Propane is the better alternative, it safer as there are no spills involved just make sure ur connections are secured and the fuel does not go bad when stored for long periods as gasoline does.
The dual fuel is definitely a plus. We only have a gas generator and it’s working great. But when it bites the dust we will definitely check into one of these. A generator is an absolute must in our lives. Thank you for sharing! 😁
I bought 2 of the gas only versions 2200 watt inverter Gennny one for 300$ and the other 450$ at walmart .boght back in mid 2018 and 1 is used every day for 1 to 8 hrs a day and the other just recently had the pull cord handle broke and pull cord sucked back in so it's under warranty for 5 years so I need to use warranty repair
Thanks for the video. I think we are going to order one of these very soon, so it's nice to see that it starts fairly easily, even after sitting for quite a while.
I bought one for use with propane only, I had a very big problem stating it and my neighbor had the same problem with his,, their is a glitch some where he is now running his on gasoline with no problems, seems to be a good generator , I got rid of mine. ( will not hold prime )
Sorry, it didn't work out for you. We continue to be well satisfied with our unit. We found that when running on propane...initially,, after we haven't used the generator in a while, we needed to allow for the LP to infiltrate the system before it would fire up. But after ours is allowed that....it has started easily every time - one or two pulls.
Thanks for sharing your revirew, was wondering what elevation you are using this at? Does it do well in high altitude? Any info is greatly appreciated, looking into one for my families mountain homestead . Thanks in advance, cheers-new sub
I would like to ask you a question, Did you first bleed the air out of the propane line before you connected it ? This is done by turning on the valve of the propane tank until you can hear propane coming out of the hose, then you connect it. I think it would then start with less pulls. ?
No. We just hook it up and go. Not a big deal to us - it pulls super easy. But I've seen some folks online complaining that they think it's difficult to start. That hasn't been our experience.
@@SandraBegotka I have the same unit and I only use propane, I have never put gasoline into the fuel tank. But I only have about 50 hours on my unit, I am wondering how long these things will last before they are worn out.
Hi Sandra, Sorry for the late reply (by a year) I also have the same unit and I have never put gas in my unit either, Only propane. I got mine for back up power and also to charge my solar battery banks during the winter time. I only have about 100 hours on my unit (My best guess) But here is something interesting, I wanted to see how many hours I could get on one 20 pound propane tank that was full. I usually turn off my main breaker and then feed my sub-panel, I was using the economy mode and after 53 hours of running the generator I turned it off, Ha ha ha. I still have some in the tank and have used it twice sense then, So they also get very good hours on a tank. Please note, I was NOT running any big loads, Just charging batteries, lights, computers. I would also love to know how long these things last.
We ran it a few months ago. All good. We continue to be happy with it and consider it a really good buy. We don't have a lot of hours on it...I really don't know exactly....but for sure less than 50hrs. Our primary use has been for plugging in our diesel truck (to heat the engine block) when we've traveled with our camper to cold areas. Our truck is a 2000 model and the glow plugs don't work... we can run into problems when the temps get down below 50F. So...our use has been only for those times....and then we've run it for from 1-2 hrs at a time. It's never given us any trouble....even after it's been sitting in storage for an extended time.
Value - a good price for what we wanted - DUAL FUEL. We bought this unit primarily for using when we travel in our truck/camper. We have LP on board already & our truck is diesel. If we'd have gone with a gasoline-only powered version that would mean dragging along yet another type of fuel.....not to mention the highly volatile nature of gasoline. At our home we also have a large LP tank...in the event of a power outage, we can use the LP....it won't go bad on us. Gasoline has a short shelf life and is more difficult to store. There may be other brands that also offer dual fuel....but this unit was less expensive....and so far I would say it is an excellent value.
Ours came with the hose when we purchased it. Here's a link to the product manual which includes a phone number - has a part list near the back. images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/4a/4a0585fe-458b-4bc6-988a-fefbdbdd09ef.pdf Also a link to amazon with a variety of regulator hoses for propane attachment. www.amazon.com/Propane-Replacement-Hose-Regulator/s?k=Propane+Replacement+Hose+Regulator
Yes. Yes. Yes. We're still glad we bought it. Super handy to have and always starts up easily. We've only ever run ours on propane...nice to have the option of gas...but we take ours traveling and didn't want to have to haul gas cans. Running on propane it's very clean running. I haven't seen this on sale much....but if you can wait/spend time looking around on the internet you might stumble on a deal.
I also had 1995 f350 tandem axel and it is probably either glow plugs or the panel that the holds the glow plugs . It causes some or all glow plugs to not get power.
We've never run it on gasoline. We use propane - using a standard 20lb tank it lasts a VERY long time. We've never specifically measured our usage. But I can share with you these manufacturer specs: • Run time =18 hrs @ 50% load LPG with 20 lbs tank & 7 hrs @ 50% load Gasoline The manufacturer has a handy specifications guide that can be found here: images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/96/960e5566-151e-41d2-8702-110135df49c4.pdf
Not exactly sure....but I would guess between 30-40lbs. Sorry I don't have access right now to actually weigh it. I think Home Depot sells this model and they often have the specifications listed...including weight for shipping. That might give a better estimate.
I see it is recommended to run not over 3000 feet. is there information why? I live over7000 feet high, would that do any damage, or would it make it not running as well?
We've run ours over that altitude on several occasions....like 10,000 feet up on a mountain top. It worked....maybe not as efficiently...but it did. That being said I would try to find out the ramifications of running it constantly at that height...maybe from the manufacturer. Sorry I do not know that info.
Long term it's not as much of an issue on propane because it doesn't soot as bad. With gas it will run too rich and gets worse as you get higher. Poor efficiency, Fouls the plug and will contaminate the oil pretty quick.
The altitude issue only apples to when using gasoline and larger carburetor jets compensate for that, but when using propane the carburetor is bypassed and the regulator takes care of everything.
Because of exhaust, this needs to be run in a very well ventilated area. Being enclosed with this running would be dangerous to your health and possibly life.
It does make some noise. I've been in a lot of places/campgounds with people running various other brands of similar generators. A Honda is a bit quieter....but not much. The cost is a lot more.
Great review and purchased dual fuel based on your review. Works great and I only run it will propane.
Cool, thanks

No need to carry gasoline is the main reason we chose this generator. Very nice option!

Really like the propane running the genset, no more gunked up carb problems with modern gasoline!!! That is very cool! Max

Did y'all change the spark plug??
Not yet. Still running on the original spark plug.
Thanks for the video. Do you still recommend the unit? Is it running well? Also, what is a good price for the unit on sale, if anyone knows? Thanks!

$299 at Walmart now, but I don't think that version is dual fuel.

Does this one have the option to add another one in series for more power like others do?
Yes.
