It's so astounding to me that The Game Awards never even nominates RGG games for best performance. If this were a fair world, at least half of the nominations would realistically be from RGG every year. They're so far above everyone else in the business in that area
1:25:09 In case you were curious about what he means, there’s a theory going around that Hanawa might actually be Morinaga from Yakuza 5. If you remember, Morinaga was “killed” off-screen by Aizawa and supposedly buried up in the mountains. It was really sudden. But Morinaga was also one of the few people that knew Kiryu was Taichi Suzuki. If that wasn’t enough, Hanawa and Morinaga have the same voice actor. It’s really cool that some of the forgotten characters seem to be coming back now.
The fact they made this in 6 months is incredible, where games take so much longer to come out, this shows RGG is above other devs in terms of love and care
@@Hunterese123 To be fair they reuse the majority of their asserts so they don’t really need to create a lot to put it all together. Definitely impressive but it’s how they release these games so quick.
I'm speechless. This story opened up the waterworks for me. I think of all the sacrifices my dad made for me and my siblings growing up, and I just realized how much it must have hurt for him to be away from us. It seems like for people like Kiryu, no good deed goes unpunished.
1:32:15 OMG same! I just got myself a deck of Hanafuda cards for Christmas (also from Nintendo, but with the classic theme you see in the RGG games), because I love Koi Koi in these games XD
The finale is so freakin badass and felt like a climax to Kiryu's story. He can erase his name but the legend of the Dragon was still with the Yakuza. When Kiryu talked to Shishido before their fight, he fully accepts and acknowledges that he's always enjoyed the battles and fighting, as well as the pride of being the strongest on top, and that these kinds of dreams don't mean a damn. Kiryu accepting this then finally putting an end to the Tojo, Omi, and his own legacy - that's amazing character development. The whole thing is bittersweet since Kiryu the man is gone and now the Dragon will fade away like the song in the credits, so Kiryu literally has nothing now. Kiryu can end the Tojo clan and seemingly not bat an eye, but he completely and miserably breaks down over a simple video message from his kids 😭 that's how important they are to him. I'm always amazed at Kuroda-san's exceptional acting 👏 he deserves all the recognition for his work And that after credits scene when Kiryu leaves the ring, I like it because it feels like he and Yumi fulfilled a dream of getting married in that church even if she's no longer there, but sad that he leaves the ring there, like he's letting go of that too. He had nothing before, and now he has even less 🥲 I'm still waiting for his happy ending please RGG 🙏 Can't wait for Infinite Wealth and more Yakuza when the time comes!
Thanks for playing for us bunny. It was a lot of fun going through this again. So bittersweet but really excited for you to play infinite wealth 🙏🙏 always great to be on a yakuza adventure with you and more to come. Rgg keep cooking up banger meals. Oh merry Christmas to you and family. Happy holidays 💚💚
once you play infinite wealth and the majima game in 2025 you'll be all caught up technically since none of the other games are canon to the main storyline. Project century does look interesting and I'm looking forward to that one as well
Yeah, the ending of this game makes up for any shortcomings it might have. I especially love the combat in this game, and would love for it to get expanded upon in the future. My current replay of the series, I finally actually played Yakuza 3 for the first time, and when I got to this one it hit that much harder because I know the kids went a lot better now and appreciate them so much more. I hope we get some actual in-person follow-up with them sometime. I don't know what form it would take but we need a chance to actually catch up with everybody from the orphanage. 😢
@bunnytails absolutely. I skipped it the first time because I had a tough time getting used to the jump back to what was very clearly pretty early Xbox 360/ps3 era control quality after zero, and the two kiwami games, but I'm so glad that I went back and did it.
28:14 That's nonsense. Watase couldn't have done otherwise. To get to the top you must share exactly one brain cell with all other top dogs. Saving Tsuruno, in that light, makes perfect sense. PS. Good luck with Y8. It's _not_ short, as the main game. But you probably would have guessed it.
Just to clarify my comment. I meant Watase and other top guys are just (endearing) dumb himbos. So him getting stabbed is very much in character. They don't really think logically.
Takaya Kuroda's performance in the end is an absolute masterclass of voice acting.
Yes!!!

@@kev1nno It's really sad, because it's a 11/10 game series! Music, story, drama, humor, gameplay, atmosphere, it's all 11/10! It would crush TGA!

The music during the final boss goes so hard!
RGG never misses!

I will watch these videos on marathon in a few days. I can't wait
Let me know what you think!
@bunnytails ok.
That finale was epic, even if it leaves us heartbroken. Can't wait for Infinite Wealth
Btw Happy Holidays! 🎄
Happy holidays!
1:06:20 This frame goes so hard, with all the music and implication.
Merry Christmas Bunnytails & happy holidays!
Same to you, Games!
Don't worry, the finale broke everyone

Oh man! Yakuza 3 is one of my favorites! The gameplay may have been rough but the characters and story really stuck with me.

If you think Tsuruno could have dissolved the Omi Alliance just as successfully as Watase then I respect that. 😊
I think Tsuruno is a good dude so Watase jump in front of the knife. If it were Kiryu or Saejima they would have done the same thing
Just to clarify my comment. I meant Watase and other top guys are just (endearing) dumb himbos. So him getting stabbed is very much in character. They don't really think logically.
@@pclouds yeah that's basically what the old yakuza are about (according to the game)
This was mean from RGG 😢
IKR!?
Been waiting for this exact episode for months! Like a dragon infinite wealth next!! Lets gooooo!!!😭🫶🏻🫶🏻🥰
