  • Can we rewire our brains? Is neuroplasticity too good to be true?
Yes, we can rewire our brains! Neuroplasticity or neural plasticity is the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections and create new neural pathways. We can do things to help rewire our brains.
In this video I speak with Dr. Gretchen Hawley, Physical Therapist & Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Certified Specialist, about how physical therapy and neuroplasticity exercises can help our neurons create new connections and new pathways.
Even small improvements can have a big impact on quality of life when living with MS.

Do you do exercises or activities to promote neuroplasticity?

This was super informative! Great to hear all ages and severities of MS can avail of nueroplasticity. Loved the “novelty” section, a small change/doing something different can be so beneficial to our brains 🫶🏻

Thank you both for this video!!
Neuroplasticity: what a wonderful gift!! It’s one of my favourite things to talk about, too 😃
I didn’t know about the research, but I can confirm that Neuroplasticity works for people with a spinal lesion 👍
Would you do a video on implementing Neuroplasticity for cognitive issues, please?
I hope Dr Hawley does a Ted Talk on Neuroplasticity 👍
I’m so glad the comments about, “I can’t lift my toes, what’s next?” we’re included.
I have learned to think of success in terms of reps done, not of outward improvement: doing the reps may take weeks or months, but the brain will reorganise at some point. Well, that’s my experience; it takes persistence to get🏅

When you went through all your MRIs, lumbar puncture etc. Did they say nothing showed up? I have done 2 MRIs and a lumbar puncture in the past and nothing showed. They said it was stress. I have had a bunch of different symptoms...ms hug...numbness...faciculations...that bad ms itch...fatigue...etc. it's not in my head.

I had a lesion that showed with my first set of MRIs but the lumbar puncture came back inconclusive. I was not diagnosed at that time. After my second relapse they diagnosed me. I encourage you to seeks a second opinion if you still have symptoms.

Hi Angelique, I can't give medical advice. I will share that some have seen some improvement in vision after a relapse but it may not fully return.

@@EvenSoItIsWell yes at a point my vision did return but with having had over 10 ON attacks 6 which were bilateral, I am now legally blind in right and about 50/60% left but I have atrophied Optic Nerves and Visual Snow on top of all this, I am a walking off balance neurological disaster 😳😅
