- Handbag cake. How to make a Ted Baker inspired handbag design as a cake. Perfect for a girly birthday cake! You can use this same method to make a handbag cake of any design :)

Basic Victoria sponge cake recipe -
Ingredients:
225g butter
225g caster sugar
4 eggs
225g self-raising flour
1 tsp vanilla essence
Method:
Cream together the butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs and vanilla essence. Once smooth and creamy, fold in the flour.
Pour in to a greased cake tin and bake in the oven at 180degrees for approximately 40 minutes, until golden brown and a knife comes out clean.
Buttercream recipe -
600g icing sugar, sifted
300g unsalted or salted butter, softened
optional flavouring
Beat the ingredients together.
Chocolate ganache recipe -
- To make chocolate ganache you can simply melt chocolate with double cream in a glass bowl above a pan of boiling water ( I use the hob to heat the water, but be sure to turn this right down once the chocolate begins to melt so it doesn't burn). I use the ratio of 3 to 1 chocolate to double cream.

Thanks for the tutorial Zoe! I tried it last week end for my sister in law. I added a zipper on top of the bag cake, used flexible water hose for the handles instead, and sprinkled some jewels made of hard candy. She loves it very much.

Hello! I followed this tutorial to make a cake for my mum's best friends and it turned out perfect! Thank you it was very well explained and easy to follow. I used a 9 in by 13 in (22.9 by 32cm) tin and cut the cake into 4 identical pieces which I filled and stacked that were 8cm by 22.9cm (32cm (length of cake)÷4 = 8cm). That seemed to be the perfect size if that helps anyone.

I've found that when i've painted fondant gold using vodka, i let it dry thoroughly, but i still get gold coming off onto my hands or white fondant. Where am i going wrong? It's not very often i paint gold, but i'm doing my sons 4 tier Art Deco cake in November, and i have to paint some gold onto white fondant, and don't want any to transfer over. X
+cupcakemum12 thanks for watching, unfortunately that does happen, you could try it spraying it with an edible glaze :)
