have a fine quality picture! And I can rewatch it too so I’m pleased! Enjoy! Fellow Beatle Fan!
This is what i like at most, concerts in clubs instead of big stadiums. Because makes you feeling the artist closer, i believe is more enjoyable, it is not necessary to hear 20.000 watts to appreciate your favourite band
i was on that stage about 2002 or abouts, did a cover with the house band..i totally pulled it off, and Harriet came over to tell me so!! Some good ole days are still rockin with Sir Paul and friends
Pretty poor sound overall, but it does capture Paul's amazing bass playing. And fun to feel like you were part of the crowd, which is more than half of what the whole experience is all about.
I'll bet many "famous" stadium players would love to play a small club again where you actually can see and feel the vibes of the audience. The problem of course IS the audience. Years back NeilYoung showed up unannounced at the old Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Crowd went nuts. Neil said he'd love to come back if we could keep his appearance quiet. (Don't broadcast it). He showed up another time and the word got out that Neil Young plays the Catalyst and it got a little crazy and he didn't come back. So if a fampous stadium player shows up art your club, enjoy it to the max, but keep it under your hat.
This video put me right there with them great job. To think I have played and sung right where Paul was. I guess that's the closest I'll ever come to meeting hm. Lived in Yucca Valley for twenty years and am moving back in two years to retire.
When I was there, all I could think about was Why? All these great artists played here! Performers who have appeared at Pappy & Harriet's over the years include Paul McCartney, Eric Burdon, Eagles of Death Metal, Queens of the Stone Age, Rufus Wainwright, The Donnas, Grizzly Bear, Neko Case, Spiritualized, Lucinda Williams, Leon Russell, Arctic Monkeys, Daniel Lanois, Band of Horses, Sean Lennon, Billy Corgan and the Spirits in the Sky, Vampire Weekend, Wanda Jackson, Ricki Lee Jones, and so many more.[1][2] A surprise appearance by Robert Plant in early 2006 led to a jam with the Sunday evening house band, The Thrift Store All Stars, which featured Victoria Williams. Not to mention the bands that played there unannounced that are not on any list . I'm assuming you were there, did you see all the photos of bands that played there?en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pappy_%26_Harriet%27s
@chad Life coach, I love it I moved for my music but am soon returning to end my days there. It's quite small a great place to settle down and retire. If you don't mind driving an hour and up to see or go to happening spots two hours from anything you need or want! As soon as my daughter graduates from architecture college (K-State) we're moving back!
It is a well known tale by Paul that in 1968, he would stop at pubs in England, sit up against a piano and play "Hey Jude", even though it was only in the working stages
I am the one with the iPhone up asking him to sign my arm, and he said he couldn't reach me hahaha. Excellent video, this is the closest we'll ever get to see the Beatles at the Cavern back in the 60's :')
Dennis Ratering I saw him in 76 on his Wings Over America tour and was front row dead center. "Wings at the Speed of Sound" was his latest album and he opened with Venus and Mars/Rock Show. Back then you could see bands with general admission and could sit anywhere you could get. My girlfriend at the time Tina Koustenis (you out there Tina? I remember you fondly) for to the Capital Center (long gone) in Landover, Md. 3 hours early in my 71 Pinto (loved that car) before they opened the doors and RAN to the stage, it was awesome. We were probably 20 feet further back than the fellow filming this. Can you believe it only $15.00? I never forget that night, it's one of my best memories. I had to work that night but told myself if I couldn't get off work fuck it I quit, I'm going to see a BEATLE! Seen him 3 times since, twice in 1990 in D.C.and 2005 in Philadelphia. Those tickets could me $630.00. What a difference time makes.
IMHO this chune is right up there with JailHouse Rock, Rollover Beethoven, Tutti Frutti, Great Balls of Fire - just a true rock&roll classic, that's all
So awesome! Thanks for posting! Now you have some idea what it must have been like in the old days watching the Beatles perform in places like the Cavern and Casbah.
This guy - a real genius - can`t be older! It`s a classical wonder! Paul play this song since ZWENTY-FIVE Yeeeaaaahrs!!! It`s like it was "she was just 17....."
I was waiting for the fire to start on the back wall ! All seriousness aside though, how surreal is that? Excellent quality camera work, stayed focused where it should be on Sir Paul sound is good. Could be worth some serious coin someday. Would make an excellent flashback scene in movies such the "Hangover " series just as one example. Awesome video!
Thanks for recording this. but it wasn't a secret concert. About 10,000 local desert people including me wished they could'a been there and should'a been there. Pappy's is our place!
Ruth Nolan yes, I know. I am so grateful we were able to go. Most all of us there were locals, which was great! They did a great job keeping it a secret till the morning of the concert.
Despite the muddy sound from whatever device recorded the show, a memorable event no doubt. Would be interesting to find out what the back story was of how this show came about.
Great performance, a little to much flash on the guitar solo though, that’s why George was such a damn good guitarist, completely selfless, got a lot done with few notes, the guitarist here still played a great solo I just wanted to take some time to recognize why Harrison was so great
There are stars, there are super stars and then there's Paul McCartney.
Paul just loves performing, big or small venues, large or small crowds....he is a legend and he never forgot his roots. Love him...
Truly amazing to play in a bar !!!
Get Back and this are my favourite Beatles songs, the last and the first songs of their album history.
Was in that crowd and it'll be something I remember for the rest of my life! Dreams do come true!
Lucky for yoy

How fab to be singing this all these years on....after writing it with John in the front room of his little house in Lverpool....
Love it when it's this raw!!!!
This was worth more than the concert ticket. Once in a lifetime. Thank you Rebekah.
It's SO humble of Paul to just "pop in" to small venues like this! [and other such surprises like Grand Central Station].
A simple guy from Liverpool has certainly come a long way and changed the world forever.
And changed it for better-thank you Paul!!
I would add the Casbah coffee Club, where everything started from....
Paul hasn't played a venue this small in 60 years. Incredible when you think about it.
